In fact, apart from the world itself, the great attraction of World of Warcraft for me is the community. Making friends and helping each other out is especially enjoyable.

Much hyped and, as a result much anticipated, and a long time in coming, it lived up to all my expectations. It's a marvellous piece of story telling, and promises more to come. The highs overwhelmed any lows and I loved it for what it was and didn't mind at all what it wasn't.

It's one of those games that will capture you utterly, and take you along on a wonderfully entertaining ride and, in my opinion, it shouldn't be missed by any self-respecting adventurer with a good sense of humour. If you've already played it, then play it again, if you haven't, then there's a real treat waiting in store.

This game could consume you too, it could change your life. Good news on one level but even if it's bad news and all your friends and family disown you, there's still a silver lining. This game is value plus for money!

Are you a fan of conspiracy theories? Is the Grey Death a manufactured plague? Have you perchance heard of the Illuminati, or the clandestine Majestic 12 group? In that case, you've found the right game. It may not answer all those questions, but it certainly pushes the right buttons.

It's been a long haul, more than two months of solid game-play, but I have been absolutely engrossed by every minute! Very few games earn such an accolade from this reviewer.

Perhaps the strongest aspect of Fallout is that it is ideal for RPG newbies yet at the same time provides a depth of role-playing that veterans can really get stuck into. It also has the best replay value of any game I've experienced to date.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was well worth the wait. It's a perfect game for fans of this type of adventure and deserves to be every bit as popular as Myst.

Torment boasts a thoroughly enjoyable story line, and I can pretty much guarantee you won't be guessing how it all ends up with any degree of accuracy. This game has very few weaknesses, and predictability is certainly not one of them!

Finally, this game deserves the highest score I can give. The things that really matter are here. For those who enjoy this type of RPG, this game offers an experience you shouldn't pass up.

If you are a fan of classic roleplaying games then Wizardry 8 is a must. If you haven't played one then try it out. It's just too good to miss.

It didn't simply meander to the finishing line, but stayed strong and surprising. Like the final part of "The Lord of the Rings," the completion of the journey of Hans and Kate deserves the highest marks.

I thoroughly appreciated it from the opening sequence and found I didn't want to stop playing even when I was tired.

If "Riven" was impressive, this is extraordinary. The images are smooth and crisp and detailed. Clouds look like clouds, rock looks hard, water is fluid and deep, and sharp looks like it would hurt.

It's a great introduction, and sets a high standard. Christie fans, detective game fans, and adventure game fans won't want to miss this.

All in all, Deus Ex:Invisible War proffers an intriguing storyline, powerful presentation, and relentless execution, delivering it all with a punch.

Everything else about Divinity was a joy, and now I find that it's crept onto my list of 5 favourite RPGs of all time. And that's one tough list to get on, believe me!

It really feels like another world and you can play the game however you like - be a mage, thief, acrobat, pearl diver, bodyguard or warrior. Or like myself, be a little bit of each.

The story is well paced, with many plot twists to keep you guessing, and plentiful side quests to keep you occupied and chasing XP for that next level up.

The conversation puzzles are interesting in their own right because the dialogue is so good, but essentially amount to covering off all dialogue paths until you discover what you need to progress in the game.

Fallout 2 is a worthy successor to Fallout, and one that deserves a place in every dedicated role-playing gamer's collection. Don't be without it!

A thoroughly absorbing and satisfying adventure, all the more remarkable given its humble origins. Don't play it to finish, play it to savour.

I did find the game to contain large portions of the elusive element of fun whilst I was playing, and a sense of exploration and wonder at some of the environments and events.

So if you like meandering and cogitating, if soaking up the world around you is a pleasure in itself, if immediate understanding is not essential, if kicking back and looking at the sea is an ok thing to do when you haven't got a clue what else to do, if you can forgive the odd puzzle, and if patience is your virtue, then you should definitely make haste to Revelation.

TLJ is a masterpiece and one of the best Adventures to be released during the past few years. Unfortunately it should be avoided by people who are violently repelled, for themselves or their offspring, by some extremely crude language.

