Galavant is such an entertaining show. With funny characters that evolve as the show progresses and fantastically written songs. The story is really simple but the execution it's, actually, pretty good, with some great twists and turns. Galavant is a funny, smart and fast, with great music and great characters

Generally speaking I hate musicals but this show is funny and smart. The musical numbers remind me of the first Shrek movie. Surprisingly well done. So when are they going to cancel it?

This show is an absolute hoot and one that deserves a second viewing to fully appreciate it. I personally binged watched it on abc.com twice over two evenings. Even my very skeptical wife was hooked. It's silly, Pythonesque, slightly twisted, and an utter delight. No spoilers. Just watch it! It's even streaming on Amazon now.

A quite funny and watchable show. I was a little hesitant to start watching it but as many have said, it is so different from anything else on TV it is a nice change. The best way to describe it is as a serialized Broadway musical. I love the way modern references (language, etc.) are incorporated and yet it is still a "knight in shining (sort-of) armor" story. If you have my mix of tastes, it's a joy to watch.
Mix monty python irony with catchy musical pieces, shuffle with generic fantasy, spice up with soo many citations and a few 4th wall breaches... great.
Sadly only two seasons to watch, but two very pleasant seasons.

Tickled my funny bone big time. Silly, goofy and just a little bawdy. The most original and creative television program in recent memory. "Maybe You're Not The Worst Thing Ever" is my all time favorite new song--I want to sing it to so many peeps.

Hits the mark on exactly what it's trying to be. The critics must be taking this too seriously? It's as if Mel Brooks and Monty Python had a baby, it's all tongue-in-cheek and was really quite funny. The songs are hilarious and the true gem of the show.

    Well...

...if you are very fond of movies and theatrical musicals, you will definitely enjoy this brand new series. I'd enjoy this from the very opening of this show. Very humorously show with a cliche story made musical! :D (Fun for the whole family and Friends.) (And those who love musicals.)

    P.s. 10/10 indeed!

Unwatchably awful mess. Derivative ("Princess Bride"), with not even a modicum of charm and "characters" instead of character, this disaster seems to aim no higher than Mel Brooks at-his-worst ("Men In Tights"), and doesn't even succeed at that.

Galavant is incredibly entertaining. From the moment Galavant arrived to "save" Madalena only to find that she was perfectly happy staying & marrying the King, I was hooked. The songs are hilarious & I can't help falling in love with this show.

i've been watching for 15 minutes and i still can't decide if this show is being ironic or not. i think i would think it even more awful if it were trying to be ironic because it's not even a little funny or entertaining. however if it was being purposefully bad at being ironic than that would be both funny and ironic.

Galavant is so refreshing and needed in the sea of dumb TV Series already being aired. Characters are witty, sometimes very sarcastic but we like it that way. Not to mention quite original songs as way of expression. I hope to see several more seasons.

King and the chef are the two best characters.

If you're a tween who like to sing along with the TV shows, this one is for you.

The acting was far too over the top to be convincing.

It became less than enjoyable to watch.

Galavant is none of those things. Galavant is essentially, BBC's Merlin with dumber humor and ... singing. Now while I am personally not a fan of the musical, I do understand that many people are. Hit shows like Nashville and Smash do extremely well. That being said, Galavant's songs are Sondheim-esque in the sense that they are sing-song cat-in-the-hat-rhyme nonsense. It's pointless and abhoringly annoying. The show is entirely unoriginal, including the humor and the decent characters can't make up for it.

I had to force myself to watch this abortion just to convince myself that a network actually had the gall to put this on TV for public consumption. I am considering avoiding the entire lineup on ABC, if the network thinks so little of the viewers than I do not think I can stomach watching anything else that they are willing to show. And also a cast of not-so-famous actors that are very talented in; dancing, singing, and acting. The main protagonist is a knight in not-so-shining armor who is on a quest to save his queen (even though his "Queen" isn't that into him). Standing in his way however, is a psychopathic yet playful antagonist. The King named Richard (A.k.a. Tricky Dick). The characters are written very well, so well in fact that some viewers (Such as I) may begin to feel sorry for King Richard. This show is over the top in silliness and it is perfect for a four week short series. I'm not sure if Galavant could keep it's charm for an entire season of around 10-16 episodes but it is perfect for a short series. Expand

Galavant was pretty great. It wasn't the best show ever, nor the most original, it's characters and plot were deliberate parodies of classic fantasy themes. But what really made it were the songs. Sure, most of them were not necessarily great either, but I gotta give them points for trying and doing what no one else is doing. If the folks behind Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the Princess Bride got together and made a musical, it would go something like this. Netflix or someone should grab the rights and keep this series going. One of the most entertaining and original things on television in a long time.

Musicals are supposed to have great music. The music here is the exposition/rhyme type that a twelve-year-old would likely write if asked. I'm not a huge fan of musicals in general, but Galavant has many puns, silly gags, and funny jokes to keep me coming back. It's one of the most original shows out there. I hope it finds an audience because it makes me giggle. Simply a very amusing program!
