Again, now we know what Benioff and Weiss are capable of, without Martin's books.

Unbelievably dumb and nonsensical, scenes shot only to gratify viewers. Actors and direction are still doing a good job, the visuals are still good to look at, but the writing is pure garbage, making this show offensive to those that kept on watching the show for all these years hoping in a meaningful finale, but being instead mocked with a show with no story anymore.

Around about the fifth/sixth series something happened to Game Of Thrones. Up until then it had been a diamond-hard, intense, unpredictable and ruthlessly realistic show, with characters who were terrible and cruel and funny and human, and who could never be reduced to the kind of goodie/baddie cliches that we were all so used to in fantasy fare like this.

Most importantly, never once did it pander to its fans and give them 'what they want'. The red wedding episode is, in my opinion, a turning point for modern mainstream television and a clarion call for everyone who wants artists to surprise them rather than simply please them. And the sad thing is that something like the red wedding won't happen again in GOT, can't happen again in GOT, because the people now leading the show do not think like G R R Martin; they don't have the cold, logical, politically realistic view of the world that he has. They don't see the world of Westeros in the same way as he did.

And so we are left with season 7 of Game Of Thrones, which is great to look at, still has some excellent characters, has a thrilling central narrative and is consistently enjoyable...and yet almost everything about the show that made it special has gone - gone is the slow mysteriousness of the way magic affected the world, and how powerful its effects might be; gone is the consistency of behaviour of the characters; gone are the logical, rigorous, entirely believable politics of the various kingdoms; most importantly, gone is the dizzying tension that came from knowing that the lives and deaths of even the most powerful characters were governed not by the demands of the viewers but by the demands of the storyline.
So we have a show which is still better than most things on television, is still compulsive, but has become flabby and soft and conventional where once it was as tight as a drum and unpredictable as the weather. It has become an enjoyable but ordinary show, and that's the most frustrating thing, because for a long while it was truly unique.

All that is gone now that the show is written by second grade film industry writers that turned it into yet another TV fantasy series, full of tropes, cliches, and repetitive "let's keep doing what we are doing". From paycheck to paycheck they boldly go, like others has gone before.

And the mysterious, frightening White Walkers? They are just plain zombies. Yep, zombies we all know and love. You just have to whack them with the right gizmo and they stay dead.

The first episode was totally stolen by Sam Tarwell filling bowls and emptying chamber pots that looked exactly the same. Oops, spoilers. That was the only genuinely fresh moment.

Only 2 episodes in season 7 and I'm already loving it. I think it will only get better from here. Finally all that was built up in the first 6 seasons is happening and that makes me so satisfied and so proud for being a fan of the show. Another must-see season of Game of Thrones.

Perhaps the best first episode since season four's "Two Swords". The dialogue has recaptured a lot that was lost in the last 2 seasons. The performances are great, mainly the big improvement in the performance by Pilou Asbæk as Euron Greyjoy. With Westeros looking smaller than ever, the stories have already started to collide in magnificent ways thanks to the winter, a time for wolves.

The excitement is fading with the current writing. The story has become predictable. Events are going too well for the favorite characters. The show thrived when demented villains won, heroes' fates hung on by a thread, and the anxiety of not knowing what would happen to these character's next.

Main plotlines were totally asinine, the show which built its following on its unpredictability is now as predictable as any hollywood action movie

    1) Plot of going across the wall to catch a weight to get is cersei to cooperate is one of the dumbest plot angles in any show ever. Why didnt they just show viserion flying over the wall on his excursion & being hunted by night king. Even that would have made more sense

    2) Mother of dragons is least bothered that she is being outwitted by cersei at every turn & that john snow just cost her one of her children. Instead she is drooling over him throughout the show

    3) The master schemer Littlefinger lost his head while trying to instigate teenage girl drama over some letter written years ago under duress. This angle was so poorly written it was shocking

    4) they spent 6 yrs peddling Danerys as the chosen one & Tyrion as a master strategist. Both characters seem incapable of doing anything

Basically the desire to turn John Snow into the primary character at expense of everything else has ruined the show.

