Should have gone with the Palmer technology guy and let Oliver find his own way and someone that did not hero worship him but really love him. Age difference between these two actors shows up in creating a love story. Besides, Stephen Amell has a really good looking real-life wife and baby. Why make him do love scenes with a young actress. At the very least, let Felicity stop sniveling and crying at every point of danger for Oliver. Give her some maturity! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This already mediocre show just gets worse. The acting is wooden and the plot and characterization is nonsensical (Characters seem to do complete 180s ie. Captain Lance and Ra's Al Ghul). There are one or two good episodes but the rest of the season is a steaming hot mess of teen drama and soap opera level "twists" (Oliver just happens to bump into Shado's identical twin!! seriously?) . The Hong Kong story-line was a chore to sit through this time around and this portrayal of Ra's Al Ghul and Black Canary is insulting to comic fans. This isn't even Green Arrow!! I stuck with the show because I foolishly believed that Oliver's character would develop but he continues to be the poor man's batman. Felicity and The Atom's story-line is particularly weak. Oh and whatever happened to Wildcat? I would've given this a zero but surprisingly I somewhat enjoyed Thea and Merlyn's story-line and was impressed by Willa Holland and John Barrowman's acting abilities despite the atrocious lines they are forced to recite. Arrow turns towards the supernatural in the weaker but still decent Season 3. While Stephen Amell is still great as the Arrow, the letdown is Ra's Al Ghul storyline.

"Arrow" is one of my favorite TV shows, and the first one I started regularly following. I've never missed an episode. I've watched all 69 episodes. I've never missed an episode. I've watched all 69 episodes. Season 1 started out as kind of combination of Nolan's Batman-ish trilogy and Raimi's Spider-Man style, with a vigilante protecting the city with the help of his allies, though what thankfully differences from that is that the hero is using a bow and arrow. The first half of the season was very uneven at best, but not on the same aimless level of Season 3's first half. After the 10th episode, the show took an acceptably new direction, being less of a rip-off, and more like its own super-hero drama in its own right way, which led us to a fantastic, spectacularly tense season finale. As I was hungry for more, I started watching Season 2, and I couldn't have made a better option than that, as the sophomore Season continued the process of Oliver's anguish of trying to be "something else", while elevating the stakes for the season, and becoming bigger and bolder than its predecessor. It was the step in the right direction, and ultimately it made for a very satisfying year (for those who watched when it aired). Season 3 tried to move forward from the Slade Wilson/Oliver Queen conflict and tried to create a subplot that addressed Oliver's struggle with his identity, but the end result was more of a thud than a bang. The season started great with "The Calm", an episode that continued Oliver's crusade with new, fresh faces, and a reasonable emotional focus, this being Oliver trying to balance his work life with his friendly relationship with Felicity Smoak. And with the episode ending on a shocking twist (Sara's death), this Season was off to a promising start. Unfortunately, that's where the inspiration went away. Followed by an overwhelmingly dark episode, "Sara" brought up a new archer in town, suspected to be Sara's killer, but after was revealed it wasn't, the entire episode felt pointless, although quite entertaining.

The 3rd episode didn't have a villain, but rather a guy who betrayed his own friend. The 4th episode didn't also have a villain (please don't say Malcolm Meryln), the 5th episode had one but poorly conceived and lame. The 6th episode was the worst Arrow installment ever, and even the villain was laughably atrocious. I can take Ted Grant being a vigilante before Arrow's presence in Starling, but having a sidekick was a little too on the nose, especially when the episode connected the Grant's subplot with Roy's subplot (if the guy even had one). The 7th episode had a villain, but... it was an Arrow-obsessed killer, and an uninteresting one. The 8th episode picked up, but I can't say I cared much for the villain. The 9th episode had a worthy foe for Oliver to face, but the overall dramatic momentum was lacking. First half of the season, and there was no sense of villain overt or dramatic impulse driving this season forward. Even if they were enjoyable, which I agree, I can't stop feeling empty after watching it.

