Another promising DC show ruined by the need to drop F bombs every five seconds in order to appeal to mindless idiots who wouldn’t know a good story if it but them in the ass.

This is just people trying to be edgy without any concept of what that means. Also, if Joker had weapons like that Batman would be dead in a second. So they are trying to mix realistic injuries with cartoon physics which is pure nonsense. At the start of epsiode one Harley is standing within touching distance of a gas cloud that would instantly kill her, and she does not even back away. That is how badly written this is. Also, who drew the joker as a horse?

Check out Vivziepop on YouTube for some free absolutely hilarious R-rated animated humor (Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss). It makes HQ look like serial killer fan fic.

Swearing has been inserted into the dialog, not for emphasis, but randomly as if by someone unfamiliar with the concept of swearing. The violence is neither shocking nor comical, just casual. More like there was a violence quota to be filled.
The Joker is sane and unfunny. James Gordon is actually insane. White men spew dialog so hallucinatory left-wing that at first I thought the show was being satirical of current political culture (it's not, they really mean this stuff).
Jarring, grating, unfunny, a lack of understanding of the characters, and just terrible crap.

I saw a clip from this show which made me laugh out loud and I decided I just have to see this. So I watched the first episode, then the second... I didn't enjoy them. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a big fan of the tough chick genre, why is it then, that no one seems to know how to make decent tough chicks? I know this is based off of a great comic series of the same name and plot, but the way the characters are written and portrayed in this cartoon is awful. It's like watching a show from the 90's that was just written for teens using the lowest common denominator. Other than a couple of funny scenes (which are few and far in between) the entire humor of this show consists of cusswords and violent slapstick. This show seems to have been directed and written by people who thought Suicide Squad was a good movie, because everyone is written to be some sort of post-modern idiot. You got the Joker, whose abusive relationship with Harley is so compelling and tragic because he's diabolical and manipulative, portrayed as some dumb shmuck completely engrossed and concerned with his public image and tries to be some sort of teen magazine bad boy, going to the legion of doom like it's a 9 to 5 job and being all around more Jared Leto than Jared Leto. You got a wide cast of other villains played but what I can only assume is the cast of Daria back from MTV, because none of them are like themselves. This show was clearly written by clueless men for women, or even worse, by clueless women for women. Maybe a complex character like Harley Queen and the adult themes of her relationship with Joker could have actually been explored in an R rated cartoon and not turned into some slapstick as if abusive relationships are a joke? Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are both intelligent academics and are both portrayed as the stereotypical boredrational and brashenergetic teenage girls, with no sense of the dignity they have in any other media. It's disrespectful to the characters and mostly to the viewers, when two women with at least a master's degree each are as smart as a talking Venus Fly Trap straight outta little shop of horrors who sits and watches TV all day. This show is tasteless, the humor is crude and lowbrow and the writing is terrible. Try to treat the subject matter a little more seriously, you're telling the story of a person, not a caricature, put some depth in the writing and character. The material this is based on is fit for a Greek tragedy to rival Sophocles, take a look at Bojack Horseman, the entire premise of the show is ridiculous to the nth degree, but it can portray adult themes and situations and get laughs and sobs in the same breath. It's a world of wacky animal people doing wacky things like going to the news over a box of cookies, or stealing the D from the Hollywood sign but it feels infinitely more grounded and relatable. People came to see Harley Queen, not some reject from Sucker Punch. Claiming this series has universal acclaim over 6 critic reviews, which by the way, are highly dodgy at best, showing once more that critics in modern society have absolutely no understanding of the art they claim to judge, or of complex ideas in general. I see Haleigh Foutch calling this show empowering, empowering? This is insulting.

I do want to commend the voice cast for their talent, it's just a shame the direction and writing is steering it into the gutter. My best criticism is to drop the abundant number of curses, stop treating the characters as caricatures and start treating them as people. People are complex, there's much more to them under the surface and not just things that can be summarized in a 30 minute episode that goes into their psyche. Be subtle, introspection is not the only thing that shows character development. It's the little, passive things that happen when you don't notice them. All in all, I'd pass on this, to send a hard message to clueless writers and producers to stop treating source material as a joke and start really caring about what you're doing. Just because you can curse, doesn't mean you should. Just because you can be violent, doesn't mean you must. Batman the Animated show has had multiple episodes with these themes and plots about Harley and Joker and was better to convey in just a couple of them more than this entire show is. Shame on Critics for praising this garbage, this is not empowering, this is not what anyone should aspire to, it's just not good, but it can be if the writers fess up.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show makes no sense. I hoped it would have been a decent adult toon, but I was wrong. Again, as always in the latest years, I have to face SJW propaganda.
I am simply tired and bored by it.
The first line of the show is literally a racist one. "Fellow whites" who hate the poor, please give me a brake, like every white person is a rich bastard.
HQ relationship with the Joker has always been abusive, we all know that, but in this show it's not because he is a violent psycho, of course not... it's because he is a man.
And what about all these villains acting so normal and, most important, polite and against "bullying"??? It seems like the writers forgot that we are dealing with murderers here! Oh wait, they let them kill random people for """fun""", yeah... Look, I love violence, but it has to make sense! Killing and crippling for the sake of it, loses its purpose.
And all that feminist gibberish about the glass ceiling! For the love of god! Please! Do you really want to show girls and young women that they can make it in life? Don't tell them that the world is against them because of their sex! Tell them that the world is a harsh place for everyone and that they can be the best themselves they can even imagine!
But back to the show.
AAAALL o this, ALL the episodes, the whole show is about HQ trying to forget Joker and rub in his face that she is his equal and doesn't care about him... proving that she is still NOT over him. Why would I want the approval of someone I hate??? And frankly, maybe it's a language barrier taking place here... but why there is so much fuzz about the word "c*nt"? A DAMN VILLAIN is saying it! Why the world LITERALLY freezes for a BAD guy swearing??? I am watching episode 6 right now, but I couldn't wait to write this review.
I am simply bored to death about brainless politics and agendas thrown in my face in a racist and sexist way.
Also: this show is depicting deep and complex characters as plain as it can.

