Three of Britain's finest wheelchair curlers joined the Blue Peter presenters on the Ice Rink and gave them a demonstration of the art of curling. Liz tried her hand at throwing a stone but only managed to succeed in helping out the other team!Plus:
Climbing An Ice Wall
Simon's challenge is to finish a World Championship ice climb after only day's training. Simon gets some tips from a climbing champion: "You'll be wearing crampons (strap-on spikes) on your feet, and holding ice picks in each hand." Part of the climb will involve crossing over to another wall. "Make sure you dig the crampons into the ice to help take the weight off your arms," says the champion. But Simon can't keep hold with his ice picks and tumbles to the ground. Simon hears he's got to make the crossing much higher up. "I was enjoying the day until this point!", he says. "It's a long way to the top!"
Simon embarks on the championship climb. Simon feels the pain as he nears the top. "My forearms are killing me!" "Come on, Thomas, this is it!" Simon completes his challenge, and cries out in relief. He'll be feeling the pain in his arms tomorrow!… Expand
