It understands that its first job is to make us believe in Bonnie and Clyde and commit to their story. And that it does, perhaps not brilliantly, but well.
-
This elongated version makes its own mark, although certainly not an indelible one.
-
This Bonnie & Clyde, taken on its own terms, is a perfectly entertaining gangster picture, not to mention an interesting experiment in its simultaneous propagation and subversion of feminist doctrine.
-
Both Hirsch and Grainger do a creditable job of getting into the skin of their complicated characters.... The supporting cast is filled with familiar faces doing competent work with a short amount of screen time and a sometimes programmatic script.
-
Bonnie & Clyde really is just another biopic with superior production values, a few good performances and a pair of protagonists who deserve no sympathy, and receive none here.
-
It's mildly entertaining, but Outlaw TV it ain't.
-
There are some artsy shots underscoring Clyde’s premonitions and Bonnie’s obsession with a music-box ballerina, but they’re throwaways at best and lend absolutely nothing to the saga.... The performances here are fine.
-
Bonnie’s panic attacks and Clyde’s crystal-ball premonitions add hokeyness to an otherwise decent drama, whose biggest crime is being stretched over two nights instead of one.
