All that is gone now that the show is written by second grade film industry writers that turned it into yet another TV fantasy series, full of tropes, cliches, and repetitive "let's keep doing what we are doing". From paycheck to paycheck they boldly go, like others has gone before.

And the mysterious, frightening White Walkers? They are just plain zombies. Yep, zombies we all know and love. You just have to whack them with the right gizmo and they stay dead.

The first episode was totally stolen by Sam Tarwell filling bowls and emptying chamber pots that looked exactly the same. Oops, spoilers. That was the only genuinely fresh moment.

The excitement is fading with the current writing. The story has become predictable. Events are going too well for the favorite characters. The show thrived when demented villains won, heroes' fates hung on by a thread, and the anxiety of not knowing what would happen to these character's next.

A significant drop in quality compared to previous seasons. The pacing of the story has been too brisk, as if Weiss and Benioff are all too aware of the limited number of episodes they have prescribed to themselves and are rushing to tie everything up in Game of Throne's final few episodes.

The moral grayness of many characters has also taken a back seat to a more classical good/evil theme, making them simpler and too easy to understand and predict.

Its departure from (or rather lack of) a source material has scathed the show. Plot points, arcs, and even dialogue are now devices used for fan service. Story-lines are now very linear and predictable. It really seems like the show's writing has been considerably dumbed down for mass appeal.

The seventh season of Game of Thrones has brought a major dip in the quality of the world's story. It's too simple, and a somewhat hollower version of it predecessors.

That is what has made the show fantastic for the last six seasons. Viewers connected with primary and secondary characters, watching the tension build with a sense of foreboding as we see the inevitable collision, and then we watch the collision happen.

Most of that is gone this season. I understand the show writers are up against financial and deadline issues but this season has been non-stop event after event to the point where it's no longer believable. In the four episodes of this season we've seen more battles than we saw in an entire season and a half during the War of the Five Kings. Highgarden and Casterly Rock came and went with a whimper. The pacing of this season makes major plot points and characters seem to be teleporting around in rapid style and has given too many characters too much "plot armor" (specifically Euron, Bran, and Jaime).

While many of these action sequences have been decently done - especially the end of episode 4 this season - the short shrift given to the rest of the world and exposition leaves more questions than answers. Emotional impact of reunions or supposedly big moment events feel cheap because there's another one right around the corner. The emotional bombshell at the end of season 3 has all been forgotten by the end of the next 49 minute long episode.

I cannot fathom why people are giving this 8, 9, or 10 ratings. This is so far gone from what the previous 6 seasons of GoT were that it's hard to watch.

The most poorly written season yet by far. The finale was great. I just really wish everything leading up the finale made more sense and was better developed.

GoT has officially been dissolved into a high-budget action series. Nothing more.

It really is disappointing, being a fan of the series since episode 1 way bad in 2011. Now there is no political intrigue or sense of who is good or bad. There is now a clear distinction, and its clearly good vs evil or everyone vs the army of the dead.

This is the worst season of Game of Thrones so far! I pray they can get their **** together and try to pull off a good final season. No way in hell this compares to season 4, which I believe is the best yet.

Tyrion now does not play any significant role too, because Daenarys now is strong and independent (SJW is here), and that means she do exactly opposite to what Tyrion is advising. As a result, she is doing silly mistakes, but she is invincible main hero, so it doesn't affect her at all. Six's episode was like not a GoT at all, more like LoTR. Where it took Dani seasons to get from one place to another what looked like months if not a years of in show time in this season they just get in the place they need to be in what looks like just a few hours (yes that's what happened in Ep 6 and lake situation in it, and in every other part of this season especially with armies)

With or without Martin, the story is coming to an end that bring you to think that nothing of what you have watched for years matters now that "the army of dead is coming". All those wonderful plot-twist, all those memorable scenes, all those characters, all their suffering,....nothing.
You can feel this by noticing how fast the seventh season go through plot, characters, and even westeros (yeah, from king's landing to the wall in a few seconds) without really paying attention to all the things it's leaving behind. The best of GOT.
Now we have a lot of special effects, and a rushed plot that seems to be written only for fanservice.
After watching season 7, and figuring that next season will be on the same level of quality, do you REALLY want to know how the story ends?

The main problem is that the storyline has suffered. During the course of the series, the plot takes several improbable diversions, including a madcap episode set north of the wall, where events become so improbable they're almost laughable (though admittedly still interesting and gripping television).
During the season, we see only snatches of GOT at it's best; Daenerys' Dragon attack in episode 4, Olenna Tyrell's final scene, Cersei gaining revenge on the Sandsnakes, and most of episode 7, which is a fantastic episode and definitely one of the finest in the show's history.
But unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough to take away my feeling that the show has lost it's edge. Perhaps the shorter, seven episode season didn't help, as it felt like some of the writing had been rushed. Hopefully season 8 will live up to the hype, though will just six episodes, I fear that it may not. But then again, if it's anywhere near as good as the season 7 finale, then I certainly won't go away disappointed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I found the premiere quite lame, not much happened. The Samwell reveal was underwhelming, he really needs to find something interesting in that tower or his entire character has been an utter failure. Really – not much happened, they tried to push Danny entering Dragonstone off as an epic ending, but it fell short, if it had ended with her discovering something within Dragonstone, that would have set up a lot more hype, but i guess something like that will have to wait, because this is game of thrones, and regardless of how much the trailers tries to make the series seem fast-paced it still moves at the pace of a snail.