It's simply aswful.

This show makes the film "Suicide Squad" look like "The Dark Knight". They are clearly trying to grab audiences with excessive blood, gore, obscene language, and humor the equivalent of fart jokes. I love "Deadwood" and there is honestly more swearing in this show than that. A far cry from the thoughtful, well-crafted, and well written character that Paul Dini created in the 90s.

The only reason I gave this a 1/10 is because the animation is actually quite nice.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I initially made this comment on youtube after watching the second episode of the first season, but I figured I may as well say the same thing here.

Yeah, so i hate to be THAT guy, but this show is giving me some seriously bad vibes about its future. And don't get me wrong. I like Harley Quinn. Have been a big fan of hers since Batman the animated series. And I especially enjoyed her in Injustice 1 and 2 when she reformed and joined the bat-family (I feel that version of Harley has the most potential IMO). A series where she gets over the Joker can be done and rather well at that. That said, this show does NOT feel like Harley Quinn. She has broken up with the joker before, but this show feels a lot less like her breaking up with the Joker and striving on her own and more like pushing some nonsense agenda. The Joker's dumb "my fellow whites" line in the first episode was one thing and easy to dismiss. Batman NOT trying to save Harley from falling into something he himself said was "acid" was idiotic (especially considering the dude has risked his life based on far less information to save Harley's life in the past), but I gave it pass. But having Harley "stand up for the other villains" in light of the Joker's bullying /"mean comments about them" and in light of it being "the same way Joker used to treat her" is BEYOND cringeworthy. Last time I checked Harley, you guys are EVIL SUPER VILLAINS who rob and murder people left and right. You are NOT good people and have never given a damn about common decency. The Joker saying "mean things" to Bane is TAME compared to everything else on his AND Bane's resume and villains would probably suspect something was SERIOUSLY WRONG with the dude if he DIDN'T act like that (like maybe he's the Martian Manhunter or the goddamn Batman himself in disguise, which is NOT unprecedented). Seriously, civility for the Joker (or any of the people in this room) is him NOT torching the whole place down just for laughs or spiking the punch with joker toxin. This entire scene felt like a retarded as hell attempt to continue pushing this dumb as hell "I'm a strong independent woman and don't need no man!" mantra and I'm guessing it's gonna get worse from here on out.

Same goes for Poison Ivy too. You are an EVIL HOMICIDAL MANIAC who kills men, women and children just for even looking at a plant the wrong way. You are in NO POSITION WHATSOEVER to maintain any moral highground about the sick and twisted ways Joker treats Harley. Lets not forget any of your nutjob attempts to murder the entire planet (INCLUDING Harley) just because of what happened to a flower pot.

You're all equal opportunity nutjobs who regularly get checked into Arkham Asylum for a reason. The Joker just has you beat for being better at it, which even the likes of Superman has had to learn firsthand; they don't call him for the clown prince of crime for nothing. He may be abusive to Harley, but considering that this is a dude who will toss infant babies out the window for **** and giggles, what do you expect? The Joker does not give the SLIGHTEST damn about "bullying others", much less "misogyny", "white male supremacy" or any other terms certain people like to throw around these days on twitter simply because they have nothing better to do with their lives. He will gruesomely murder you regardless of whether you're a man, woman, adult, child, senior citizen, black, white, blue, yellow, red or green and will do so will do so with a smile on his face. That's who the Joker is and that is who he will always be notwithstanding whatever hack writers want to attribute to him and his "fellow whites." Unfortunately, this incarnation of Joker is just looking to be a foil for some nonsense social justice crusade, which I'm guessing is gonna be a lot more blatant in later episodes. Shame too, but at least it's better than CW's soon to be canceled Fatwoman. That show is cancer. Yikes.

P.S. As a means of being "edgy", I predict that it will actually come out later in the show that Harley is right about Batman "f-cking bats." H'yuck h'yuck h'yuck. So funny. (◔_◔)

Wow. This show is way too forced. Both in vulgarity, violence, and relationships, especially Quinn and Ivy. Without Ivy, the show wouldn't exist, and probably the better route to save the animators time to make something better FOR EVERYONE.
