    The second season that no one asked for hit our screens and was unbelievably even worse than before. With less Karl Pilkington most episodes go by without a single laugh, and I’m not sure there’s ever been a worse character on TV than Special Brew drinking Kevin whom I want to punch every time he opens his mouth.

    The lack of laughs could be somewhat forgiven if the ‘drama’ side of    The second season that no one asked for hit our screens and was unbelievably even worse than before.     The lack of laughs could be somewhat forgiven if the ‘drama’ side of things was better written but the subtlety that made The Office so good is completely absent and a semi-talented ten year old could write most of what passes for plot.

    Derek is one of the worst shows to come out of this country in a while and it’s hard to believe there was enough of an audience for this second season to be commissioned.    … Expand

    An episode of The Office or Extras would be wasted on Derek; he’s completely happy when he’s watching an online video of little piggies and bunnies doing cute things. Derek has all the creative ambition of one of those videos, and Gervais has cast himself as the cutest bunny.

    The second season mostly upholds the first's tricky precedent, but the absence of regular Gervais associate Karl Pilkington means the yuks are a bit less hearty.