I am actually now rooting for Cersei, the last well written character on the show

The moral grayness of many characters has also taken a back seat to a more classical good/evil theme, making them simpler and too easy to understand and predict.

Its departure from (or rather lack of) a source material has scathed the show. Plot points, arcs, and even dialogue are now devices used for fan service. Story-lines are now very linear and predictable. It really seems like the show's writing has been considerably dumbed down for mass appeal.

The seventh season of Game of Thrones has brought a major dip in the quality of the world's story. It's too simple, and a somewhat hollower version of it predecessors.

The writers of this show had it all delivered for them on a silver plate, and they still managed to **** it up. There is no logic behind many decisions made by the characters in the show, the plot is as shallow as it is predictable- it has became somewhat of a giant fan-service and thus lost its former glow.

That is what has made the show fantastic for the last six seasons. Viewers connected with primary and secondary characters, watching the tension build with a sense of foreboding as we see the inevitable collision, and then we watch the collision happen.

Most of that is gone this season. I understand the show writers are up against financial and deadline issues but this season has been non-stop event after event to the point where it's no longer believable. In the four episodes of this season we've seen more battles than we saw in an entire season and a half during the War of the Five Kings. Highgarden and Casterly Rock came and went with a whimper. The pacing of this season makes major plot points and characters seem to be teleporting around in rapid style and has given too many characters too much "plot armor" (specifically Euron, Bran, and Jaime).

While many of these action sequences have been decently done - especially the end of episode 4 this season - the short shrift given to the rest of the world and exposition leaves more questions than answers. Emotional impact of reunions or supposedly big moment events feel cheap because there's another one right around the corner. The emotional bombshell at the end of season 3 has all been forgotten by the end of the next 49 minute long episode.

I cannot fathom why people are giving this 8, 9, or 10 ratings. This is so far gone from what the previous 6 seasons of GoT were that it's hard to watch.

It really is disappointing, being a fan of the series since episode 1 way bad in 2011. Now there is no political intrigue or sense of who is good or bad. There is now a clear distinction, and its clearly good vs evil or everyone vs the army of the dead.

The stories aren't as vastly-numbered, making it easier for me to follow the show, and the action is seemingly more readily available. The future in terms of the narrative are also intriguing as the remnants of the Stark family seem to be on a path of reuniting (nothing is certain and nothing has been made apparent in that regard, so not a spoiler) and the focus shifts on the White Walkers and the two major forces remaining in the 7 Kingdoms (Lanister and Targaryen). After watching this shorter 7-episode season, which caps it all off with an extended season finale (1 hr 20 mins), I have to say this was my favorite season of GoT yet. The pacing is superb, there are big stories to unravel and as everything slowly fuses together the show suddenly becomes more cohesive than it ever had been. With only one more season to go it's sad to think that the mayhem is going to scale up a bit before it all comes to a sudden close. The only good news is that, despite an even shorter season 8 (6 episodes are planned), those episodes are going to be movie-length. I've never loved this show more than I do now after the season 7 finale. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am so disappointed with this new season. Episode 1 was about as thrilling as a tuna sandwich. The only really good part was the very beginning with Arya at the Freys. After that it was total anti-climax. Episode 2 half the characters that made this show great were killed off. In episode 3 even more of them. The dynamics between these characters was one of the best parts of this show. Of the ones that remain, they are boring and much changed. Dany is just full of herself and craving power, Jon is wimpy, and Cersei is actually boring! Boring! Cersei! After these episodes the "writers" feel a need to explain the writing. If the writing were any good, this wouldn't be necessary. They're late getting started, they've cut the number of episodes, and now 3/4 of the good characters are gone. Even Tyrion isn't the same. I'm going to give it one more episode and then I'm done if it doesn't pick up. I don't really see how it can, but I'm willing to hang in there for one more week. After many months of waiting, GOT series 7 arrived, with just the seven episodes to look forward to. Unfortunately, the series was ultimately a bit of a disappointment.
Don't get me wrong - the big set pieces and action sequences were still there, and certainly as jaw dropping and gripping to watch as they ever were.
The main problem is that the storyline has suffered. During the course of the series, the plot takes several improbable diversions, including a madcap episode set north of the wall, where events become so improbable they're almost laughable (though admittedly still interesting and gripping television).
During the season, we see only snatches of GOT at it's best; Daenerys' Dragon attack in episode 4, Olenna Tyrell's final scene, Cersei gaining revenge on the Sandsnakes, and most of episode 7, which is a fantastic episode and definitely one of the finest in the show's history.
But unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough to take away my feeling that the show has lost it's edge. Perhaps the shorter, seven episode season didn't help, as it felt like some of the writing had been rushed. Hopefully season 8 will live up to the hype, though will just six episodes, I fear that it may not. But then again, if it's anywhere near as good as the season 7 finale, then I certainly won't go away disappointed.

