Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a mess, albeit a charming and admirable mess.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has the sort of kooky, off-kilter, off-the-wall energy of such true TV originals as Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone. The musical productions are wonderfully surreal, if slightly grotesque. But the songs themselves are merely adequate. And judging from the pilot alone--the only episode the CW made available--the characterizations are shallow and the humor far too broad. Bloom is impressive as the title character, Rebecca Bunch.

I dislike predictability in a strong way. I can't watch shows like Blindspot because it's the same episode every time in a new light. I loveI dislike predictability in a strong way. I can't watch shows like Blindspot because it's the same episode every time in a new light. I love how the plot changes in this show. A girl can wake up to a new day not expecting to run into terrorists on every single episode chasing them and hunting them down. It's a new day and it's not only refreshing and colorful but cheerful, funny, and chirpy like spring-time birds. I love this show. Full Review »

First off, while I wouldn't call it a musical...it totally has the potential to be a musical comedy series. I like that it isn't overloaded with production numbers...but, I wouldn't mind a couple more. With Smash a fond memory and Glee off of the table, I think with Bloom and Donna Lynn Champlin, alone, the show could have some killer, "Hollywood" style numbers...because they've proven off screen how they are vocal masters. I've seen Champlin on Broadway, in James Joyce's The Dead, and she was unreal. I saw that the show had a weak rating for the pilot. That's a shame...but it seems people are getting into it, as most sites are showing it with a fairly positive rating/reaction. My fingers are crossed!! Full Review »
