Summary: The first of four half-hour episodes follows David right after he wins HGTV Design Star. While celebrating with his family and friends, he soon learns that his dad is fighting cancer. David then flies to San Francisco to see his father and talk with HGTV producers and executives to pitch ideas for his new series.
