    As is the case with most seasons under Moffat's direction, the major episodes are amazing, but the ones in between are rather "meh". The season-long mystery is actually dealt with in two parts, which brought a nice touch to the story. I found the second half much stronger than the first, dealing with issues such as change and doing good.

    Bill is a slightly generic companion, but I found her a much better complement to Capaldi's Doctor than Clara ever was. Nardole brought just the right touch of humour and seriousness, and I'm dissappointed he is not staying longer. The chemistry between all three actors was great. I would actually say all four, since a recurring character is very well integrated into the story and adds a very needed... human touch.

    Capaldi, as usual, is quite good, but, as usual, I found his Doctor too... serious? Angry, maybe? Everything seems so intense, the good-natured Doctor sometimes seems so far away.

    Strangely enough, the Christmas special (Capaldi's last, so maybe it should be Series 11?), is amazing. It delves into Capaldi's Doctor's personality like never before, and now that he has reached his final episode, I finally understand him. This should have happened much sooner, I think, I might have liked this version of the Doctor more.

    Pearl Mackie's casting is spot-on as the Doctor's new companion in this delightful, smart and well acted final season for the Twelfth doctor and Steven Moffat.

    This season started in the best way, the new companion is exceptional, majestic interpretation of Capaldi, I hope they keep this pace for all episodes !! :)

    wow i enjoy this season bill has great character asking questions to the doctor that new viewers will probably ask its great season to show newcomers this is what i was hoping for new it was like they rebooted the show to show how great this season can be i cant wait until chris chibnail is the head writter for season 11

    The Pilot is a really nice start to series 10. Pearl Mackie is a huge breath of fresh air as Bill, Capaldi is once again very good, and Matt Lucas is an enjoyable presence, even if he doesn't get much to do. While the cinematography in Doctor Who is always pretty good, I particularly liked the long shot when Bill enters the TARDIS in this episode.     As a whole, series 10 was pretty great series, and probably my favorite series with Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. The cast is very good, the episodes are fun (even if Empress of Mars and The Eaters of Light are weak spots), and the tone was more optimistic than the past few series.    … Expand

    Capaldi's best season by far. They finally dropped the annoying angry man tone and introduced an interesting companion (Bill). The ensuing teacher/pupil set-up was far more successful. The writing too was more imaginative and had a greater sense of fun about it. Shame Capaldi is going now that he has finally found his feet as Doctor Who.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Series 10 is the breath of fresh air that Capaldi's era desperately needed. Series 8 was a weak start, as the Twelfth Doctor struggled to find his personality, which unfortunately made him not so relatable. Series 9 brilliantly developed his character, and most of the individual episodes were good, but the series arc was terrible and lazily put together at the last moment. This season abandons all that for a blank slate approach focused on character, entertainment, and adventure. Not only does this see Capaldi at his best and most likeable and agreeable, but all the acting was on point, as Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie, Matt Lucas, Michelle Gomez, John Simm, and David Suchet delivered fantastic performances, and have great chemistry with the rest of their co-stars. The political messages are well handled, and there are very few bad episodes. This season also does a great job as an era ender, even if it means ditching characters (like Bill) who deserved more character work. But above all that, the finale is so good, that it is the best one since Series 4's Journey's End. It is one that concludes character arcs rather than story-lines, which is so refreshing, as we haven't seen this for a quite some time. I also think that Twice Upon a Time is the best Twelfth Doctor story. My individual ratings for each episode are: The Return of Doctor Mysterio 4/10, The Pilot 7/10, Smile 6/10, Thin Ice 7/10, Knock Knock 8/10, Oxygen 8/10, Extremis 8/10, Pyramid at the End of the World 7/10, The Lie of the Land 2/10, Empress of Mars 8/10, The Eaters of Light 7/10, World Enough and Time 8/10, The Doctor Falls 10/10, Twice Upon a Time 10/10.… Expand

    If the first episode of the new season--which is Capaldi’s last as the Doctor--is a bit of a greatest-hits rehash, that is easy to forgive. Mackie is an energetic and enjoyable addition to the show, and her down-to-Earth character brings a healthy scepticism to all things Doctor-related. Even more charming than Bill’s curiosity and intelligence are her interactions with Nardole (Matt Lucas).

    It looks like this will be a fun season. The first episode is called “The Pilot,” and in its way reintroduces us to the Doctor by seeing him through Bill’s uninitiated eyes. ... Mackie, a relative unknown, proves instantly likable, and the character distinguishes itself from the other companions in the series.
