    I've watched seasons 1 and 2. I loved season 1, it's Johnny-centric, it's funny and nostalgic.

Season 3... What was that? The full on teenage drama was dialed up to 11, almost every teenage character turned into a crybaby or completely evil, some episodes are bad copies of episodes of previous seasons, the overarching story feels like a car trying to accelerate while the handbrake is on. It was good while it lasted, had fun with season 1 and half of 2, guess the shine wore off.

I'ts pretty much another amazing season. You may get a feeling of discomfort at first because they scaled up everything (including the violence), and it may feel too exaggerated and drifted from that seasons 1 and 2's captivating simplicity at first. A consequence of that is that sometimes characters may seem to come and go too fast and not feel impactful at all. But that's as far as criticism gets, considering the change from Youtube to Netflix as producer, things could've gone terrible on this season, it could've easily lost its core identity, but instead it just evolves, and brings a ton of cool stuff with it. I got goosebumps from multiple scenes as past and current events connected throughout the series, everything just made so much sense. It's a full plate if you liked the previous seasons, it would be a shame if it didn't gather enough support to go on, which is why i decided to create an account just for posting this, I honestly believe it deserves a 9. Season 1 was refreshing, shifting the focus away from Dianel-san and quite well written (eschewing most nostalgic clichés), season 2 had some good moments but season 3 is really milking our last drops of nostalgia. Cobra Kai continues to be all kinds of awesome in it's third season. The action continues to be on point, as well as the comedy, and the show has never hit on it's themes of legacy better than it has now.

These characters continue to be fleshed out and have so much depth. I like that they expanded on John Krease and I hope to continue learning about who he is. After the mass brawl at their school everyone has to deal with the fallout, including Johnny Lawrence and LaRusso who many blame for what happened.

Cobra Kai’s third season retains the fun sense of humour and over the top excesses that made it such an entertaining watch thus far, and it sets things up perfectly for what should be an excellent fourth year.

This season improves on the previous two by having a heavier focus on Kreese and how he crosses a line that Johnny wont cross. Also many of the scenes with Miguel can be heavy and emotional.

Winning formula all around. Opposing viewpoints, dealing with conflict and not rubbing a bunch of "progressive" trash in our face. Just honest to goodness PEOPLE and their lives. Wow, this season just brought most of what I wanted to see after 2. It is simply amazing. I will say I don’t have too much nostalgia for the old Karate Kid films. I was skeptical but the writers did it again, I can't even imagine where they keep on finding those good ideas. Everything is well written, dialogues, story progression, character and world building. It's fun, engaging and each episode ending makes you want to fire up the next one. The easter eggs, often verbal, never feel forced or out of place and the same goes for the comedy. Definitely better than season 2, but that's not much of a compliment as it was terrible.

How to sum up this one then...? With Kreese now one of the central characters it's fairly easy to see what is going to happen by the end of the tenth episode, but in order to flesh him out he's given a 'told through flashback' history of his own. This really doesn't add anything though, as

How to sum up this one then...?

With Kreese now one of the central characters it's fairly easy to see what is going to happen by the end of the tenth episode, but in order to flesh him out he's given a 'told through flashback' history of his own. This really doesn't add anything though, as ultimately his own motivations don't matter, all the audience need to understand is that he is not putting his students interests first. He's just trying to claim back his own dignity after his failure as a Sensei in the past.

The on-off love quartet of Miguel, Sam, Tory and Robbie still plods along in the background and is used to justify some really stupid decisions all of them make, decisions that no one in real life would choose.

But, we get a lot more Johnny and Daniel in this series, which is what all us 'oldies' want to see.
Johnny starts off living in a drunken stupor, and this time it's Miguel who 'saves' him after working through his rehabilitation.
Daniel also matures, realising that he is now regarded by his daughter and students as their own Mr Miyagi. This is spelt out to him when he takes a trip to Okinawa, and learns some truths he wasn't told about both Mr. Miyagi, and Miyagi-do Karate.

Everything comes to a head, leaving us with the series' cliffhanger. This ending though does suggest the fourth series will be the last. Which might not be a bad thing.

Throw in some nostalgia inducing cameos (or perhaps an introduction for one of them as a new recurring character) and I think Netflix has moved the show in the right direction.

It's not brilliant, far from it, but that first Season was never going to be topped in terms of bringing the franchise to a new (and old) audience.

The bottom line though is that I am really looking forward to the next (final?) season.....

The return of Ali Schwarber is just the pinnacle of terrible and cheesy. Stopped after she appeared because to me she ruined the dynamic between the Larussos, Keene and Diaz. Also Larusso being jealous over Ali? Really who is going to buy that? His jealousy feels (rightfully) forced as his wife is way out of her league, making it a cringefest. This show doesn't need this much drama on top there were so many laws broken that you just wonder how has no one called the cops yet. What started out as a fun show turned into some form of MTV CHEESE DRAMA and that's not what Karate Kid nor Cobra Kai was known for. The drama used to be a side gig for Seasons 1 and 2 focusing on fun and at least some form of realism. Now it feels like it's just drama left and right and it's quite stressful and annoying to watch unfold. It feels like a beginner or a child wrote the script of this season. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've been a fan of Cobra Kai since its release. While I know many enjoy the nostalgic aspects of the show, its the journey of the characters that I've enjoyed the most. This particularly applies to Johnny (William Zabra). His performance has been one of the bright aspects of Cobra Kai, as he deals with the choices of his past and the rivalry that he feels has defined him. His chemistry with Ralph Macchio (Daniel) and Xolo Mariduena is excellent. With Season 3 focused on their journey and John Kreese (Martin Kove) background, the showrunners provide you with a compelling story. Episode 10 (December 19) is the culmination of the terrific job by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossburg, and Bob Dearden in building their story to a captivating conclusion. The quality of that episode and how well it was edited (Zack Arnold) is, in my opinion, worthy of Emmy consideration. Expand

Enter season 3, which kicks up the nostalgia factor into an even higher gear while remaining every bit as soapy, playful and disarmingly funny. "The Karate Kid" might be 36 years old, but this series offers a battle plan for other revivals to study.
