Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy is a direct sequel in the Atelier series and it brings significant improvements over its predecessor. The exploration and combat mechanics are now slicker and more dynamic, while the freedom of movement has taken a major step ahead. Coupled with its exquisite soundtrack and despite a lower prominence of the game's plot, Atelier Ryza 2 is an instant classic that provides a marvelous experience to everyone.

Atelier Ryza 2 continues the adventures of Ryza and company three years after the events of the original game, introducing us to new characters and further improving the formula that fans love so much for a promising franchise with a lot of future ahead.

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout was a great start, and Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy does an excellent job, for the most part, of building on what was already there. Is it perfect? No, it's not. But that's okay. Looking past the fact that this, plain and simple, is a fun game, Atelier Ryza 2 once again keeps my faith alive in GUST being on the mend. I don't know if there's going to be an Atelier Ryza 3, but I hope that there will be. And if there is, then I know that it will be even better than the two wonderful games that have made up the trilogy so far.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy takes everything good about Gust's 2019 Atelier adventure and further refines it, resulting in the best entry in the long-running franchise to date. This may still be a relatively small-scale, old-fashioned JRPG experience, but it's one that's full of heart, great characters, slick combat and some excellent new ruin-based dungeons. Anyone looking for a relaxed and enchanting JRPG to sink their time into should definitely check this one out.

Ryza charms as a lead protagonist, and her adventures in this sequel will engage your mind and your heart. [Issue #51 – March/April 2021, p. 71]

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy might not be ambitious, but if you enjoy Atelier titles, it's a solid and engaging experience. It's basically the original Ryza title, only larger and more polished. The Atelier franchise usually keeps things fresh with a new protagonist and cast for every game, but with the full cast from the original title, Ryza 2 can sometimes feel like a repeat of the previous adventure. This isn't bad, since the original Ryza was fun and the gameplay is solid, but it can sometimes feel a touch too familiar.

Atelier Ryza 2, while not a bad game by any means, did not live up to what it could have been. There are several things that sat wrong, many of them due to fixing things that were not broken to begin with or adding in too many extra features without giving much reason to mess with them. Balance of both gameplay and plot suffered some for this, and it’s sad that this game had enough bleeps on my Disappoint-O-Meter that I can’t say it ends up as much more than an average title review-wise.

Not as amazing as the first one but still amazing 10/10. The beginning is slow but then it picks up steam and is very fun.

A worthy sequel that surpasses Ryza 1 in many ways but falls short in others. Let me get the negatives out of the way first. NarrativelyA worthy sequel that surpasses Ryza 1 in many ways but falls short in others. Let me get the negatives out of the way first. Narratively speaking, Ryza 2 is much weaker than it’s predecessor. It seemingly starts off much stronger than Ryza 1 but as the game progresses I realized that much of what I was doing didn’t really seem to matter all that much by the time I reached the end of the game. Furthermore, I found the endgame content (and more importantly replayability) to be lacking which is a shame because after my 50 hour playthrough I was hungry for more content especially after putting well over 100 hours into Ryza 1. Those negatives aside, Ryza 2 improves on almost every other aspect including but not limited to: graphics, exploration, alchemy and combat. An Atelier game has never looked better and it not only looks great but runs fantastic on Switch! The beautiful natural environments as well as the ancient temples are so much fun to explore especially with new abilities such as swimming and climbing. Alchemy has been streamlined even further making this the most accessible game to date. Lastly, Ryza 2 has taken the fun real-time turn-based battles from the first entry and made changes to make it even more enjoyable. There’s a lot to love about this game and even if the story isn’t as strong as some of the other entries in the series the charming characters and addictive gameplay will be enough to keep you coming back for more alchemy! Love this game! So much fun. Its 9 out of 10 though because some kinks are in the game such as the synthesis glitch when you make 'proper' items
