A combination of cheeky British humor, and an unlikely buddy adventure. Theologically it’s a hot mess, but too fun to spoil the ride. All star cast!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good Omens has been my favorite book for years, and I was anxiously awaiting this adaptation. In the past I have usually been disappointed whenever I avidly anticipate a show/movie, but this production really lives up to the source material, and even exceeds it in places. Gaiman manages to fill in several blanks in the book (the main characters' relationship over time, what happens to them after the End, etc) with brand new material that is certain to delight any devotee of "Good Omens". The entire production feels like a cross between "Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and Monty Python, making it delightfully fun to watch. The acting is spot on, but admittedly the viewer is focused on the two main protagonists, with everyone else filling secondary roles. The demographic that will love this show is: a)anyone who loved the book; b)any fan of Hitch-hiker's guide, the series; or c)any Terry Pratchett fan. The demographic that will hate this show includes: a)anyone offended by religious themes treated irreverently (God as a woman, Noah losing a unicorn, Adam and Eve being black, etc); or b)anyone who doesn't "get" British humor in general or Monty Python in particular; or c)anyone who hated "Life of Brian". If you fall somewhere between these two extremes, give it a go. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Expand

Good Omens is good. The jokes almost write themselves. It is natural. There is some Woke crap in it but I am learning to filter out that crap. Very entertaining.

Very much a hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy vibe. Entertaining from start to finish. Would have loved maybe 8-10 episodes to flesh things out even more, but don't believe the miserable people giving it bad reviews. Must watch for sure!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good Omens is a powerful mix of optimism and pessimism, bending religious concepts for creative purposes -a controversial move, but one appreciated by the open-minded.

Heaven and Hell, depicted as filled with comparably authoritarian war-mongerers seeking to destroy each other to prove who's best, is a pessimistic view indicative of modern-day polarized politics between the right and left wing. The main characters, Aziraphale and Crowley, play a dangerous game of trying to prevent all-out war and destruction of humanity, giving false reports and accreditations for various ups and downs throughout humanity's lifespan in order to throw their superiors off-track.

Satan is shown for merely a few seconds so don't watch just for him and God doesn't even appear. The soundtrack pops with the slow determined trudge of a bittersweet Russian tone and an introduction that wreaks of a fitting aesthetic of a slow goofy march of beings representing humanity guided by two opposing angels. Never is this tone broken throughout the show either, with a clear theme of bittersweet humanity slowly trudging onwards despite the opposition of Heaven and Hell. Considering the most 'righteous' character was a dead witch who told entirely accurate prophecies, along with a fallen angel and a traitor angel, as well as the literal antichrist turning out to be the hero of the story thanks in part to great friends, the shocking scents of Neil Gaiman's and Terry Pratchett's breaching of concepts considered sacred in the name of thoughtful creativity cannot be missed.

The core acting is spot-on from the two main actors, with our time-tested David Tennant as Crowley and the surprisingly charming awkward courteousness of Michael Sheen in his role as Aziraphale. The child actors were a believable batch of Goonies serving their role in teaching Adam the Antichrist some humanity in a way which justified their presence. Every core character in the show had a weight of importance through what they did or what was done with them.

Virtual effects, CGI, and cinematography looked believable and flashy, without ever going to over the top AAA movie quality or looking made-for-TV. This was Game of Thrones quality graphical output with the costuming and propwork to back it up

To pull all of this off concisely in six episodes is a remarkable show of editorship.

This was a step forward for entertainment, not merely callously breaking religious barriers of entry for creative types, but expanding the imagination to the possibilities of what is 'Good' or 'Evil' and how that can be portrayed through the bittersweet mixed character development at times morally ambiguous characters can face, especially in Crowley's delightful devilishness. Crowley is in all honesty the better character than Aziraphale, even if both are highly enjoyable, because Crowley properly walks the fine line, pulling over-the-top bad pranks and cruel acts, but never going all-out evil or horrible to other people. He's fun and sociable, someone you'd enjoy hanging out with, but not someone you would trust with your car keys.

Good Omens for these reasons gets a 93/100 from me. This rating would be raised if the show had explored more concepts and philosophical issues, presented more characters to compete with the supreme quality of Crowley's character, and had more consistently riveting music and graphical effects than what is mainly packed into the introduction.

