Complications is a good title for this show. The main characters, and their lives, are quite complicated. USA offered the first two episodes last night, and made a third available online and on demand. They want you to get hooked into the story, which is understandable since it has a very fringe premise. How can you build a series around an increasingly complicated set of events? ThisComplications is a good title for this show. The main characters, and their lives, are quite complicated. How can you build a series around an increasingly complicated set of events? This feels more like something that would be good as a movie, or a mini-series. I was engrossed in the first two hours, but I don't see how it's sustainable in the long term. Expand

When a wannabe TV thriller doesn’t work, the show devolves into a morass of characters making repeated bad decisions, like “Groundhog Day” but without the intentional comedy.

Complications chooses antic over subtlety, banging around from one crazy plot development to another. O'Mara is a very likable actor and Szohr does her very best, but for reasons known only to himself, Nix eschews the black humor that made "Burn Notice" so brilliant, which is too bad.

Nix knows how to dig deeper holes for his folks, while he broadens their motivations, sometimes recognized only along the way. Nix isn't bad at keeping the plot pot percolating, either.
