“Douglas” indicates the limits of her humor in covering over the limits of her project when it comes to redressing all the ills she wants to fix. The applause ringing through “Douglas” suggests that what one comes to Gadsby for is the humor, but what one leaves with, by the artist’s own design, is a sense of having done activism simply by agreeing with her.

If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted giggle, this is not the special for that and Netflix is packed with dozens of others that do provide this service. It didn’t make me laugh and I believe the intention was to do so, even more than her previous special.

I remember struggling to make it through Nanette, and trying to keep an open mind, but ultimately giving up. Why does being a certain race, orientation, gender suddenly bestow authority on people? Who is this person to lecture anyone? And it seems awfully sneaky to do this under the guise of comedy. There is nothing funny or compelling about this. The only reason this person has a career is so some studio or marketing team can rack up woke points. I feel.sorry for people who think this is funny. It's a lot.like racist comedians from the past. Its only funny or compelling if you have the same hate in your heart. Full Review »

If you enjoy Rachel Maddow's stand up comedy, you might enjoy this. That's the only way anyone could ever enjoy this.