It’s not the first time irreverent comedy is used to debunk religion and mankind’s warmongering tendencies, but it’s hardly as sharp and inventive as it is here. The only problem might be the plot, which didn’t make much sense and felt a little underwhelming if considered the premise. The continuous digressions might have made the pacing a little off, but it’s probably the first time the digressions are actually more entertaining than the main thing. The chemistry between Michael Sheen and David Tennant is so good that you just want to watch them interact the whole time. I particularly liked the bits that retell moments in history and episodes from the Bible in the show’s own cheeky and sarcastic way. In the end, who really cared about the Antichrist and his “Stranger Things” friends? Expand

I know the series is not perfect (the energy kinda simmers down whenever the story wonders off to the side casts), BUT it got right what really matters. For me, Good Omens is ultimately the story of Aziraphale and Crowley, and the series GOT IT. The casting choices and the acting of Michael Sheen and David Tennant are so bloody great that they override the few wrongs the series has. They just kill it whenever they are on screen.

I know it might sound a bit shallow to give a 10 just from the casting and performance of two characters. However, considering I have been waiting for this adaptation for almost two decades with unrealistic expectation, and the main casts somehow manage to EXCEED that absurdly unrealistically high expectation, a 10 is the least I can give the series.

An angel, whose name is Aziraphale and a demon, Crowley, want to stop the approaching Armageddon, because they like their lives on earth.

The opening title sequence is really great with a wonderful musical accompaniment. This TV series brightly stands out from other series. It is hard to overlook it and it attracts attention. 'Good Omens' is unusual, with an entertaining atmosphere and a nonstandard approach to well-known topics, but in an unconventional way. Fans of Terry Pratchett's and Neil Gaiman's creativity will be happy to watch it, but it will be interesting for moviegoers who haven't read a novel too.

This is a faithful adaptation of a humorous novel co-written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It is a quirky and lighthearted comfort tale about the apocalypse that doesn't explode onto the screen so much as charm its way in through a back window.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spoiler free review: this was an amazing new season of Good Omens and I highly recommend this show to anyone and everyone. It was the best kind of fan-service. Well-written and stays true to Neil Gaiman's style and intentions and world building, but gives the fans what they want to see. This show has something for people who like every genre, every type of character, and every kind of story. The beauty and complexity of this story transcends gender, race, and religion while still commenting on all of those things in a very interesting way. Seriously - watch it.

Spoilers ahead!

I am HEARTBROKEN. I have never been so emotionally destroyed by any piece of media that I can remember. They gave us exactly what we wanted - Crowley confessed his love for Aziraphale, and they still couldn't be together. Once I remembered how to breathe and form complete sentences, I realized that this is, of course, an exceptional way to end the season. Good Omens, at its core, is about trying to do the right thing for yourself and for others while under the rule of authoritarian hierarchies that couldn't care less about the right thing, as long as they achieve power. It is fully in character for Aziraphale to have hope that with him in charge, he can change the way Heaven is run for the better. It is also fully in character for Aziraphale to rebuff Crowley and cling to what is most familiar to him: his faith that Heaven is good and righteous. However, my heart has been shattered into millions of tiny, miniscule fragments. This is not to say that Neil Gaiman did anything wrong - quite the contrary. It is the mark of an excellent writer to be able to destroy viewers so completely. Amazon needs to agree to the terms of the SAG-AFTRA strike so we can get season 3 NOW!!

I binged it in one night. It was magical. I watched the first season at least 5 times and never got bored with it. Every time I'm in need of comfort Good Omens doesn't disappoint. When the announcement came that they would make a second season I was overjoyed. Though I must admit I was a tad scared to watch it when it was released. I was afraid it wouldn't be as good as the first season. And I somewhat put off watching it, because you can watch something for the first time only once. I think that statement alone should show what an amazing show Good Omens really is. A few days after S2 was released I finally couldn't hold off anymore and binged it. I laughed. I cried. I grieved. I was completely submerged into the show. I still haven't quite recovered. It's been a very long time since something made me feel so much. I expect I'll rewatch S2 at least as often as season 1. Every second of the show is worth it. It's a masterpiece like I haven't seen before.
Summary: It's a Masterpiece (capital letter required)

Absolutely adore this show! Season one had a great plot, and a wonderful sense of humor. The acting is on point! Can't go wrong with David Tennant and Michael Sheen.

Season two was a great follow up to season one. Episode six is heart wrenching in all the right ways. Neil Gaiman gave us everything we wanted for the entire season, and an ending we didn't see coming (and didn't knew we needed). Super excited to see where he takes our beloved characters in season three.

Chemistry between Tennant and Sheen really shines this season. Their banter is perfectly polished, and expertly written. Costuming is absolutely beautiful. Set dressing is also gorgeous. Everything about season two was top tier. Not a single complaint from this long time fan!