Hopefully the rest of the season will be more interesting, and not so predictable as it would appear right now.

The only real highlight of this season is Beyond The Wall. Aside from that, It was an obvious rush job. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Death is the enemy. The first enemy, and the last."

Game of Thrones season 7 is enthralling and sweeping with excitement that every episode leaves you anticipating the next. Everything on a technical and acting standpoint is incredible, but everything else in terms of writing and story narrative feels rushed, unfortunately. With the show going off from George R. R. Martin books, it becomes more transparent that the details in characters and pacing is lacking. It’s not a bad season, just messy compared to previous seasons.

Let's start with the positives: The biggest praise I can give for a show like this is making TV cinematic, especially with episodes like “The Spoils of War” that is a treat for the eyes. This is the first time we’ve seen these dragons attack on this grand of a scale. There’s only small incidents where I can recall feeling tense while watching something, but episodes like this proves the excellence of TV - same thing applies with “Beyond the Wall”, in spite of the flaws.

The first interaction between Jon and Daenerys is great. I liked how they couldn’t stand each other at first with Jon refusing to knee before her and bursting Daenerys ego. I mean, we got two powerful leaders with legendary status clashing with each other. It’s until later when they relationship becomes more tender and open, which would be rush in any other show, but it takes good actors to make it believable in a small amount of time.

Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke and everyone else is fantastic as usual. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, on the other hand, I thought is really excellent this season, and in previous seasons as well. Beautifully portraying a conflicted Jaime who will make the toughest decisions in the upcoming season finale, as I’m predicting. His facial expressions says it all and I’m glad the actor is finally getting credit - long overdue.

Viserion death (Daenerys dragon) was heartbreaking and made The Night King a threatening presence. You soon realize that Jon’s bravery is sometimes his flaw, and the whole mission to capture a white walker to show the Lannister's who’s the real enemy wasn’t anything heroic, just suicide. Even when the characters reflect on their foolish decisions, it’s almost similar to when Gandalf from ‘Lord of the Rings’ questions if the whole eagle plan was even a good strategy.

The visual effects are nearly photo realistic at times, sometimes better than most blockbusters we’re getting recently. The score is breathtaking and Ramin Djawadi doesn't disappoint. The cinematography with the mixture of cold blues and striking landscapes is impeccable. As I said before, everything on a technical standpoint is flawless, but what about the rest?

    Now for my issues:

I honestly think cutting the episodes down to 7 probably wasn’t the best idea, because with characters zigzagging to different locations with a certain urgency, but not once did I feel there was a pasting of time, as the whole thing felt like it took place in one day. I’m guessing characters can teleport now (not literally), but in the world of ‘Game of Thrones’ it doesn’t sound too far fetched.

Also, the whole Sansa and Arya subplot is one of the most pointless things ever. It’s only purpose is tricking the audiences into thinking Arya is going to kill her own sister for some sort of revenge, which by the way, her reasoning makes no sense whatsoever. At the end it’s just a trap for Littlefinger, even though there are plenty of scenes when he wasn’t in the room or nearby to eavesdrop - so again, WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO TRICK BESIDES LITTLEFINGER? I didn’t like how Lord Baelish 'Littlefinger' existed the show as I don’t believe the sneaky and collective slimeball would’ve at least went out with a fight. Trial by combat wasn’t an option?

I’m starting to think the show itself is embracing the fandom a little, because while winter is closing in and tension is rising, the danger for the main characters feels safe with the endless amount of fake outs and convenient rescues. The bamboozle starts whenever a beloved character is facing danger up close and you think the worst will happen, but at the last minute is saved and you sigh with relief. The entire season feels like that and takes away any sort of danger in these type of situations. It’s becoming fan fiction at this point.

Overall rating: Despite my mixed feelings - I’m still excited for season 8. I mean, I’ve been watching this show from the very beginning so it wouldn’t make sense for me not to be. Again, this is nowhere near a bad season, just wasn’t as strong as the previous ones, mainly on re-watch.

Ignoring all the tropes which separated GOT from other fantasy and embracing ridiculous nonsense based in public, popular, demand, ignoring the fact that the writers are not subject to the whims of the audience, Season 7 truly is the worst season of GOT, and it goes to show that without GRRM's books for guidance, Dan and David are really struggling to capture Thrones essence.
