Again, now we know what Benioff and Weiss are capable of, without Martin's books.

Unbelievably dumb and nonsensical, scenes shot only to gratify viewers. Actors and direction are still doing a good job, the visuals are still good to look at, but the writing is pure garbage, making this show offensive to those that kept on watching the show for all these years hoping in a meaningful finale, but being instead mocked with a show with no story anymore.

This is so boring and dumb show now. Every character is a caricature, every plot development is illogical. Only positive is visuals and computer graphics. 3/10

A garbage season for a once great show. The plot isn't predictable, it seems entirely haphazard. It's as if no consideration went into plausibility or motivation. I can just imagine the writing room went something like this... Let's send a bunch of dudes wandering around for no reason in the snow. I know that sounds dumb, but wait... then they run into a zombie polar bear! NobodyA garbage season for a once great show. The plot isn't predictable, it seems entirely haphazard. Nobody watching will even care that there's no plot with sweet killer zombie bear FX!

Please hire real writers for the final season.

season 7 sucked so bad I can't believe the same team who did season 1-6 are still the showrunners

Main plotlines were totally asinine, the show which built its following on its unpredictability is now as predictable as any hollywood action movie

    1) Plot of going across the wall to catch a weight to get is cersei to cooperate is one of the dumbest plot angles in any show ever. Why didnt they just show viserion flying over the wall on his excursion & being hunted by night king. Even that would have made more sense

    2) Mother of dragons is least bothered that she is being outwitted by cersei at every turn & that john snow just cost her one of her children. Instead she is drooling over him throughout the show

    3) The master schemer Littlefinger lost his head while trying to instigate teenage girl drama over some letter written years ago under duress. This angle was so poorly written it was shocking

    4) they spent 6 yrs peddling Danerys as the chosen one & Tyrion as a master strategist. Both characters seem incapable of doing anything

Basically the desire to turn John Snow into the primary character at expense of everything else has ruined the show.

I am actually now rooting for Cersei, the last well written character on the show

The writers of this show had it all delivered for them on a silver plate, and they still managed to **** it up. There is no logic behind many decisions made by the characters in the show, the plot is as shallow as it is predictable- it has became somewhat of a giant fan-service and thus lost its former glow.

The writing in this season turned from "noticably subpar" to "what the hell is this crap" category. The plotlines are unbalanced, full of deus ex machina, unconvincing turns.. I'm sad to see one of my favourite show sink this deep.

Massively disappointing premier. The entire episode seemed to sludge along with nothing new occurring in either plot or character development. Not game of thrones anymore, the last two episode where straight out of a Marvel film.

Really sad how GoT became hype over substance.

Complete trash show, just a soap opera with lots of swords and penises and **** There's hasn't been any attempt at establishing theme or depth since season 3. The night is dark and full of plot holes!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am so disappointed with this new season. Episode 1 was about as thrilling as a tuna sandwich. The only really good part was the very beginning with Arya at the Freys. After that it was total anti-climax. Episode 2 half the characters that made this show great were killed off. In episode 3 even more of them. The dynamics between these characters was one of the best parts of this show. Of the ones that remain, they are boring and much changed. Dany is just full of herself and craving power, Jon is wimpy, and Cersei is actually boring! Boring! Cersei! After these episodes the "writers" feel a need to explain the writing. If the writing were any good, this wouldn't be necessary. They're late getting started, they've cut the number of episodes, and now 3/4 of the good characters are gone. Even Tyrion isn't the same. I'm going to give it one more episode and then I'm done if it doesn't pick up. I don't really see how it can, but I'm willing to hang in there for one more week. Looks like another great program taking a ride down the ego trip highway to me, and it makes me sad. Expand

You ever notice that every character is the same? From simply a dialogue perspective, nearly every character is an overly-confident blockhead - men, women and children alike. The Game Of Revenge is starting to reveal it´s only rule - kill or be killed, there is nothing deep in it, the only interesting part is the way to be killed, unfortunately the most pity way to die came from the most interesting character Lady Olenna - why kill herself, when there is always hope. The most important question - who is the ultimate killer and stands the last - the person who has been killed already I guess. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn't finish watching the entire season. After the sixth episode I just couldn't take it anymore. It was always a show where actions had consequences and no one was saved at the last minute. In the sixth episode just as you think Jon will die (again) Daenerys flies in with her dragons. Then when Jon is left behind his uncle comes along and saves him. How did he even know Jon was there? Then the stupid fight between Sansa and Arya which just made me realize how useless of a character Arya has become. Expand

The crisp editing of the Arya sequence, exploiting dramatic irony right up to the breaking point, was one among numerous scenes that seemed to indicate Thrones isn't just keeping up to its old standards but actually learning new tricks. Another was the introduction of Samwell Tarly's life in Old Town--who knew this show, which has mastered wartime action but had never produced a quickfire sequence quite like this one, with its repetitive chamber pots to be emptied, could be quite this sharp?

As per every premiere episode of Game of Thrones, the pace is slow. Setting up each new carefully constructed season--the complex weave of story lines, the huge cast, the breathtaking locations--takes time. But Benioff and Weiss have pulled it off once again, if not with a bit more humor than in previous seasons.

Scenes in the middle of the show with Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) cleaning bedpans and serving soup at the Citadel dragged. ... The show thrills when concentrating on its formidable female characters.
