Summary: Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine that pertains to diseases and surgery of the visual pathways. Literally, ophthalmology means "the science of eyes". Robert and his uncle get a check-up from their optometrist and then by an ophthalmologist, who often performs the surgery that corrects disorders and discrepancies of the eye.
