Ryan Wilder is an imperfect inspiration for women and she is very relatable. The action is good and so is the CGI.

Though I believe this season of Batwoman suffered due to the absence of Ruby Rose and Kate Kane and the connection and chemistry between Kate and Alice I do believe that the performances from Rachel Skarsten and Javicia Leslie, the new, twisted, and unique chemistry between Alice and Ryan, and Alice's character development and storyline made up for it somewhat. The performances from Nicole Kang and Camrus Johnson were also great. The makeup, hairstyling, and costumes were superb. I have high hopes for what next season will hold. Expand

It remains unclear how the new protagonist will impact the show's overall momentum, as these opening chapters work to transition viewers to a new narrative schema. So far, Leslie's character provides some classic "fish out of water" levity to an otherwise self-serious superhero melodrama. That novice energy comes at some cost, however, to the series' established emotional dimensions.

After a first season that never quite got off the ground creatively, "Batwoman" announced that original star Ruby Rose would be leaving but that the series would hang around without her. The contortions necessary to arrange that baton (or Batarang) pass mostly fizzle in the opening episodes, fueling a sense that this CW drama might be flying on fumes.

The result is messy, as was maybe inevitable — but it’s also not particularly satisfying, which was much more avoidable.
