Summary: The famous club The Comedy Store was founded in 1972 by stand-up comedian Sammy Shore, but its success is largely due to the role of his wife Mitzi Shore, who gained control of the club in 1974 after their divorce, and played a mother role for many of the comics whose careers were begun there, including her youngest son, Pauly Shore.
