Even after five episodes, the new JSA still seems far removed from being able to take on these experienced supervillains. The potential for fun in the series’ future episodes likely lies in viewing their determined efforts to try. ... Most of all, though, we have to hope that Pat (Luke Wilson) takes a bigger role in mentoring these young heroes: He’s way too effective and enjoyable a character to be stuck on the sidelines for long. Story-wise, Stargirl isn’t breaking many molds; the villains introduced in the first three episodes are mostly indistinguishable from a lot of the Arrowverse’s rogues gallery, and the drama between a freshly-moved teen and their step-parent is a tale as old as time. Just saw episode 10 ("Brainwave Jr."), and while this season so far has been spectacular and such a pleasant surprise (definitely my favorite new show of 2020), this episode made me realize what a gem Stargirl truly is. Just riveting, heartfelt, genuine and moving in so many ways... Stargirl is my 2nd favorite new show of 2020, my 3rd favorite superhero show, and one of my favorite shows of all time. The performances from Luke Wilson, Neil Hopkins, Trae Romano, Anjelika Washington, Christopher James Baker, Amy Smart, Justin Austin Walker, Brec Bassinger, Neil Jackson,Stargirl is my 2nd favorite new show of 2020, my 3rd favorite superhero show, and one of my favorite shows of all time. The performances from Luke Wilson, Neil Hopkins, Trae Romano, Anjelika Washington, Christopher James Baker, Amy Smart, Justin Austin Walker, Brec Bassinger, Neil Jackson, Meg DeLacy, Eric Goins, Cameron Gellman, Will Deusner, and Yvette Monreal were outstanding. The writing was stupendous. The character development was exceptional especially with Courtney, I love how the new JSA started out as normal teens and slowly developed into superheros but still room to grow over the seasons to come. The visual effects were phenomenal especially the Cosmic Staff, S.T.R.I.P.E, Soloman Grundy, Dragon King, and Icicle. The makeup and hairstyling was fantastic especially on Brec Bassinger, Joy Osmanski, Meg DeLacy, Anjelika Washington, Eric Goins, Lesa Wilson, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, and Hina X. Khan. The costumes were excellent especially on Brec Bassinger, Meg DeLacy, Joy Osmanski, Eric Goins, Yvette Monreal, Cameron Gellman, Neil Jackson, Anjelika Washington, Christopher James Baker, Amy Smart, and Neil Hopkins. The fight choreography and stunt work was remarkable especially Stargirl's. This was an A+ 1st season can't wait for the next.… Expand

A great cast with an interesting screenplay made this 'coming of age superhero' action-dramedy fun to watch (only pilot so far). Gotta say though, the action/fight scenes looked low tier for a 2020 showing. The series deserves a 10 for the starting 2-3 minutes of the first episode alone. I just hope they didn't blow 90% of the budget on it.

I strangely found myself interested in the series even though its teen-focused. Luke is fantastic and he plays the role perfectly; he really adds to the depth of the series. The villains are what really drive this show. They have done the right work there. Compared to the majority of superhero TV shows out there, these villains are miles apart.

The heroes' backstories are pretty well done. Though the characters themselves aren't as interesting as the villains. They need some improvement to get me to care about them. At this time I'm rooting for the villains!… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After seeing the first 5 minutes, I know that DC can do better! The first 5 minutes is the show we deserve to see. The rest of the series is OK, but Stargirl must have brain-damage because she is always trying to fight these guys who keep beating her senseless repeatedly even though they killed the entire JSA and those guys had Flash, Green Lantern and the Thunderbolt. I guess you have to go with it. Although, It does seem silly that after killing the JSA that the ISA sits around for 10 years doing pretty much nothing. Finally, the new Dr Midnight is a bit too much. Take it down a notch.… Expand

What's here that we haven't seen before? The first episode was laughably bad. I'll give it a chance for Luke but it all seems unnecessary. Sadly.