Dragons blowing stuff up is great and all, but if seasons 1-3 of Game of Thrones had been written and shot like this the show wouldn't have made it this far. It's entertaining, but I can't take it seriously any more. Just get it over with.

I know 7 is bit harsh rating for GoT but I am comparing it with itself or rather what incredible show it was in first 3 sessions and how it has slowed down in session 4, 5 and 6. Session 7 also follows the formula of slow start but ending the session with a bang so we are kept waiting for more.

The characters are beautifully layered, no one really appearing black and white though their motives may be. With Season 7 underway, I'm even more engrossed in Westeros and the wars to come!

The episode "Dragonstone" was perfectly set up. I think the slow pace was perfect; not too much, not too little. With "Stormborn" following, that pace amped up dramatically and again, beautifully. The character development is stunning and the crossing of plots keeps things on a brisk pace! I'm truly terrified for the characters I've fallen madly in love with.

    Keep it up, GoT! :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I found the premiere quite lame, not much happened. The Samwell reveal was underwhelming, he really needs to find something interesting in that tower or his entire character has been an utter failure. Really – not much happened, they tried to push Danny entering Dragonstone off as an epic ending, but it fell short, if it had ended with her discovering something within Dragonstone, that would have set up a lot more hype, but i guess something like that will have to wait, because this is game of thrones, and regardless of how much the trailers tries to make the series seem fast-paced it still moves at the pace of a snail.

Hopefully the rest of the season will be more interesting, and not so predictable as it would appear right now.

Do not believe any of those negative reviews. I honestly cannot understand why some reviewers have given this such a low rating. I think some people love the sound of their own voice and think their opinion is worth something and will be disagreeable simply for the sake of it.

Having said that, this show is stunning. I have never read the books and now I want to. There is so much crap on TV that is renewed year after year (CSI, House etc.) which uses cheap gags, pointless and sometimes ridiculous plots, unbelievable and many times one dimensional characters and yet all the truly great shows get cancelled.

There is enough brain-dead television. But once in a while a show comes along that transports you to another world and makes you believe in the magic of television again. Game of Thrones is one such show.

It is complex, multi-layered, surreal, vibrant, imaginative and it draws your eye in to the surprising level of detail, from the sweeping vistas, to the narrow dungeons, from the beautiful castles and magnificent trees, to the contrasting landscapes. It is worth watching just for the scenery alone.

Yes the acting seems a little cold and even wooden at times, but this is perfectly in keeping with the medieval look and feel of the show. Yes it is dark and gloomy, but again in keeping with the narrative.

The scripting is intelligent and well delivered by competent acting, led by Sean Bean perfectly cast as Lord Edard. Although Sean Bean is better known for brooding bad guys, he strikes the perfect balance between father, husband and Lord and soldier. He is well supported by other well known actors and many new to the scene.

