Frank’s screeds will be familiar to anyone who has caught Burr’s superior stand-up act, but something gets lost when bringing that voice and sensibility over to a scripted, animated format. F Is for Family spends too much time working itself up to a full boil--which arrives only in the last episode-and-a-half.

The tone is more restrained than outrageous, but Burr and Price don’t have a strong enough perspective to compensate for the mediocre humor. Their average family is a little too average.

Suburban family of five, work-weary father, meek mother, snotty kids. The animation itself doesn't really allow for detailed sight gags either. It's pretty stiff. I know Bill Burr is bound for big things in film and tv, but even the great ones have a swing and a miss. Full Review »
