Apr 3, 2022Halo falters under the weight of the source material. Too different from the games to be an entertaining action show and too generic to break any new sci fi ground for its own sake. Certainly watchable but just forgettable. I believe the fundamental core of the show is flawed beyond redemption (master chief shouldn't be maskless!). Another missed opportunity.

May 22, 2022Nothing special unfortunately... So many possible ways to bring this lore and story to live action, but all regarding Madrigal is pretty dull. And so much that is b-quality compared to so many other shows and movies... Wich is a shame, since it's Halo!!!

Mar 24, 2022Action was well shot and well edited, but pacing's a bit slow and performances are kinda stale.

Mar 24, 2022I thought this would be terrible, but was humbly surprised with how much I enjoyed it.
CGI Ranges from amazing to janky, so it is disjointed in that regard, however tension betweens marines, rebels and Spartans creates a much more interesting dynamic than I anticipated.

Hail to the Chief? Not quite, but despite some uneven plotting, this is a worthy adaptation that promises better things to come.

Where this all goes and whether the balance tips more toward character and story or more toward video game-like battle scenes is unclear, but if the first two episodes are any indication, character stories will win out. As long as that remains the case, I’ll gladly go along for this sci-fi ride.

The obvious parallels are with The Mandalorian, another show about a seemingly invincible, murderous space warrior who embarks on a path towards becoming a total sweetie. If that’s the long-term plan here, neither the show nor Schreiber has quite nailed it yet.
