Well, you can't expect too much from a show made in 2015 even if it is somehow connected to your most beloved horror film franchise. The way the Deadites are brought back seems a bit dumb since it could have easily continued directly from where Army of Darkness left off, but instead they deliver crude silliness more in the brand of 'My Name Is Bruce' rather than vintage Evil Dead. The episode still had its moments, Bruce is still great, there is plenty of fan service jammed in there, but somehow the whole things seems to hit left of center...it will be interesting to see what the next ep will bring to the table Expand

It's awesome that Campbell is back as Ash but the nostalgia factor fades quickly. It's literally half the episode is a story progress while the second half is a long fight scene. It gets old pretty quickly and fails to really keep your attention. Ash Vs. Evil Dead isn't a bad show but it can be so much better.

This is full-throttle, blood-soaked television, and even when it's not hitting every mark, it's still a great time.

Raimi shows he hasn’t lost his horror chops in directing the first episode, particularly with a spinning flashlight tension-builder. And the bloody roots of “Evil Dead” are fully honored as well.

The show is mostly useful as a vengeful reverse prank on greedy legions of trick-or-treaters. Make sure your tube is prominently visible as you open the door to the kids, and give them a compulsive need for years of therapy along with their Butterfingers.