After watching and sometimes enjoying Camelot, this show makes that one look more like "Merlin" by comparison. And where Camelot lacks in depth and scripting, Game of Thrones strikes the perfect balance between brooding medieval angst and wonderful fantasy story telling.

Even if you have never watched a fantasy show before, you should not miss this.

If you are objective in analyzing its aspects - directing, editing, plot, setting, production value, sound, music, dialogue, etc. - it should average about a 9.5, and below an 8 is just criminal.

Many of the battle scenes are spectacular even by Game of Thrones standards and, after years of pieces being put in place, it’s great to see everything finally coming to a head. As has increasingly been the case since events overtook the books however the show has been guilty of some sloppy writing on occasions, and that is particularly evident during these seven episodes.

One particularly noticeable example, which has been discussed at length on the web, was Daenerys rescue of Jon Snow and his gang from beyond the wall. The scene itself was undeniably edge of your seat stuff but the time scale required for her to reach them in the time just made no logical sense and could easily have been cleaned up with just a couple of minor changes. Yes, this is a fantasy show, but you have to remain consistent to the rules of the world you’ve created if you want to keep your viewers absorbed in proceedings.

I’ll admit I still look forward to watching a new episode of Game of Thrones more than virtually any other TV show I can think off but it no longer has the narrative consistency that made earlier seasons so unique.

This season is pretty much about that, Daenerys trying to take the throne, Cersei defending the throne and Jon Snow convincing the rest of westeros that a bigger danger is coming from beyond the wall.
This season had a major problem, wich is that it made me stop being afraid of the main characters to die, Jon Snow goes through really dangerous situations and i never believed that he could die, he became like the hero of the story and this is a really big problem, in previous seasons i was always afraid of the characters to die, i knew that no one was never safe, but now, there Deus ex maquina situations that won't let the main characters die, that is a big problem in this season.
There are really few political moments in this season, and those aren't complicated to understand like it was in other seasons. The stories told in this season are way more direct, and some of them aren't really well solved, like somethings really felt that were out of place. A thing that really bothered me was the conveniences and the senseless moments, there is somethings that happens that was just meant to be cool and didn't really made the story flow in a way that had sense, the timelapse in this season was relly wrong, it is better just to forget about it. But in other hand, it wasn't totally bad, it did had some nice political and story moments, mainly between Cersei and Tyrion, these two had the best story moments in the season, one fighting the other with strategy and words, that was very good, the season had some really interesting dialogues among some characters, that is geat, because it gave more structure for them.. There is a lot of fan service in this season, and some of them felt out of place, and the coherence in the narrative was a bit let on side, but it wasn't that bad.
The action in this season was in other level, it got really beyond anything that we have ever had in a television, HBO is in a completely other level. The coreography here in fights are really involving, it isn't unique, but is pretty damn cool, the dragons during the battles are so dope, they just come and they killed it, they are so dope.
The season was exciting, it was kind of a payoff of what we had before, it is finally everything flowering.
The Winterfell nucleo is not the best, it is nice to see what is going on there after so many time, but what happens there feels to much innocent, i got strange with those parts.
The character of Brandon Stark is horrible now, we just don't understand what he is doing, what functional he have, and he also is a jerk now, that is so bad, his journey in this season is that bad.
This seasons got some conclusions that are completely Deux ex maquina, it is in a level like some character comes out of nowhere and gave some easy solution, this happens more than one time, it is lazy.
One good thing about this season is that the winter has finally come, and how they they deal with it was very nice, all the suits are changed, of everyone, even the soldiers, it had a good detail job here. When it finally got there it have a beautiful sequence, done with major and a great song in the background.
The acting was interesting, Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger did a very good job during the whole series, maybe he was a bit to much caricature, with a deep voice and saying that he wants everything, but still, i totally believed that he knew what he was doing and felt completely safe and having a plan for everything. Maisie Williams in this season had a different behavior, she was like the waif in other seasons, i'm not sure about that, if that was a good idea, i feel that is a totally different character in not the best way, i don't Arya to become a T-1000.
Emilia Clarke wasn't all that good, her interpretation in some moments wasn't enough for me to believe in some emotions.
This seasons wasn't perfect, but even with that it never felt boring, the plot runned, somethings was really dumb, but i liked the most part of it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 seasons, Game of Thrones is still arguably the best thing that's ever happened to television. However, it's becoming abundantly clear that the show runners are ready for this show to end, and it's impacting the quality of storytelling quite a bit. The writing this season was quite sloppy compared to previous. Plot holes and ridiculously absurd story lines were sprinkled all throughout the story. Specifically, the Winterfell storyline and the mission beyond the Wall. The writers are doing a disservice to Arya's character and have been doing so since the middle of season 6. It's quite obvious at this point that the reason that D&D were such great writers and showrunners was because of GRRM's material. Now that they are past the book material, they are no where near the writers they once were. They seem to have abandoned logic and effective story telling and replaced it with spectacle. Don't get me wrong, season 7 was an incredible season. But, it seems the show has all but lost the little moments of dialogue, political intrigue, and character developments that made the first 4 seasons what I would consider the 4 best seasons of television ever. Additionally, they've lost the sense of intensity and anxiety that was so prevalent in the first few seasons. We never knew who was going to die next. Nobody seemed safe. They have lost that; it appears that actions no longer demand appropriate consequences like they did in the first few seasons. I just hope that the showrunners are able to deliver a final season that both we as fans and the show truly deserves. Expand

