Le Tour De France Season 2017 is the Team Sky of cycling games. It is the best of the genre, it is familiar and it’s liked by only the true hardcore.

If a digital ‘choose your own adventure’ book with epic audio and gorgeous art is your cup of tea, then this historical/supernatural drama will be right up your alley.

Micro Machines as a brand is still great fun but you’ll find that’s sustained only for the briefest of moments.

A few extra bells and whistles keeps Splatoon 2 relevant and fun on its new platform, but Nintendo plays it a little too safe for hardened Splatters.

A tough, technical fighter with a lot of resources to help you conquer it. Shame about the story mode, though.

Death Squared doesn't do anything particularly new but its execution is wonderful. More to the point, with the right group of friends, it's a downright hilarious way to spend an evening.

Whilst lacking in the depth that some other management simulations offer, Pro Cycling Manager still does a good job of transferring the technical world of pro cycling into a competent if unremarkable game.

It’s great fun and easy to play, but hard to master. It is delightful on your own playing against the world’s high scores and those of your friends, but also wholesomely entertaining as a party game given each go takes seconds or minutes and you can try again very quickly. There is no right or wrong way to play and many sets of tactics which can be employed to garner great results. You might blast through the levels, or collect all the trophies, or spend ages just chasing the top of that leaderboard. You can play it in multiple ways, trying to achieve varied goals. I wholeheartedly suggest you take the highway to the Danger Zone. There, I said it.

Victor Vran is an excellent port of a solid Diablo clone combining solid 60fps (ish) dungeon crawling with some heavily action-oriented demon-slaying gameplay.

It is because of the more interesting innovations, and promisingly atmospheric ghost stories, that Perception's issues render it so disappointing. After its initial scares and exciting concept, it all begins to fall flat. The big reveal for how the stories were all connected felt muddled and underwhelming. The game seems to sacrifice vital narrative development in favour of inconsistent and misplaced atmosphere building. With as much thought put into the execution, as was clearly put into its concept, this game may have been something special, instead it haunts the realm of mediocre.

The sight gags and deadpanning from the crew are nowhere to be found, leaving the burden of engagement squarely on the shoulders of a featherweight story which simply does not do enough to carry it. As such, the next episode will prove to be pivotal — both in terms of shaping the series’ arc, and in confirming whether this spin-off was worth Telltale’s investment in the first place.

Arms is Nintendo at its very best. It keeps things simple enough to be fun for the casual player but nuanced enough to satisfy hardcore fighters.

If you’re a fan of the series and didn’t get to experience it on PS2, you’ll want to pick up Till The End Of Time purely due to it being the series’ highlight. Otherwise, this third entry will be a divisive one, even amongst those who love JRPGs. Its combat is good, but everything else is simply unremarkable, and a basic port only serves to highlight how far game design has come since its release.

Minor inconveniences aside, Injustice 2 surpasses not only its predecessor but most fighting games on the market today. Boasting a vibrant roster of characters, plenty of replayability and some of the smoothest gameplay we’ve ever seen from the genre, it makes for a superb beat-em-up whether you’re a button basher or a combo king. To think, we would never have been treated to such a well-made fighter if not for the marriage of seemingly unrelated franchises all those years ago.
