Another brilliant season from a brilliant show. Deserves a 10 rating for episode Once More With Feeling alone. Somewhat darker than the other seasons it remains consistent.

The season starts with the gang trying to come to terms with and possibly resurrect Buffy, who of course sacrificed herself at the end of season five, before dealing with subjects like an attempted rape, the murder of a much loved character, child welfare looking to take away Dawn and a bride being left at the altar. To be fair most of it was handled pretty well, and it made for an interesting watch, but I did often find myself wishing for the old Buffy and some sort of rest bite from all the misery.

I’ll just add a special mention for the musical episode “Once More with Feeling” which is just a superb 45 minutes of television. Musical episodes can often fall flat but not only was the episode entertaining in its own right (the songs are great) it also played a significant part in developing the seasons story arc.

A bit of a step back from where the last season left off. Buffy has changed, and so has the whole tone of the show. Now this change is actually welcome as it does breath some fresh air into the series, just a shame that about halfway through the season Buffy more or less becomes her old self, perhaps a little broodier. Alyson Hannigan is just fantastic and this season really shows you her range as an actress. While the plot twist is kind of obvious the moral that is being delivered feel too much like an after school special at time. Warren, Jonathan & Andrew are just hilarious and do great job as playing noob villains. Overall: Season six is really all over the place and takes a bit too long to find its pace. It has some really great stand alone episodes and the musical episode was really fun to watch and it worked really well. But the core story arch is were it falters as it flips a bit too suddenly based on the evens of the season. A good season overall, but not the best. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This season was a surprise. On the surface, the villains being the Trio seems weak and misplaced at this point in the series, but strong performances from said actors meant the series still felt like Buffy and co. were in jeopardy with each turn. Can't credit Tom Lenk enough - hilarious. Expand

A much darker season due to it dealing with the aftermath of the previous one. There are very few light hearted episodes, the characters go through hell and the comic relief that there is is provided by the villains the Trio, which divides opinion a bit. Overall, I thought that this was a strong season but it took a while to really get going. There is no real obvious arc until the last five episodes or so. However, those last few episodes are worth the wait. ''Once More, with Feeling'', the famous musical episode and ''Normal Again'', where a demon tries to convince Buffy that she has imagined her life in Sunnydale also stand out. Expand

A series with as much emotional punch as The Sopranos.