Even with all that, Game Of Thrones S7 still does a great job continuing its main characters' arcs to set everything up for what hopefully is gonna be an epic final season next year. Expand

The first scene ... with the 'Mission Impossible' mask removal... was HORRIBLE. Jump the shark horrible. But then the rest of the show was excellent. So I'm happy that the show recovered. But a bunch of us watching audibly gasped/laughed out loud/screamed at the TV at the end of scene 1. Writers: was that even necessary!!!??? The show would have been better without it, imho.

GAME OF THRONES is an unprecedented spectacle. The next season showed that even in a very short time creators can move the story forward without beating around the bush. Spectacular scenes great CGI and lots of action.

This is the first season of GOT in a long time that wasn't mostly filler. Seven episodes in a season is a good number, and HBO should have ordered seven per season after season three. Looking at the ratings, seems like fans appreciated the tighter story line and no nonsense.

This season of Game of Thrones is full of non-stop tension, terrific action sequences and story moments that help fill in the bigger pieces to an almost complete puzzle. While the season is shorter, this show proves why it’s one of the biggest and best in the world.

The 6th season was still more or less contrast with previous, but 7 is too beaten out from the general history. All because the scenario isn't guided by the book any more. History became fragmentary and not coherent. Littlefinger death - bright to that confirmation. It isn't clear at all why to divide the last season on two. If at the level are made of 7 series 3, and are important really for a plot only 2. And in general the series begin to become boring and the level of series falls because of delay in actions (thanks to screenwriters who so preserve the fateful queen of Cersei). Expand

The seventh season of "Game of Thrones" is basically the calm before the storm. The characters break free from anything that has been holding them back as they have to prepare for war. Meetings, team-ups and alliances that we had or had not expected are finally happening. Winter has arrived. It's probably the fastest, most epic and most beautiful looking season of the show yet.

The Game Of Revenge is starting to reveal it´s only rule - kill or be killed, there is nothing deep in it, the only interesting part is the way to be killed, unfortunately the most pity way to die came from the most interesting character Lady Olenna - why kill herself, when there is always hope. The most important question - who is the ultimate killer and stands the last - the person who has been killed already I guess. Expand

Deteriorating as the show people take over completely. In the early seasons all the changes they made were terrible and showed they didn't understand the source material, but they were relatively small changes. Now it slips into vacuousness.

