    Toy Soldiers is an excellent game and even though this HD iteration isn't a huge improvement over the original, it's still sure to provide hours upon hours of tower defense fun for fans of the genre. Plus, its multiplayer modes can be a genuine blast

    If you don't own a Switch and enjoy Bomberman then Super Bomberman R Shiny Edition is certainly worth picking up. Even though it doesn't improve everything from the original release, there's so much content here that you're bound to have a blast.

    NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound is a great modern interpretation of 2D ninja action and although it can range from tedious to frustrating at times, the core of the experience remains exciting, tight, and action-packed.

    TUNIC is a great indie game that will get its hooks in you as you try to decipher its incredibly elaborate game world and once you feel like you've seen everything, you'll keep discovering more and more to the point where it's hard to not think about this wonderful game.

    Entropy Survivors is my favourite Survivors-like so far with its colourful 3D visuals, huge arsenal of weaponry, and online co-op that adds a ton of fun to an already thrilling action-packed formula. Definitely hop to it and check it out, chums.

    If you're a fellow fan of the original Death end re;Quest then playing Death end re;Quest 2 is a must. Although it doesn't feel like a huge step up for the series, there's definitely a lot of fun to be had in its delightfully twisted world.

    To my delight, YUKI is my favourite VR game of 2021 so if you enjoy arcade-like experiences set in a roguelike structure then you should definitely give it a go. It's challenging, unique, action-packed, and its unlockables are hearty rewards; what more could you want?

    R-Type Delta: HD Boosted is an absolute gem of a shoot 'em up that's near and dear to my heart but holy hot darn, will it make you want to rip your hair out so make sure you bring plenty of patience and it'll end up being a supremely rewarding experience.

    R-Type Dimensions has been around for almost a decade and this EX edition doesn't really add anything substantial to the compilation. That being said, these are still two of the best shoot 'em ups ever made.

    Dungeons 3 is simply one of the most underrated games in recent years and now that you can enjoy dozens of hours of bonus content via this Complete Collection, I highly recommend it to any real-time strategy fan, especially those with a dark sense of humour.

    Yurukill: The Calumniation Games does a fantastic job of marrying a dark murder mystery with a rewarding shoot 'em up. IzanagiGames has managed to get the formula just right and I hope they invest in the series with a sequel that has an even larger scope.

    FROGUN will definitely be one of most underrated games of 2022. With a pitch-perfect N64-era presentation, intuitive yet challenging gameplay, tons of replay value, and oodles of charm, there's certainly a lot to love. So, hop to it if you're up for the challenge.

    I friggin' loved my time with Crash Team Rumble and I plan on playing it much, much more. Although I was a bit hesitant at first, the amount of strategy that you can incorporate allows this frantic multiplayer game to really shine battle after battle.

    Trouble Witches FINAL! Episode 01 Daughters of Amalgam is jam-packed with flashy shoot 'em up fun that's set in a bubbly world filled with awesome characters and enjoyable bosses. Its gameplay systems really come together nicely to make for one score-chasing good time.

    Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S is the best classic-style Picross game that I've ever played thanks to its cheerful presentation, streamlined gameplay, ridiculous amount of puzzles, and rewarding unlockables. If you're a Hatsune Miku or Picross fan, it's a must-play.

    Splasher is an exciting, colorful, and challenging game that platforming aficionados need to check out. Completing it once is a monumental task on its own but the fast and fluid controls and clever level design make replaying and perfecting stages just as enjoyable.

    Even though I enjoyed its online multiplayer much more than its story mode, there's no denying that DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is a great fighting game. It's also one that the more you play it, the more you'll enjoy it because of its steep yet rewarding learning curve.

    I had a lovely time playing Luigi's Mansion 2 HD as it brought back memories as well as solidified how special of a series these ghost-busting adventures are. Plus, the animation and audio design remain some of the best in all of gaming.

    X-Morph: Defense is one of the most impressive and addictive games that I've played all year. The blend of twin-stick shooting and tower defense is perfect for some intense gameplay and the fact that you can enjoy it with a pal is the icing on the cake.

    Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution does so much right that it's easily one of the best games that the franchise has ever had. It just goes to show that old-school approaches to making a memorable game doesn't mean that its quality will suffer.