What Arrow did good this season, that mostly outweigh the cons was its action, solid performances and characters use (not looking at you Roy). The action and the CGI is one thing that has been improved over the past three years of the show's history. With bigger budget and more opportunities, the creators have taken us to more dazzling set-pieces, and offered us more exciting action. The duel between Oliver and Ra's on the mountain especially stood out as the best action sequence in the season, if not in the whole show. The dialogue in that particular scene was surprisingly good, and I'm not much for praising dialogue in movies/TV Shows. Ra's explained how he "replaced evil with death", talking about his first murder, and why he did that. It was a powerful moment not just for the villain, but also for Oliver, as he was about to face the world's greatest asssassin. Tension was felt there. We knew Oliver was outmatched, mostly because he was vulnerable at that moment. And what's better to end the mid-season with your hero being tossed out of a cliff?

The performances from Amell, Matt Nable and John Barrowman were good, and this time around the writers took a great use of the characters. I enjoyed Laurel's arc, as she finally picked her mantle as the new Canary. Roy, on the other hand, was immensely underutilized, though the resolution to the character in the season was appealing, as he helped Oliver from getting arrested. The flashbacks were little of help this time. They were entertaining, but repetitive and they never made use of the Hong Kong scenarios to the fullest. There was also lack of momentum in there, like in the present situation.

The finale ended disappointingly, as there was no climax whatsoever, and the Damien Darhk little subplot was completely superfluous, other than to setup the next season's big baddie. Decent season but could've been better, if the main conflict was more compelling.

For those who've rated this show for its consistency is laughable.
Throughout the current series producers have proceed to chaotically change the character dynamics of (team arrow) to an unrecognisable level. Introducing a variety of new characters without cementing their roles.

The romance with Felicity and Oliver Queen was poorly executed, and seemingly contrived. I do not get the impression that either, by their acting or story that these two should in fact be together. It seems hastily implemented, and with Oliver's relationship history = Laurel/Sara/Shadow/McKenzie/Sara and now Felicity? Seems like he's less in love and more wanting a date.
As a character the personality of Felicity has changed dramatically she's become less of the mildly humorous idiosyncratic blond IT girl and now is an overly aggressive, confrontational CEO. It is becoming dislikeable how a supporting character should have such a presence of undermining Oliver Queen's character. Big fail!

Diggle as a voice of reason is becoming almost non-existent, not being significant in any way shape or form to the current series, now that Roy Harper, aka Robin has become effectively the arrow's generically unnecessary sidekick.

Laurel taking up the mantle of the Canary?! NO! I have to say it's becoming less like the 'ARROW' and more like a rag tag band of wannabe vigilantes without any qualifications dressing up in ridiculous costumes. (Kick-Ass) but less humorous. She might be taking a few boxing lesson's to substitute for her anger, stress and alcohol issues but it certainly doesn't mean that she should be incorporated into the show as a heroine. Her acting in the previous seasons was tolerable, but her apparent lack of emotion when they thought that Oliver was dead? It is disgraceful, she was dating Oliver at one point, and is her only friend, as we can see, and does not seem to affect her. You might think with all the death of friends and family she has become desensitised to his death. But, for someone who has been a big part of her life, to die and yet show no emotion anger, denial sadness? The same can be said of all other supporting characters. Felicities rendition of a lover lost is far too exaggerated and feels unnatural. But comes to terms with it resoundingly fast.

    Please rethink watching The Arrow!

I gave Arrow a 10, not because it's perfect, but because it’s probably as close to a 10 as a show can get. It certainly has its flaws--however, only a few episodes into Season 3 and I can already tell that the show is pretty much the TV show equivalent of Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.

