It’s engaging in a more serialized storytelling mode, the world itself, and time’s continual march forward. But these creators aren’t letting Trump’s patriarchy dictate their decisions. These scary forces don’t control Season 4; Glazer and Jacobson do, and they’ve never been more powerful.
-
Though season four sees it treading into heavy waters, Broad City does so without shoving a woke badge in our faces.

The show has kept its essential core, and built increasingly interesting stories and structures around it--and what it really means to be a New Yorker.

The Broad City duo does not suddenly discover responsibility and sobriety. What instead happens is that the world inflicts some pain upon them, and the show guffaws at their gonzo squirming.
-
There is both a unity and a contrast between their two comic personas that is sharp here.
