Summary: Richard helps a homeowner replace a broken cast-iron closet flange for a toilet. He installs a replacement cast-iron closet flange that uses a compression connection. In the Ask This Old House loft, Tom, Richard, Roger and Kevin examine an unfamiliar object and try to guess how it is used. Afterward, Tom and a homeowner repair a crackedRichard helps a homeowner replace a broken cast-iron closet flange for a toilet. In the Ask This Old House loft, Tom, Richard, Roger and Kevin examine an unfamiliar object and try to guess how it is used. Afterward, Tom and a homeowner repair a cracked plaster wall using a new type of adhesive system. Back in the loft, Roger shares a tip sent in by viewer on digging holes, which described an easy way to measure the depth of a hole while using a clam-shell type post-hole digger by marking the length of the handle of the digger to measure the depth of the hole easily.