I usually don’t review TV shows so early, because I feel that rating a show based on the pilot isn’t really fair. I need multiple episodes to determine how good a TV show is (to me). However, I made an exception with Arrow because it’s pretty clear that Arrow is almost always the same: at its best. I don’t want to sound like some fanboy raining praise on a superhero TV show, but this show simply deserves it. The storytelling is strong each episode. The two parallel stories that go on at the same time (past and present) during the episodes are both well-made and intertwine well. The characters are nice and developed on the show (not one dimensional or cliché). The acting is good. The dynamic of “Team Arrow” is nice. Felicity, Diggle, Roy, Oliver, Ray Palmer, etc. are all good characters.

Arrow does have its flaws though. For example, how is it practical at all for Oliver to be constantly facing off against enemies with guns, swords, etc. with just a bow and arrow? Sure, it might work at a distance, but it makes a lot less sense when he and his enemies are face to face. Oliver should have some kind of knife or bo staff with him when he faces certain enemies in close quarters. Also, some scenes where Oliver avoids gunfire causes a bit too much suspension of disbelief. (See season 3 episode “The Secret of Felicity Smoak”, for an example of this. When Felicity and her mom are kidnapped, and machines are shooting bullets at Oliver, none of them come even close to hitting him. Really?) Also, Thea (“Speedy”) and Laurel (Dinah) are IMO the weakest characters on the show.

The good definitely outweighs the bad though, when it comes to Arrow. I honestly think it’s one of the best TV shows I’ve seen, and is probably the best superhero TV show. (Sorry Agents of SHIELD, Constantine, The Flash, and Gotham.)

I have reviewed 32 other movies, including the 2014 films: Dracula Untold, The Maze Runner, The Expendables 3, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Giver, Sharknado 2, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Edge of Tomorrow, X-Men Days of Future Past, Godzilla, Blended, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Divergent, Transcendence, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, The Lego Movie, and more. I also review TV shows, such as Gotham, The Last Ship, Sleepy Hollow, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, The 100, I Wanna Marry Harry, Crisis, Gang Related, and more. I also have reviewed the mobile game Minecraft Pocket Edition.

    Goodbye! Sincerely, AG732.

This series is totally unwatchable, stinking, containing more holes then a bucket. Not even team aerosol can mask that raspberry flavor.

Take the last episode, but this entire season and any other seasons have been drivel from start. Penicillin tea cures death, mending broken bones, filling gaping holes, wince more. Brick the Bane equivalent stops bullets with head, arrows don't cause scratches, only to get kicked in the nuts. He kills everybody else but not would be killers, because of equality. All so *** kicked can join the justice league when using somebody else identity Dinah is now a Lance, please scream more. Daddy daddy please stay and fight the bad men because you taught how to fight and not be scared, okay darling were not scared now. Everyone else can get Merlin'ed too including team aerosol, they don't care about the **** caused. Meanwhile Smoke is blowing on onion rings every episode, when she isn't blowing bubbles, lets also get her mom involved as well.

Any would be action scenes come straight out of a B movie, bullets do not do **** all, because cartwheels are a matrix art in those 5 seconds of action. Because a bow fires quicker, also more directly then any ricochet . But the other 45 minutes of discourse are a soap opera, pantomime into how everyone, apart from the one-shot Crim, can also join team aerosol. If they can get over their amnesia remembering why they aren't dead, any superpowers came straight out of lost. Obviously making them all emotional that they then have to provide less and less content, outside of their family dilemmas, but constantly further away from the sourced material.

Nothing can mask how bad this show stinks. Do us all a favor. Stop making superhero series, when they watch as badly as asskicked 2. .

Roy is shaping up nicely and his handle on the character that is Roy Harper is quite good. The first season was a great debut season despite its shaky start. However, the second season is when Arrow is at its best with its epic storytelling, great emotional character development and well-executed plot arcs.

(You can read my review of the first season of The Flash here)

The third season has a great first half and it has great ideas on what to do with this season. However, most of them felt poorly executed and the second half of the season has a noticeable drop in quality which is why this season of Arrow is quite disappointing to me.