    THE GOOD
The performance by the actors were as great as ever, with some old characters coming back.
We FINALLY get to see some important moments where we've been anticipating for years.
First few episodes are AWESOME (can't say much cuz spoilers)
The last two episodes are EPIC. It really does live up to its name.
The season end with the greatest cliffhanger of all season.

    THE BAD
Most of the plots which cross episodes doesn't really make sense outside of the episode and does feel like it is there to create show and drama for the audience.
Many characters die in this season but only handful of death feels natural
There are significant correlation to who is fan favorite and who is surviving .
CGI of the dragons still feel too CGI

    OVERALL
I say 7/10 a generous score. I might have given 8/10 if it didn't kill off my favorite characters, but hey, that's Game of Thrones.
This been said, this season did have a great leap of faith from a political drama based show, to brute force based show. The beauty of The Game of Thrones was the fact that there wasn't a clear good and evil, but the show is becoming more and more towards it.

This been said, the show still have great potential and they still have a lot to meddle around + they still have a whole season to finish it. So, I'm Hyped up for season 8!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love Game of thrones, it has become one of my favorite shows. But, i must be honest, this is not better than the other six seasons. In the trailers, interviews and all of that stuff they promise us a lot of war, difficulties and drama. We got that, but not quite as promise. This would not be a problem if at least something would have improved, but it doesn´t. The acting continues been good, the cinematography, the visual effects are also great, but, at least to me, that doesn´t improve the lack of memorable moments. The only episode that i think is really good, is the last one. Some will say that i´m crazy because i forgot the battle at the end of episode 4, and the episode 6 with the white walkers, but, in those episodes, there´s only a scene that is good, and is the one with the battles, not the rest of the episodes. This season is not bad, but, compare to the other six seasons, this would not be considered as a successful season. The fact that George RR Martin words are not longer part of this season, is remarkable. Expand

The only real highlight of this season is Beyond The Wall. Aside from that, It was an obvious rush job. They essentially crammed 2 seasons worth of content into a shortened 7 episode season in order to race to the finish for next season. Not to say that some parts of this season weren't enjoyable but it was rather predictable at times and nowhere near as good as it could have been.

It was always a show where actions had consequences and no one was saved at the last minute. In the sixth episode just as you think Jon will die (again) Daenerys flies in with her dragons. Then when Jon is left behind his uncle comes along and saves him. How did he even know Jon was there? Game of Thrones season 7 is enthralling and sweeping with excitement that every episode leaves you anticipating the next. Everything on a technical and acting standpoint is incredible, but everything else in terms of writing and story narrative feels rushed, unfortunately. With the show going off from George R. R. Martin books, it becomes more transparent that the details in characters and pacing is lacking. It’s not a bad season, just messy compared to previous seasons.

Let's start with the positives: The biggest praise I can give for a show like this is making TV cinematic, especially with episodes like “The Spoils of War” that is a treat for the eyes. This is the first time we’ve seen these dragons attack on this grand of a scale. There’s only small incidents where I can recall feeling tense while watching something, but episodes like this proves the excellence of TV - same thing applies with “Beyond the Wall”, in spite of the flaws.

The first interaction between Jon and Daenerys is great. I liked how they couldn’t stand each other at first with Jon refusing to knee before her and bursting Daenerys ego. I mean, we got two powerful leaders with legendary status clashing with each other. It’s until later when they relationship becomes more tender and open, which would be rush in any other show, but it takes good actors to make it believable in a small amount of time.

Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke and everyone else is fantastic as usual. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, on the other hand, I thought is really excellent this season, and in previous seasons as well. Beautifully portraying a conflicted Jaime who will make the toughest decisions in the upcoming season finale, as I’m predicting. His facial expressions says it all and I’m glad the actor is finally getting credit - long overdue.

Viserion death (Daenerys dragon) was heartbreaking and made The Night King a threatening presence. You soon realize that Jon’s bravery is sometimes his flaw, and the whole mission to capture a white walker to show the Lannister's who’s the real enemy wasn’t anything heroic, just suicide. Even when the characters reflect on their foolish decisions, it’s almost similar to when Gandalf from ‘Lord of the Rings’ questions if the whole eagle plan was even a good strategy.

