Nov 17, 2017Bitter sens of humour makes this show hard to be "laughable" enough for a lot of people. And that is true. I can easily understand every single negative review that i read. But this show makes me relaxed and in the same time forced me to start thinking about my life, friends, parents and kids. Every episode ask me at least one though question per episode.

Nov 23, 2017Don't think of it as a comedy, it ruins your experience. It's a bitter and relaxing story of life. Pamela Adlon is brilliant in portraying a complex woman facing life, family and work. It's a wonderful experience of watching it at the end of your day.

Nov 22, 2017This is simply beautiful television, Ive never viewed it as comedy more as tragedy. The mother is such a complex and interesting women, and her complex and sometimes sad relationships with her family are glaringly real, and touching. The very last scene was fantastic.

Nov 24, 2017This is a better thing than it was. I like it. The plot is nice. Those characters what can I say? I want to sit my ass down and watch all day. Are there more to watch?

Dec 18, 2021Powerfully mundane and challenging. Nothing is forced, relationships feel natural and the cast is astonishing. Sometimes it is frustrating but it never isn't intentional.

It’s mostly about getting through the day, about getting through the week, about getting through life. It’s angry but never bitter. Joyful but never saccharine. It feels a little like magic.
-
Its ability to take a more wrenching look at womanhood made it one of the best and most distinctive shows of 2016. The second season, which debuts on FX Thursday, is somehow even better.

Better Things gets better--truer and deeper--when Sam is taken by surprise (as when her ex-husband shows up unexpectedly for dinner, or when a pet dies) or when she’s jolted out of her self-absorption by a parental obligation that yields a small revelation for her. Adlon is very good at depicting Sam in mid-mixed-emotions.