Syberia is a very fine adventure game, gorgeous to look at and with an intriguing and compelling story. It's tremendously enjoyable despite the air of sadness.

At the very end the final confrontation is a treat. It can be one almighty battle that will test you to the limit, or it can be easier, or perfectly simple. It all depends on what has happened before.

EverQuest strikes me as a great idea well executed. I found myself irrevocably attached to my character and, once I gained enough power, thoroughly enjoyed helping others advance themselves.

The absurd scenarios of this series are perfect for the characters of Sam & Max. The excellent and colourful artwork, music and sound effects also help to set the scene.

It's all about the puzzling, and it's damn fine. It doesn't lead you by the nose and gives you lots to think about. Breakthroughs often lead to other insights and on you go. I did need help, and slapped myself sometimes for being so dense. Other times I simply applauded a very good puzzle. Almost everything is intuitive, there to be teased out if you take the time to ponder.

So... what's my final take on The Lost Crown then? More ambitious than Dark Fall, that's for sure. And quite a bit longer. Scariest thing I've played in a long time, maybe even since Realms of the Haunting.

Gabriel Knight 3 is a fascinating and enjoyable mystery. It is also a good long game with a plot and puzzles that are quite absorbing, but be warned, it is also a dark tale containing ritual sacrifices of the throat-slashing variety.

An excellent addition, difficulty levels is something that would benefit every adventure game.

Every aspect has been well polished making it a pleasure to play. The game becomes more addictive as you progress.

So it isn't perfect, particularly not for players who prefer using the mouse, but Neverwinter Nights 2 is nevertheless a hugely enjoyable trip.

Meticulously designed, Barrow Hill delivers a Cornish sojourn definitely worth taking.

There's lots of tasks to take care of, lots of goodies to collect, plus, of course, the opportunity to get to know a little about the versatility of the Great Master, Leonardo Da Vinci.

A fun park is an obvious location for some fun investigating. Add some hauntings for a bit of spice. It's not a spooky game though, so it's suitable for all comers.

I thought that maybe the game could have been designed a bit tighter so that it wasn't so easy to solve puzzles before having all the clues, but I know I'm on shaky ground here. Many players prefer openness (or non-linearity) in adventure games, so I shouldn't dwell on this point.

There is a variety of activities for Nemo fans to enjoy and it won't matter if kids haven't seen the movie because Nemo and Marlin will make some new friends here.

The documentary is a wonderful adjunct to the game, insightful and witty, well put together and with some original footage including the audition of the lead actor and a 1996 spot on Good Morning America (check out the price of the game back then.

This has been quite an enjoyable trip but not one of epic proportions. More story would have gone a long, long way.

The single player game is a worthy challenge for players with a taste for strategic fighting, punctuated with some puzzles, and all wrapped up in a daring journey to save the world.

Like the first Dark Fall, for full enjoyment don't rush through Lights Out. Read the letters and books you find, examine the photos and pictures. Listen to the sounds and embrace the dark. It's a many layered experience.

Don't miss it, Sam & Max turn on the charm once again and dish out plenty of wisecracks in this crazy adventure in the sun. It's short and sweet and a lot of fun.

The characters are interesting, the stories are a good mix and ran smoothly, and wound up satisfactorily.

If you're like me and enjoyed Neverwinter Nights then you'll enjoy Shadows of Undrentide. It's a fun romp through a dangerous, magical land.

A most enjoyable and satisfying puzzle game that you can work through in a couple of sittings or, if you prefer, take a puzzle or two at a time and make it last longer. I would recommend it for any puzzle game fan.

It's not a hard game, but it is a thoughtful game, and you will need to consider everything you know and review your material more than once if you are going to get a conviction.

This game is a light-hearted romp through the old wild west. I happily played it through with a smile on my face and the occasional good chuckle at a playful anachronism or a witty remark. A lot of work has gone into making the characters fun and larger than life.

An exceptionally good brainteaser.

As it is, it was a damn fine fortnight of adventure, and George will no doubt be back on the strength of it.

The puzzles are fun without being too daunting and there is an intriguing mystery to solve which is your ultimate goal. There is a gentle and poignant story and with a name like Keepsake you may be surprised to learn that one of the themes is about letting go.