The visual effects are nearly photo realistic at times, sometimes better than most blockbusters we’re getting recently. The score is breathtaking and Ramin Djawadi doesn't disappoint. The cinematography with the mixture of cold blues and striking landscapes is impeccable. As I said before, everything on a technical standpoint is flawless, but what about the rest?

    Now for my issues:

I honestly think cutting the episodes down to 7 probably wasn’t the best idea, because with characters zigzagging to different locations with a certain urgency, but not once did I feel there was a pasting of time, as the whole thing felt like it took place in one day. I’m guessing characters can teleport now (not literally), but in the world of ‘Game of Thrones’ it doesn’t sound too far fetched.

Also, the whole Sansa and Arya subplot is one of the most pointless things ever. It’s only purpose is tricking the audiences into thinking Arya is going to kill her own sister for some sort of revenge, which by the way, her reasoning makes no sense whatsoever. At the end it’s just a trap for Littlefinger, even though there are plenty of scenes when he wasn’t in the room or nearby to eavesdrop - so again, WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO TRICK BESIDES LITTLEFINGER? I didn’t like how Lord Baelish 'Littlefinger' existed the show as I don’t believe the sneaky and collective slimeball would’ve at least went out with a fight. Trial by combat wasn’t an option?

I’m starting to think the show itself is embracing the fandom a little, because while winter is closing in and tension is rising, the danger for the main characters feels safe with the endless amount of fake outs and convenient rescues. The bamboozle starts whenever a beloved character is facing danger up close and you think the worst will happen, but at the last minute is saved and you sigh with relief. The entire season feels like that and takes away any sort of danger in these type of situations. It’s becoming fan fiction at this point.

Overall rating: Despite my mixed feelings - I’m still excited for season 8. I mean, I’ve been watching this show from the very beginning so it wouldn’t make sense for me not to be. Again, this is nowhere near a bad season, just wasn’t as strong as the previous ones, mainly on re-watch.

The cinematography, the direction, the acting and the visual effects are spectacular as always, but not the writing. The season took a downfall with poor stories, undeveloped storylines and lack of logic. Instead of taking advantage of the smaller amount of episodes and having more quality, the writers are rushing to finish the final two seasons, satisfying only the so-called "shippers".

Lead acting this season was outstanding especially from Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Pilou Asbæk, Gwendoline Christie, Jerome Flynn, John Bradley, and Kristofer Hivju. Supporting acting the season was excellent especially from Diana Rigg, Rory McCann, Iain Glen, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Aidan Gillen, Liam Cunningham, Alfie Allen, and Bella Ramsey. This season the battles and fights were phenomenal especially the battle between the Lannister army against Daenerys, Drogon, and the Dothraki, the battle between Jon Snow, Tormund Giantsbane, The Hound, The Brotherhood, Daenerys, Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion against the undead wights, and the fight training between Brienne and Arya. This season the visual effects were remarkable especially undead Viserion wight, undead Snow Bear, Drogon, and Daenerys riding on Drogon. The costumes this season were terrific especially Lena Headey's costumes, Emilia Clarke's costumes, and Kit Harington's costumes. The storytelling and writing were wonderful this season. The makeup effects were great this season especially on the undead Giant wight and Jorah's Greyscales. The music was great in this season. Also the last scene was really cool. Ignoring all the tropes which separated GOT from other fantasy and embracing ridiculous nonsense based in public, popular, demand, ignoring the fact that the writers are not subject to the whims of the audience, Season 7 truly is the worst season of GOT, and it goes to show that without GRRM's books for guidance, Dan and David are really struggling to capture Thrones essence.

Another was the introduction of Samwell Tarly's life in Old Town--who knew this show, which has mastered wartime action but had never produced a quickfire sequence quite like this one, with its repetitive chamber pots to be emptied, could be quite this sharp?
