While it expects you to make your own fortune, your losses and setbacks are measured and not too severe to recover from. There is a lot to like about this little vendor sim and well worth the price of admission.

I’m a big fan of Yars: Recharged. The first time I fired it up, I ended up playing it for the rest of the evening. Admittedly, I love the original game too. But I think this game does a wonderful job of adapting the basic loop of that classic and bringing in enough modern elements and new ideas to justify itself as something of a sequel. I really like its unusual blend of frantic shooting and calculated puzzle-solving, and I would happily recommend it to Atari fans and newcomers alike.

If you're looking for a faster paced puzzle game, Eliss Infinity is a good bet. It offers up a diverse gameplay experience, it has a ton of content, and an endless mode ensures that you'll have plenty to do after you've beaten every level.

A few missteps aside, the puzzles -- while of the traditional match-this-item-with-this-NPC sort -- are clever and well-realized, even if they tend to be a little on the nose. It's still one of the best in the series, funnier than "Moai Better Blues" and with clearer puzzle design than "Raving Dead."

Two Point Campus: Space Academy is the best kind of DLC. It feels like a perfect extension of the base game, and delivers a lot of content for its asking price. It might be a bit challenging compared to the base game for some, but this is exactly what I wanted from the DLC for the game. If you enjoyed Two Point Campus, the Space Academy DLC is an essential. I just hope the stability of the Switch version can be improved in future updates.

While it might sound like I’m down on Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus in one way, I ended up loving the game a lot. The aesthetic, music, and traversal all come together to be a fantastic Metroidvania. I usually end up enjoying Humble Games’ published titles, but I was surprised and delighted by Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, and hope to buy the physical release soon.

Setting aside the mandatory ads, this is one of the best things I’ve seen come out of Konami in quite a while. Imaginative? No. I mean, it’s just Picross. And it’s certainly trading heavily on nostalgia. But it’s a very well-done take on that kind of puzzle, and I’d be telling one of the biggest lies in my life if I said the window dressing hadn’t scored a direct hit on me. I hope the game gets updated with more franchises, puzzles, music, and perhaps some larger grid sizes, but what’s already here is incredible for a free game.

Overall, if you have one of the latest devices, you'll be fine; if not, I'm truly not sure you could play this series and enjoy it, which is a dreadful shame. Here's hoping the performance is improved dramatically and soon.

Super Mega Zero manages the difficult job of finding new depths to plumb in a sub-genre that has seen a lot of love over the years. Every time I thought I had it all figured out, another stage would come along and force me to come at things completely differently. The changing number gimmick combines with some truly inspired puzzle and platforming challenges to create a truly enjoyable, incredibly tricky action game. Throw in the extra collectible Pi items and speed runs, and you’ve got a game that will last you for a long while.

In many ways, Chaos Rings II is the quintessential JRPG. You will spend a lot of time grinding. You will be gently but firmly led along the story's path to its inevitable end. You will see all of the familiar JRPG tropes. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but your decision in regards to whether or not you actually want to purchase the game is going to be dependent on this. For all of its flaws, Chaos Rings II has done more than ample justice to the formula. It's refined, it's meaty, and it's definitely worth the high price of entry.

With an eerie ambient music and only 14.5 mb space, it's an easy game to get into. Once you do, that gameplay is going to dazzle you.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess feels like a PS2 game built for modern consoles in the best possible ways. It has a few rough edges, and two bosses annoyed me, but I adore everything else about Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. It runs well on Steam Deck, has excellent music, a gorgeous aesthetic, and was structured so I kept dipping in and out of it for an hour a day since getting review codes. The structure suits portable play as well, and despite loving how it looks on PS5 and Xbox Series X, I found myself happiest with Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess on Steam Deck.

In its current state, Super Meat Boy Forever is best on mobile, but the iOS version at least needs a bit more work. Despite the issues, I’ve loved most of what Super Meat Boy Forever has to offer, and it is hard to argue against it being worth the very low asking price right now. It took nearly a decade to hit the platform following its original announcement, but Super Meat Boy Forever for mobile is here, and the wait has been worth it.

Bug Princess 2 shares a ton in common with the original Bug Princess, but thanks to some key differences in scoring and completely new stages it really stands out on its own. And like Bug Princess it's also not overly complex like some later Cave titles, so for shooter newbies it remains a strong entry point to the genre.

While I hope Inscryption gets touchscreen support in a future update, it has arrived as an excellent conversion on Nintendo’s hybrid system. If you skipped prior releases with the hope of enjoying Inscryption on the go, your wait has been worth it. I’m looking forward to grabbing the eventual physical release. If you enjoy unique takes on narratives, Inscryption is a game you do not want to miss. It also shines on the OLED display on Switch.

With the interesting draining and upgrading mechanics, a striking presentation, and a surprisingly fair level of difficulty, Drainus stands out in a very competitive genre to offer a different kind of deal for players. While it isn’t directly comparable to the likes of Ikaruga in specific ways, I get the sense it will have a similar wider appeal to the one that game enjoyed. On the flip side, the lack of online leaderboards and lower emphasis on scoring mechanics might hurt the game with the hardcore fans of the genre. Overall, however, it’s an amazing effort with a lot of obvious thought put into its design that pays off handsomely.

My favorite thing about Ziggurat is that it dismantles the hardcore-casual myth that has so long plagued videogame culture generally, and iOS gaming specifically. An "endless" shooter with Peggle controls doesn't make for good advertising, but Ziggurat is a game that forces its players to pay attention, to process and react to constantly shifting situations, to do the (literally) impossible.

The new content not only adds more stuff to the game, it also presents some interesting new experiences. It somehow raises the temperature on the excitement and tension even higher. Five dollars is a meager price to pay for such an impressive extension to Dead Cells.
