    Best Season in my opinion.

Just when you fought Cobra Kai was becoming predictable, then you are hit with that spectacular finale!
I will agree that some scenes are a little over dramatic and a little cringy with the acting but overall it Is the best season.

Holy crap was that finale something else. I was upset that Johnny was brought to a low point at the end of Season 4, but here he's done justice. EVERYONE is done justice. Absolutely loved it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As preparation for Cobra Kai season 5, I watched Karate Kid part 3 for the first time. I must admit, back in the 80s, when these movies were coming out, me and my friends watched only the first movie, and totally enjoyed it. But year’s later, when Cobra Kai started off, they did a good job re-introducing some of the rather obscure, or should I say, less important characters like Chozen and Silver. I didn’t think Chozen’s role in Season 4 was anything special, but he really did a good job in the latest season. John Kreese and Terry Silver did a great job, too. I believe introducing the new characters and their stories spiced up the show. It got out of the teenage-school going kids’ drama and graduated to a show about adults, and for once, the Johnny Laurence VS Daniel La Russo feud took a comfortable back seat. I binge watched the entire season within a single day. It had a lot of action, and most of the characters saw some level of development. It was amusing to see Johnny in a responsible role, and Danny being the hot headed person. The final outing versus Silver had some of the best moments of the entire show. John Barnes, well, he wasn’t a very good addition, to be honest. His role in Karate Kid 3 was quite limited, too, and I felt he was added as an afterthought. His character didn’t add much to the show, unless he has some other roles to play in subsequent seasons. Seems Kumiko will have a larger role in Season 6. Speaking of season 6, I think the show has managed to squeeze the ‘Karate Kid’ lemon/orange to its fullest. If they do plan on making more seasons, they need to expand the story beyond Mr. Miyagi, John Kreese, Daniel and Johny Lawrence—they need new heroes, new rivalries, new enemies, and new challenges. It can be safely stated that the story arc with Kreese and Silver as villainous characters has ran its circle. It will be much boring to see these apparently destroyed sanseis making a grand comeback with their also apparently diminished dojo, Cobra Kai. I think Season V ended with a happy ending for all—there’s not much need for a season 6 at all. However, I would definitely see it if it does get made. Till then, I must say, apart from a few missed spots, I really enjoyed season 5 of cobra kai. Expand

A sympathetic family series around Karate, it's fun but series is getting more and more tiresome. The series is overall good but after season 6 it should end

Goofy AF. After-school-special'ly. Melodramatic. So-so martial artists. Weak fight choreography. Plot best summed up by a couple 4th wall breaking asides such as "what is it with this town and karate riots?"

And yet it's a GREAT SHOW.
Why? SOLID writing & RESPECT for the fans via respect for the source material. In other words *the exact opposite of Disney+, Lucasfilm, and Bored of the Rings on Amazon.*

    1. Instead of SKIMPING on the writer's room and "casting" writers for skin tone, sexual orientation or gender, they started with writers who love the material, know the material, know how to write a TV show, and have had more life experience than "college + 3 years in Hollywood."

    2. Instead of "let's get rid of all the OOOOKY white male patriarch oppressors & replace them with Mary Sues of color," they give the original characters their due, THEN move on to new characters. And since it's set in LA of course the cast is diverse. ORGANICALLY. Isn't it funny how Netflix doesn't feel the need to call Cobra Kai fans racist? Real Scooby Doo mystery there.

    3. Humor. Who knew William Zabka was such a great comic actor? Apparently no one till 7 years ago. Who knew the best comedy comes from character? Every great sitcom writer. NO writers at Di$nee.

"D Plus" and Bored of the Rings look great but are (near) universally awful to watch. Cobra Kai looks cheap, but every season is worth your while. It's all about the writers and respecting the fans by respecting the source material.

After watching all five seasons, I feel like I'm finally ready to review it.

Long story short: It's good, it does the source material justice, and I highly recommend you watch it. It does get a bit cheesy at times (that's part of the fun) and there are a few episodes where I think to myself 'who told them to do the camera work like this? yikes!' but overall it's great. After

After season 5 though I really think it needs to end soon. Much like Stargate SG-1 after the Goa'uld were gone and Atlantis after the Wraith, at a certain point it's better to wrap things up on a high note than keep going until people get sick of it.

In a world full of awful reboots and dramatizations of books that no one wanted or asked for, this show stands out as a shining gem amongst the countless piles of literal dog s***.

It's rare I get so hyped for a show that I scream for one of the characters to triumph *cough* SAM/HAWK!. Well written and acted if you can get past the occasional cheese.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The escalation and absurdism was just too much. I swear I feel that contemplating this series any more will just result in a mental breakdown

With Silver continuing to expand Daniel, Chozen and Johnny must find a way to fight back.

Cobra Kai has become increasingly outlandish with each season (the violence would surely have landed half the characters in jail by now!), but the it remains an entertaining watch.

Still entertaining 5 seasons later, but wearing out its welcome a bit. There's a noticeable mix of really good and really weak episodes.

Season 4 was not good and they made Johnny Lawrence look bad. Very pleased to see they turned the show around. What an excellent season!

When Cobra Kai really clicks is when the nostalgia factor is balanced by the interactions of the current group of kids. That balance is certainly out of whack in the first two episodes, but it’s something we hope gets restored later in the season.

Crossing the streams with its sequels, the fifth season of "Cobra Kai" features heavy dollops of the second and third "The Karate Kid" movies while continue to carve out its own next-generation melodrama, all in extraordinarily nimble fashion. While it's not the best series on TV (OK, Netflix), there should be some kind of prize for the best revival culled from limited source material.

You have to embrace the cheese in “Cobra Kai” because that’s half the fun. And to be clear, the show is enormous fun.
