Ghost 1.0 features strong gameplay hooks in the form of twin-stick shooting and enemy possession to keep players engaged to the end. Sadly, it's not quite up there with other metroidvanias on Switch.

If you're in the market for an auto- or endless-runner on Switch, you can't do much better than Chameleon Run Deluxe. While the high price point is a definite issue compared to mobile and the new levels aren't totally worth it, it's an ideal way to test your memory and skill, and enjoy yourself while doing it.

It's the middle part of a story and at times it certainly feels middling. More polished that the first title yet nowhere near as enthralling or captivating, it feels like it was dragging the story along at times. Fans of the first title will still find plenty to enjoy, and I hope that the final part sees some of the choices pay off.

Ultra Space Battle Brawl is a highly original spin on the classic Pong formula. Tense gameplay, beautiful visuals and a stellar soundtrack all come together to provide a fantastic experience.

Bomber Crew is a brilliantly chaotic title that offers a ton of enjoyment. Sadly, the performance issues in handheld mode and the learning curve on the controls mean it falls just short of being an amazing release.

The Wardrobe is a genuinely funny entry to the point-and-click adventure genre. Whilst the puzzles can prove to be a bit frustrating, its visuals and plot make this a worthwhile purchase.

With a soft world that you can bend with your actions, Semblance brings something unique to the 2D platformer. Barring some collision issues, it does provide a steady learning curve, with innovative challenges, all presented with a distinctive art style.

Awkward is a game that tries hard to be interesting and live up to its infamous name but fails terribly. People who like party games may find it a nice game to kill time with, but it doesn't have anything else that makes it stand out from the crowd.

Feature-light and shady DLC practices aside, Blazblue Cross Tag Battle isn't a particularly bad game, but its lack of content will struggle to keep the attention of fans of the represented series, who may be expecting more.

Code of Princess EX takes many influences from the classic brawlers, but, like a lot of them, it delivers a repetitive and boring gameplay loop. It tries to compensate that with tons of content, but it is hard to be encouraged to try it all when the basics are so weak.

Painting the town red is an easy feat to achieve in de Blob, but that can't prevent the objectives from being incredibly tedious, basic, and simply not on par with the modern platformers today.

I really wanted to enjoy Dream Alone. Whilst it's clear that certain aspects are inspired by the likes of Super Meat Boy, the platforming elements just don't hold up as well. The unforgiving deaths and inability to see where you're going most of the time makes the whole experience a bit of a disappointment.

Kill the Bad Guy focuses a bit too much on trial and error to be a truly compelling puzzle game. Nevertheless, the kills are inventive enough to warrant a purchase somewhere down the line.

Pato Box stands out for several reasons, and there is clear inspiration from certain successful games and films. Developer Bromio does an admirable job at implementing these cohesively, but it’s unfortunate that difficulty is a flaw overshadowing this black & white revenge tale.

Pocket Rumble is a delightful fighting game boasting tight gameplay and lovely visuals. Its brutal difficulty is a bit at odds with the simplified control scheme, but as with anything, perseverance breeds excellence.

Octopath Traveler is a grower, and one which takes a good while to reach full swing. The reward for the perseverance is a beautiful world and enough story to shake a stick at, but not a wonderfully satisfying conclusion.

Bloons TD 5 is possibly the pinnacle of what tower defence games can offer, with tonnes of content, deep gameplay and more ways to play than you'll ever get through, there's something here for anyone even remotely interested in the tower defence genre.

Pode is a sweet puzzle-platformer about two different beings working together to fulfil their dreams. It can be frustrating at times due to camera problems, but it is a worth adventure to be shared with a friend.

Shiftlings: Enhanced Edition is an incredibly fun indie puzzle platformer that has plenty of content to keep you entertained for hours. With an entertaining premise, upbeat music and enough cringeworthy jokes to last a lifetime, this is definitely one eShop title that you won't want to miss - even if it does have issues with its control scheme and sense of fairness.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus doesn't disappoint either with its story, characters, or in the Nazi-slaying department. The fact that you can do so portably, largely without compromise cements the Nintendo Switch version as one of the best ways to play despite a few niggles found across all platforms.

Crash Bandicoot is back, and hopefully now for good. The original Naughty Dog trilogy are the best in the series, and not only does this collection see their debut on a Nintendo platform, but it's the best version possible of the games. Willy the Wombat is reborn, and with Vicarious Visions at the helm I now have high hopes for the future, especially considering Crash has become the fastest selling game on Switch in 2018.

Jolt Family Robot Racer attempts to add a competitive edge to the platforming formula, unfortunately a lack of progression and content holds back already lacklustre gameplay. With little to offer it's hard to recommend the game to anyone in particular but there's something promising about the concept of racing in a platforming style.
