The history of television is littered with unsuccessful attempts to bring back popular shows or movies but fortunately Ash Vs. Evil Dead largely delivers on fan expectations. The B Movie plot, one-liners, cartoonish levels of violence and, most importantly, Bruce Campbell are all back meaning this really is The Evil Dead on the small screen (And you can't really ask for more than that!).

I watch about 20 different television shows, including the big boys Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Daredevil, Sherlock, Stranger things, etc. and Ash vs Evil Dead is still my favorite show. It's just so creative and fun, and in the end that's what makes me happy when I'm seeking entertainment.

OMG! Yes! This show is hilarious and is a great call back to the horror of the 80s. I can't tell you enough how sometimes ridiculous the demons and killings are in this series. I mean of course use caution if you are offended by language and blood but if you don't care and love classic horror, then check this series out. Ash is back and old but is still a hand chainsawing bada**!

The first season introduces new characters when you expect ash to fight alone, which is a bit bothering because you don't care about them (at first), the inevitable love story takes time to die and you may roll your eyes at the dynamic of an old fashioned white guy vs latino + woman (that gets better with time).
But the show is great nonetheless, it takes all of the lovable badass idiot

But the show is great nonetheless, it takes all of the lovable badass idiot that is ashley williams, the laughable and creepy deadites, gore delivered by the gallon and a trip back to the roots of evil dead 2.
You will not find any reference to army of darkness because it's owned by someone else (ash never mentions he went in the past, don't expect it).
Don't expect anything astonishing, just a good time with good ol' practical effects.

This was made for fans of the first two evil dead movies and army of darkness, but if you have never seen any of those don't fret as there is still a lot to enjoy. If you are partial to lots of blood, a little bit of slapstick comedy and great one liners, then this is the show for you.

Ash vs Evil Dead is a true marvel of modern television and is the best out of the Evil Dead Franchise. Bruce Campbell and co. are all on the top and their game and any Evil Dead fan needs to watch this series now if they haven't already. 10/10 would kill demons again.

It's awesome that Campbell is back as Ash but the nostalgia factor fades quickly. It's literally half the episode is a story progress while the second half is a long fight scene. It gets old pretty quickly and fails to really keep your attention. Ash Vs. Evil Dead isn't a bad show but it can be so much better.

It's really great... The most faithful Classic of all time. The terror of the summit, which came with everything, including the true protagonist, and bringing back a movie legend. A good script, good layout, some trash effects as usual, image and very cool environment, a good resolution , and in short a soundtrack as good as! Fans of Evil Dead... of course Classic , but this was a good job.

Very mediocre, 3 out of 10 episodes were really worth the time to watch. Raimi would be smart to take this show over and bring his magic back to the franchise.

Bruce Campbell is wreaking havoc with his boomstick, chainsaw and over inflated ego in a bundle of hilarity that is only polished off with over the top gore that the show doesn’t hold back on (the show even kills kids!)
The casting choices were a bit dodgy but Campbell is (obviously) golden, and not feeling like a tired old Indy (sorry Harrison), Ray Santiago (or Pablo) is rather enjoyable, works well with the cast but at times can be a bit too over the top screamy, Dana DeLorenzo (or Kelly) is at first just too obnoxious to really be likeable, but she does grow on you despite her sometimes trying too hard to be a ‘badass’, Lucy Lawless (Xena I mean…. Ruby) plays an interesting character who sadly becomes a bit ambivalent towards what you think as her story is never fully followed until more towards the end. Lastly, the one cast member that I actually couldn’t stand; Jill Maria Jones (or Amanda Fisher). Her character was just blindly stupid at most times and quite un-relatable not only due to how quickly her character changes dynamic at times but how the majority of her acting range is squinting her eyes and bobbing her head around like a crazed chicken. She is also one of the only protagonists that you never get a joke from (unlike the others) so you never feel like you can share any empathy for her. Despite Jones lack lustre performance it doesn’t take away from this brilliant show that never tries to take itself too seriously.
Overall, with some tasty direction and cinematography, nice little mentions back to the original films and plenty of Campbell to go around, Ash Vs Evil Dead is worth the watch.
Also, it sets up very nicely for a second season, basically indicating how season 2 will be a hell of a lot different. This show is now in my top 5 most anticipated for 2016!

Camp is in it's nature and it's all the better for it. The new characters joining Ash on his quest to end all evil are just a likable as the man himself. The plot is really shaping up to be something interesting. We are beginning to get deeper looks into the origin of the Necronomicon. Watching Ash struggle with his past is also surprisingly intelligent. It gives more depth to the goofball character.

Yes, Evil Dead fans are in for a huge treat with this series. It captures everything that is so great about the Raimi movies, particularly the later ones, and brings them to the TV. However longtime fans who have been hungry for more aren't the only ones who can enjoy this show. Those looking for a bloody hilarious horror-comedy are sure to find a lot to love here. It's got enough gore and jokes to ensure that this is one satisfying show and a glorious return for the series. "Hail to the king, baby!"

This series is nothing like Evil Dead 1 or 2, and barely has any
semblance to Army of Darkness. The acting, casting choices, and lines

The typical fanboy's response to such criticism is basically to say that
all of the above *somehow* makes this show great. Ludicrous! And do you
know why I know they're full of it? Because if this show had been done
better, it would appeal to more than the fanboys; this show would be
talked about and lauded as much as Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, etc.
And, and.. it could have still been "campy". The writers just weren't
good enough to pull it off; or, perhaps they they just didn't have to,
given their target audience's inability to discern the difference.

    In short: Surprisingly well done.

I did not expect this to turn out as well as it did. This production has what most productions lack: Heart and consistency. Even considering what the story is about, the characters are convincing and the interactions are plausible. It is fun to watch and true to it's roots, no doubt thanks to the personal involvements of those who originally planted it.
