    Even in its first half-hour American Vandal begins to drag. A cliffhanger ending pushed me on to episode two, which also failed to move the plot along.

    Yacenda and Perrault create such an unexpectedly engrossing mystery that the eventual muddled resolution is a bit underwhelming, and sometimes the jokes get lost in the intricate details. Over the course of eight episodes, the show develops an impressive range of believable teenage characters, and as silly as the story can be, it’s the grounded reality of the show’s world that makes it funny.

    It starts out under the guise of a so-stupid it's funny mockumentary. You expect it to be a shallow comedy with silly humor. Instead, it evolves into an incredibly well-written meaningful crime story. The satire is on-point. It has its laugh-out-loud moments but it's actually more thought-provoking than funny.

    Deceptively great show overall. It misleads you to think its a shallow comedy, then delivers a complex meaningful story. This actually further echoes its message, which is genius.    … Full Review »

    I went into it with low expectations, expecting the basic dick jokes and whatnot. Was pleasantly surprised when it went past that and gave some criticisms on the justice system and profiling. Smart and funny with subtle humor. Being in high school myself, it was easy to relate to the characters and with the school itself. I’ve been to four different high schools and I can say without a doubt that this is the most realistic high school representation that I’ve seen in any show or movie. From the teachers to the students, you can tell the show is written with that in mind.… Full Review »
