It's a short debut season, but hopefully the next will be full orders. The writing is excellent. The show is full of callbacks and I can only imagine S2 will be loaded with them from S1. The opening title sequence is an Easter Egg where I discover a new hidden meaning behind each object for every episode. Bill Burr has perfectly captured life in the rustbelt circa 1973. You can't help but bond with the Murphy family, especially if you grew up in the 70's. Where can I buy the soundtrack?

OK, have fun and come home when the streetlights come on!

This show is funny, charming and overall gives you everything you want in a animated comedy based in the 1970's, the animation is cool, the voice acting is great and this show is just so cool, cant wait to see what's next for the well written show.

I really liked. It reminded me of BoJack Horseman. It's hilarious and dramatic at the same time, all this in only six episodes. I want more right now.

An absolutely satire representation of the '70s, showing the semi-racism, post-war feelings of a father, children living in the ghettos, "rebel-age" teenager, and a wife with a boring life. It has the feeling of the '70s all in the mix, and it is depressingly funny. It may be a sad show, but at the same time, the comedy and feeling of the 70s is incredibly strong with this. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. This show wasn't exactly my life, but it's pretty close to how a lot of us lived. It is funny and painful. I expect at some point this season or next, the show will fully hit its stride with the writing, and the voice actors will know their characters fully. When that happens, watch the F out.

It sets itself apart from other animated sitcoms by having the guts to truly depict a dysfunctional family at their worst. It's filled with laughs and some surprisingly heart-breaking moments. There is also a surprising level of connectivity between the episodes.

In only six episodes the characters manage to fight their way into your heart. You see at their best and pretty much always at their worst. The selfishness, the depression, the anger, the disappointment and even the hate, the show is at it's best when it's depicting all of the reality of a family that struggles to get by.

The show takes those elements and manages to make hilarious moments out of them. Some of the content is truly horrifying and sad, and it certainly doesn't shy away from that, but the show manages to make us laugh in the process. All in all this is a wonderful dark comedy. One that may even get some tears from you. I, for one, am truly impressed and highly recommend you check this out.

Bill Burr and Sam Rockwell in a cartoon about the '70's, need I say more? The only thing is that the Sam Rockwell character seems exactly like Matthew McConaghey, it is a disconcerting.

I was really hoping this would be a better show. Unfortunately it feels extremely dull and the animation is pretty cheap. Im pretty disappointed, especially after all the hype Burr was trying to create for it- he should stick to stand up.

It reminded me of BoJack Horseman too, and I just loved this. I laughed and I was fascinated by the drama that happens, all this in just six episodes, which, although short, wonderful.

I was worried that I'd be saying this, but it's a pretty familiar, well-trodden format. Suburban family of five, work-weary father, meek mother, snotty kids. The animation itself doesn't really allow for detailed sight gags either. It's pretty stiff. I know Bill Burr is bound for big things in film and tv, but even the great ones have a swing and a miss.

It's not laugh out loud that's for sure. The main character is en route for a meltdown that will doubtless end with police tapes around the house and a TV channel helicopter overhead as the bodies are wheeled out. The animation is authentically 70s, which is to say it's pretty awful, and the voice acting is patchy at best. If this was a live action show, it would probably draw comparisons to "All in the Family" and those type of sitcoms from a bygone era. In fact, though it's animated, that still feels like an apt comparison. Bill Burr does a great job of capturing family dynamics as well as capturing that certain era. That being said, I thought the first two episodes were dry for my taste. This is not a good show. Honestly I did have a few short lived smirks during the first episode. However its far more depressing than it is funny. Not that that kind of thing doesn't have its place, but its place is not in a cartoon comedy. I am a big fan of Bill Burr and Sam Rockwell. I really did not find this show funny. The swearing is over the top, a bit redundant. The themes are actually boring. I noticed that this show did get a lot of positive reviews. I'm sure it will be picked up but I will not be watching.

With per-episode running times of 25 minutes or longer (around four minutes more than a standard network animated show), there are some pacing issues and general fuzziness here and there. But for the most part, it's a neat little series with potential to be a whole lot more.

After six episodes, much has changed and the focal points indicate a knowledge of the deeper impact Frank has on his family. The first season even sets up beautifully for a fascinating and much-needed role reversal in Season 2, but the overall tone leaves much to be desired. Primarily, it's not very funny.

Frank’s screeds will be familiar to anyone who has caught Burr’s superior stand-up act, but something gets lost when bringing that voice and sensibility over to a scripted, animated format. F Is for Family spends too much time working itself up to a full boil--which arrives only in the last episode-and-a-half.