I still love Felicity however I am very angry at how she was handled this season as the annoying love interest. I don’t mind Felicity stepping out from the comic relief we know and love to a more compelling, emotional character however her being emotional over a romance with Oliver which was shoehorned for the Olicity shippers is what ruined Felicity. I am still praying for the redemption of Felicity.

Speaking of redemption, Laurel and Thea has an interesting and exciting character development as the show gave them more opportunities to be bad-ass. Seeing my favorite character Thea having much to do this season was a celebration to me and seeing her screwed up relationship with his biological father Malcolm Merlyn is intriguing. As for Laurel, I am happy that while she is the Black Canary now, she still has work to do with her being a superhero and that felt natural and realistic.

Another thing I liked about this season was the way the show handled Nyssa. Her dealing with Sarah’s death to her dealing with her father’s **** was really interesting and made me sympathize with her.

As what I said before, this season has a lot of great ideas to tackle in. Like the Nanda Parbat and Ras Al-Khul as the main villian could make this season even more kick-ass than the previous. But this season was poorly executed with its lazy writing and it was overshadowed by the shoehorned romance between Felicity and Oliver.

The flashback scenes from the first two seasons were important plot devices as they were related to the season arcs that time. However, this season’s flashback scenes were not interesting and important to the season and it was more used to introduce the new characters Tatsu and Maseo. I do love those characters but the flashback scenes were shoehorned and not crucial to this season’s arc.

I am hoping for some improvement for the next season of Arrow and I am optimistic that the writers and producers would listen to the criticism they’re getting from this season and try to improve the show with the next season. I am not giving up this show just yet.

This season has divided people believe or not that's usually an intriguing thing it means there is a lot to discuss Season 3 of arrow is incredible i can't name a season of anything I've liked better this is by far the most emotional and character driven season Oliver, Laurel, Felicity, Thea, Lance, Malcom and Roy all have great character arcs we also get more character development from Diggle as well as new comer Ray. These arcs delve deep into the characters showing us sides we've never seen before for better or worse. The action in the season is spectacular and massive in scope make no mistake this is shows largest and most ambition season you alone will have to determine if that is a good thing. Ra's al ghul is the main villain this time around Matt Nable delivers an incredible performance and brings a very different conflict than Slade did forcing Oliver to question his very identity and soul he is every bit as dangerous and without giving away spoilers changes the show forever. The flashbacks are weaker but there is a story behind them and Olivers evolution in particular during them is great to watch. Stephen Amell above all else owns this season delivering his deepest and best performance yet this holds true for most of the other cast the story is not what you would expect and is far more shocking and unpredictable than season 2 and it will do things you don't agree with but all for the purpose of the story being told. The final verdict Arrow season 3 is a truly epic, action packed, emotional and unforgettable season that truly changes the show and it's characters in ways we could never imagine. I really loved the crossover also; Flash vs. Arrow. But overall, the season is fun but can't live up to the first two seasons Expand

I don't know why everyone hated this season. Sure, season 2 was better but this seasom still did a very good job. The only problem i had was how easily oliver beat ra's.

The beginning of the end as Felicity starts to take over the show, so much so The Demons Head - Ras Al Ghul gives her relationship advice.... weak plot ending with weak action

Everyone normally says that Season 4 was the worst season, but in my opinion that title goes to Season 3. Laura Lance had started to become the most annoying character in the franchise. She simply doesn't understand she isn't strong enough to fight criminals in spite of failing repeatedly. And she trains with Wildcat to become one. She's so cute, and yet she does boxing while wearing black (which Ted had asked whether she will take red or black and she said "obviously" black, like why?) and she doesn't even show her navel or legs. What's the point of a beautiful woman boxing if she doesn't even look hot? And of course Wildcat just dies in a street fight because there was no better way to resolve one of DC's first superhero's fate. Finally we thought this season will pay up because Ra's al Ghul is the big bad guy here, and how it ends? Just one word - terrible. Expand
