Summary: Part I is an episode of the 2005 BBC television miniseries Elizabeth I in which Britain's Queen Elizabeth I (Helen Mirren) declines an offer of marriage from France's boorish Duke of Anjou (Jeremie Covillault). Meanwhile, Elizabeth decides to exile her best friend Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester (Jeremy Irons) from court.
