To many new storylines and a lot of boring and filler like episodes. Loved season 1 and 2 but this just wasnt worth the time to watch. Sorry to say but this season was a huge disappointment.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Watch season 3's mermaid episode and you'll see the very embodiment of everything wrong with Disenchantment in general. It can't decide which which direction it wants to go. It suddenly decides to inject a new plot element (evidently Bean is gay now despite being attracted to men in season 1) without resolving an old plot thread and then continue to meander along without explaining anything until the last minute when the show suddenly decides it cares again only for the plot to flatline once more. In the mean time it tries to not so subtly inject feminism and gender politics. Disenchantment once had alot of potential but now its just frustrating and boring. It doesn't even want to be a comedy anymore. Just turn it off and let it die. The show itself doesn't care anymore. Why should we? Expand

This was just a painfully slow and boring slog. Even the characters make it explicitly clear that they couldn't care less about anything happening. It's all just random nonsense. I only finished it because I have a compulsive need to finish shows I start. I probably won't start season 4 at all. I don't need another however many hours of misery, I already have plenty after season 3.

I'm seeing it now: this show has let go of all vexations to satisfy the majority masses, embracing tone-deaf humor with such obvious pride that we can't help but acknowledge the amount of ridiculousness it has achieved. Your typical high-quality cartoon can't top this, let alone the ones critics praise that do too much. This show keeps getting better. Finally there are no filler episodes and the season works as a whole. But the cliffhangers last minute are really tiring at this point.

Once again I watched the entire season with a perpetual edge of satisfaction. It’s not that the characters aren’t enjoyable. It’s not that the world created isn’t interesting and growing and filled with potential storylines and narratives. It’s that the plot seems so constantly shy of any true actual climax. It’s that the plot seems so constantly shy of any true actual climax. It’s that we continue to have new storylines introduced before previous stories are completed. Serialize or don’t. Do not fall painfully in the middle where we never really feel any one story is that engaging or meaningful. I will continue to watch as they hopefully actualize some meaningful drama or return to a complete and satisfying episodic structure. I am desperate for one of these two to materialize in a graphically stunning world that I have come to love if only in the gaps I have self imagined between the unfulfilling and tangled plot lines. In an attempt to build out the world and the rest of the bloated ensemble, Disenchantment not only shortchanges its heroes but also loses sight of what made the series modestly fun in the first place.
