shattered. It's really hard to be funny for 8 seasons, but up until this season B99 was doing well. So far, the season is very weird and now your favourite TV show is filled this politics, as if we hadnt had enough of it. Really unfortunate way to bow out.

As a black person who use to love this show I found this new season to be condescending and filled of black stereotypes. I use to really love all the characters on the show but they really changed them for this new season. The Politics of this season are heavy handed to point of screaming them at you.

Very unfortunate to see a once amazing show lose its way due to outside pressures. The show had previously grappled with policing issues in a much more tasteful way. This season felt like a preach session with a basic message that overwhelmed the little comedy that was left. Compared to other shows, this season definitely holds up. Woke politics infects and ruins yet another great show. Does anyone actually like all the lectures from the scummy spoiled bigots in Hollywood?

What was an unrealistically goofy and silly cop show was apparently perceived as a copaganda, so what did the creators do ?

They decided to forgo and comedy in this comedy show and go full on preachy and heavy handed about how police are evil and all of the worlds problems can be solved if we just got rid of them. They continuously keep trying to shove this message down the viewers

What was once a whimsical comedy about a bunch of very unrealistic cops has somehow turned into a preachy, angry and ultimately unfunny show where the writers clearly have an ax to grind (too much parking tickets?) and desperately try to hitch a ride on the "defund the police" bandwagon. If you hate cops so much, why keep on making this show?

And no, I'm not a cop. Just a guy who

Probably the worst season of TV I've ever watched. It used to be a funny show that dealt with difficult issues with policing/society in a tasteful way that allowed people to view things from another perspective. This season does not do that. It does it in a lazy in your face way that makes the show to serious and far to unfunny. Should have ended with season 7

None of the five episodes provided for review contain any reasons for fans to turn it off, I'm happy to report. Indeed, the show incorporates our changed view of policing into a season-long arc involving McGinley while still finding time for farcical misadventures. ... It's about the people, and at the end of the day they still make the case that we can find comfort in hanging out with them for little while longer.

Some of the season’s episodes largely ignore the cultural context altogether. Each is compelling on its own, but there’s no overall sense of direction. ... Brooklyn Nine-Nine does the best job possible of acknowledging the problem with portraying cops as uncomplicated heroes while still remaining a good-natured, funny show, but it feels fitting, and fortunate, that this is its final season.

It’s admittedly a bit much to ask Mike Schur and a bunch of comedians to try to dismantle the entire policing system brick by brick, especially over a single season of television. But the dissonance is still there, and not even our boys and girls in blue can ignore it any longer. They’re being thoughtful about it, but the jury’s still out as to whether that’s enough, or just (forgive me) a cop-out.
