This show seems obsessed with checking as many inclusivity boxes as possible. Storylines are then built around this and the characters are really just stereotypical caricatures. I really wanted to like this show but it's pushing a politically correct agenda at the expense of good stories. Nothing wrong with a diverse cast but it shouldn't be so forced and disingenuous.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, the sex scenes are way too much for this early in the evening. Don’t care if it’s homo, bi, hetero, or what. It’s too much for a show broadcast during family hours. Stop throwing highly sexualized scenes in our faces. We don’t need it to advance any subplot.

The captain’s obsession with his hair and the look was funny for a while until it wasn’t. Are we doing embedded ads for hair and skin care?

This might turn into a decent show if the writers and producers respect Texas and their traditions rather than make fun of them. The scene with the supposed old lady bigot was the worst in reverse racism.

As with 911, this show is best when the teams are out doing rescues. The garbage behind the scenes personal stories are tedious, predictable, and boring.

I love the original 911 show , so i was surprised I was so disappointed with how slow this show drags along and lack of quality... First do we really need to have another cancer show right on episode one.??
Liv Tyler had some good roles in her movies like Armageddon, but for this show , she is not a good fit and they need to find a way to exit her character ASAP. Rob Lowe, who I usually

Rob Lowe, who I usually love , for some reason isnt up to his usual standards either...find some characters who are enthusiastic about their roles and better written plots so we can all stay awake during the show please, I would hate to see a show with good potential become history.

My fiancee who loves the 9-1-1 series literally forced me to watch this. I don't care for the original show but it's got some good moments.
This first episode felt like the most in your face checklist I have ever seen,
Gay couple. Check Transgender. Check White male with anger issues. Check White female who's a boss. Check Mixed race couple. Check Muslim saving America. Check Look,

Look, be woke if that's what you want but maybe at least try to be subtle about it. My fiance found it laughable how heavy handed this show was with this woke mentality. Look a show virtue signaling is nothing new. But story and plot first guys. Virtue signal between the lines, at least pretend you have competent writers.
Not that it is relevant we're a mixed race couple I am definitely more conservative than my fiancee, so it's obvious I found this virtue signalling hilarious. But my fiancee is much more left than me and even she found it absolutely over the top laughable in your face virtue checklist.

Personification of the inevitable mutilation of the corpse of Fox under the knife of Disney. Devoid of any edge Fox was once known for, this is just flavorlessly bland cud to fill time. Even if you watched 911, this is a definitive step down in every aspect.

This show is far superior to the original in every way because of its inclusiveness. It's hilarious that people are complaining about the show being woke as if that's a bad thing.

9-1-1: Lone Star is my 3rd favorite new TV show of 2020 and one of my favorite TV shows of all time. The writing was stupendous, I loved how they made sure to write characters from all different backgrounds and characters with all different types of struggles and traumas and I loved how raw and emotional the writing was. The acting was outstanding especially from Liv Tyler, Sierra McClain, Ronen Rubinstein, Jim Parrack, Lyndsy Fonseca, Rob Lowe, Natacha Karam, Brett Rice, Natalie Zea, Brian Michael Smith, and Billy Burke also Barry Corbin's guest role was great. I loved this first season and it was a for sure A+ and I can not wait for next season. Expand

A good show so far! I, as a Texan, have few issues with it, because I have enough common sense to know that people that are not white, cisgendered, hetero, christians exist -- and exist in Texas! The presence of Lowe and Tyler helps offset the silliness that goes on around them.

“Lone Star,” starring Rob Lowe, has more modest ambitions and delivers far less exciting results [than “9-1-1.”]

9-1-1: Lone Star isn’t misbegotten: Its bones, coming as they do from its forerunner series “9-1-1,” are solid, and aspects of its conceit are sweet, if at times so utopian as to defy belief.
