Paradise Killer brings a unique approach to a visual novel adventure game, where first-person exploration in an open world becomes part of the picture and the player takes part in a criminal investigation with potential multiple outcomes. While the exploration part can feel rather slow and cumbersome regarding the distances travelled in the game, the investigation component is nothing short of a wonder, with its myriad of characters and intricate, alluring plot. Everyone who feels attracted towards visual novels and investigatory adventures should take a close look at Paradise Killer.

Yakuza Kiwami is a remake that successfully fulfils its double purpose: to deliver an updated experience to players who enjoyed the original, and to welcome new players. Its enveloping plot, with a myriad of captivating characters and events, the fun and engaging combat system, the possibilities of exploring the game's world and, very importantly, a brilliant technical performance, make this version of Yakuza Kiwami on the Nintendo Switch 2 the ultimate edition of the game, even if a few elements can feel dated at some moments.

With its wide, lush and consistent open world settings, missions with different gameplay approaches, gorgeous art style, exquisite soundtrack and effects, and an overall very competent performance, Star Wars Outlaws is a unique opportunity to experience an uncommon take on Star Wars based on survival and deception, rather than on brute force. Compliments where they are due, this game was treated like it deserved.

A long game, with a lot of investment on its plot and an improved combat system, it may not look the best but its simple visual outlook won't be an issue for longtime fans. Although not all its elements are essential, those who were looking forward to the conclusion of the series will be more than satisfied with Trails of Cold Steel IV.

Inazuma Eleven - Victory Road marks a welcome return of the popular but long absent sports RPG series, and it's a new take that brings Inazuma Eleven to our day without compromising on what made it fun in the first place. The plot is more ambitious and interesting, the team management is more in depth and complex, and there's plenty of content to explore. Not only that, but its DLC is free, and very engaging as well. Fans of the previous games and newcomers alike will find plenty to wrap themselves with in this new step for the Inazuma Eleven series.

Going Under has the format of a roguelite dungeon crawler that's been fused with a plot that satirizes contemporary capitalism and the corporate world, and it works delightfully. The humour might be directed at a niche but the addictive gameplay and accessibility options mean this will not go lost on anyone. While rather short, this is an experience that is definitely worth looking into, even by those less keen on the game's plot.

Citizen Sleeper marks an unusual arrival on the Nintendo Switch of an RPG inspired by board games, and it does a very good job at creating a somber and dystopian atmosphere with matching audiovisual qualities, while delivering enveloping parallel plot lines. Its short length, however, and a certain lack of gameplay mechanics that truly stand out, mean that Citizen Sleeper's appeal will be limited to players who are not part of its main target audience.

Ten years after its original release, Skyward Sword gets a remaster treatment in the form of an HD improvement which not only makes it a sharper, prettier, more fluid experience, but also tweaks the way we play with it. Its new control schemes allow every Switch owner to enjoy the experience, though they take some time to get used to, and there are several positive changes regarding tutorials and the player's interaction with Fi that make this a more player-friendly game. Fans of the original will enjoy this revisiting, and new Zelda fans will be given a proper welcome to the Wii classic.

With a vast, open world, a captivating combat system, and a beautiful art style, there's a lot to look forward to in Wings of Ruin. At the same time, the game is not free from performance issues and despite its high level of ambition, some sections feel too empty. Overall, the experience is not without its flaws, but the game is a very positive contribution to the Nintendo Switch library.

MIO: Memories in Orbit is an exquisite looking Metroidvania that plunges the player in a sci-fi adventure where the plot is drip-fed and the typical mechanics of the genre work exactly as they should. The start feels rather slow and underwhelming but as the game progresses, we find ourselves thinking the opposite, which makes MIO more suited to experienced players. Thanks to a flawless technical performance on the Nintendo Switch 2 and fine-tuned controls, MIO always feels right to play, and some of its difficulty barriers are addressed by the game's options.

The gameplay will appeal to players who enjoy this kind of games, but it will feel repetitive to those who are less keen on its mechanics. Nonetheless, all players who are willing to tread new paths in Penko Park will find more reasons to keep the game in their hands and will find it less repetitive than it might seem at first.

Arise: A Simple Story - Definitive Edition is an emotional and visually striking journey where a simple but involving gameplay will bring players to focus on the experience, while its exquisite soundtrack fits perfectly with the game's purpose. Featuring a deliberately slow pace that will soothe the most stressful souls, Arise is a very welcoming work that will fit very well in anyone's Nintendo Switch, especially in this Definitive Edition that brings a good amount of additional content.

Replacing turn-based gameplay with dynamic action, Three Hopes brings three different stories that intertwine with each other, along with different endings and side quests that allow access to additional rewards. While the missions could be more varied, the gameplay is very fun and engaging, and this is without a doubt a very good game that can bring a renewal to both the Fire Emblem and Dynasty Warriors series.

This new chapter features the best combat ever seen in the Fire Emblem series, as well as a new mechanic that sets up a link between characters of different games and their abilities, which is extraordinary. At the same time, Engage features the least interesting plot in the series, as well as many unnecessary dialogues that feel like a chore to go through. With an exquisite visual background, Engage's positive aspects should be more than enough to appeal to those who want to focus on the combat and interactions and who are willing to put the plot in the backseat of the experience.

Assassin's Creed Shadows on the Nintendo Switch 2 is a remarkable adaptation of this vast, open world RPG experience. Everything that made the game remarkable has been successfully ported to the Switch 2, such as the dual approach to the missions thanks to the differences between the two protagonists, the intricacies of the combat system, the shift in weather seasons with its gameplay implications, the attention to detail and fluid performance, all of that comes together to deliver a marvelous chapter of the Assassin's Creed series to Nintendo's new console. Veterans and newcomers alike will feel at home, with the added benefit of being able to play anywhere.

Lair of the Clockwork God sets a rather ambitious purpose for itself: to successfully merge platforming and point and click mechanics and wrap them up in a funny and enjoyable package with its own brand of humour. It succeeds at the latter, less so at the former. Indeed, platforming and point and click still feel entirely separate from each other in this work, but that doesn't mean they can't be enjoyed.

The combat is fun and the combos available make the experience more engaging, while the game's presentation is a charm to look at, with extra points for its phenomenal soundtrack. At the same time, ScourgeBringer has nothing particularly new that can set it apart from its roguelite peers, and its difficulty level can sometimes feel unnecessarily exaggerated.

The Falconeer: Warrior Edition is truly a gem that fully deserves its place next to every Nintendo Switch owner.

Stilstand is a game that evokes particularly poignant emotions in the time we live in, where the social isolation caused by the global pandemic has highlighted the importance of addressing mental health issues linked to loneliness and depression. With its comic book art style and impeccably written plot, Stilstand's only major sin is to be over so quickly and giving us few reasons to pick it up again once finished, seeing as it does a stellar job at everything.
