Dave is nothing if not a show for a very specific taste. It’s too smart to be labeled sophomoric, and while it’s packed with really great acting and a lot of heart, it’s also entirely common and accurate to use the word “weird” to describe it. Burd and his team here haven’t made Dave more likable—in fact, the opposite may be true—but he’s increasingly surrounded by people who call him on his shit, which makes for sharper humor that feels like it’s taking risks with more confidence, even as Lil Dicky himself lacks exactly that. ... I wasn’t individually blown away by any one single episode like I was with “Hype Man.” Instead, I was collectively impressed with how well the new season maintains its creative momentum. No, Dave isn’t quite on the level of Atlanta, but some of the tonal swings that creators Dave Burd and Jeff Schaffer are taking are comparably ambitious, even if they’re frequently buried in that aforementioned onslaught of penis jokes. More confident than the first season, this “Dave” shows a side of the fictional Burd that’s more believable. ... While “Dave” embraces too many guest stars, it doesn’t shortchange GaTa (the show’s stealth weapon) or Burd. I was so surprised by Dave last season, that last scene at the end of the first episode was so much fun it hooked me, and I was delighted by pretty much all of last season. These first two episodes of this season were pretty much a bummer, Dave's a real jerk, and there wasn't enough actualI was so surprised by Dave last season, that last scene at the end of the first episode was so much fun it hooked me, and I was delighted by pretty much all of last season. Dave Burd's sophomore season has weak dick. It's almost like this season is an allegory for his nonexistent album. The co-stars are the only one that help this series along. Santino is excellent.

The show honestly feels like a bait n switch in between the first and second season. The subtlety and smartness laced with the humor of the first season is now a slog through episodes of never ending force fed crap pretending to be gold. Season 2: Massive Let Down
nce I was done with the first season, I had really high hopes for following seasons. Unfortunately Season 2 completely sucks, like big time. Depressing, nothing interesting happens and it's just horrible. It is also very weird and he's lowkey coming out of theSeason 2: Massive Let Down

Too bad man, I had such high hopes for this show. Will not be watching anymore episodes.
Season one was awesome. Such an entertaining show with actual real humor and could easily binge all episodes. Amazing appearances also, JBieber, Marshmallow, the show was really good.… Expand