You can almost feel the damp and the cold; and the echoing 'plink' of unseen dripping water or disembodied moans and a myriad of dungeon clangs and creaks haunt your every step.

If you take time out from puzzle solving the game provides some food for thought, not least of which is the proposition that technology may evolve with a consciousness that finds little use for the carbon-based life forms that created it.

It has plenty to keep you on your toes so try this one if you are feeling energetic and itching to swing your sword and throw some fireballs.

Both the story and the gameplay are substantial and the game is genuinely scary rather than gory. Proving once again that you don't need dripping blood and gore to be scary.

Overall Darkness Within: In Pursuit of Loath Nolder is an entertaining trip through some dark places.

Clare (aged 10) says: I like the game a lot. Jumping over big gaps or on to moving things is a bit hard so I turned on auto jump, which made it a lot easier. Learning spells is pretty easy.

All in all Nancy Drew: Legend of the Crystal Skull is a 'busy' game and a lot of fun to play. Put on your thinking cap for this one as it's weighted more towards puzzling than story.

A suitably gripping and atmospheric thriller and the transitions between the Chicago and Prague investigations are very smooth.

I enjoyed it but I wanted a bit more, more places to explore and more opportunity to admire the Nautilus, and get to know Mina and, perhaps, Captain Nemo a little better.

It's always fun to play adventure games where a teenage girl is the hero. You can guess that I enjoy them a lot as I'm still playing them four years on. My only concern would be the ending, as all of the story didn't seem to quite tie up.

The story is fun and woven together well and puzzle-wise it's the best ever, even with the mini games and timed components that might frustrate some players.

The immersive world created by realMyst was a visual and auditory joy, but it was still essentially a game I had played before, even with the addition of Rime.

An adventure game that has a lot going for it; impressive graphics with seamlessly integrated cut scenes, interesting worlds to explore, varied and challenging puzzles, and some rather nice music for the most part.

A great purchase for patient puzzlers. The graphics are inspiring and the music is superb. Not constant, but it adds that extra eerie touch. And Uru is a world so tantalising you want to keep right on going and explore everywhere and not miss a thing.

The puzzles are generally entertaining and fun to solve and the game sweeps you along with its great characters, story, humour and dialogue.

I had some fun in Stormreach despite sometimes waiting around to find adventuring companions. The dungeons make up for this with the various challenges and secret ways to ferret out.

So if you enjoy inventory based adventures that occasionally have you combining the most unlikely objects, narrative that rolls along at a fairly brisk pace, sumptuous graphics, a good soundtrack, and humour that owes itself to some inventive language translation as much as anything else... then I would recommend giving Secret Files: Tunguska a go.

If you enjoy games like Myst, RHEM or Riven (and of course Schizm); then there is no doubt you will enjoy this. I do, and I did. The 3D engine can't help but add to the experience.

I still rate Arcanum as one of my favourite games. For me, it's the game play that really counts, and Arcanum has bucketloads of that!

It's a game that's particularly good for pre-teen adventurers as the story is simple but entertaining, and the dialogue is well written, very clear and easy to follow.

Bloodmoon is a quality product that is anything but a way to milk more money from a popular franchise and gives a little more of everything you loved about "Morrowind."

Traitors Gate is challenging and interesting to play, especially for fans of hi-tech gadgetry, though perhaps it is not for the easily frustrated.

This game fascinated me. I enjoyed both the challenge and the way it allowed me to connect with the characters and their lives - showing them not as freaks but as all too human.

A bundle of fun. There is a short loading period each time you change major locations but it didn't bother me, although, as good as it is, it would be better if you could skip through dialogue if you've heard it before.

It is one of the best detective adventure games I have played in some time. It's a fun, challenging game with an affable main character and a good mystery to unravel.

I prefer more puzzles (as opposed to inventory conundrums) in my games as a rule but didn't miss them here. It's bright, it's breezy, it's a great bit of fun — what more can you ask for!

It's a great little play for adults and kids. Kids will love the driving. The game is fairly short, around 3, maybe 4, hours of play, but they're a fun-filled few hours.

Despite the bumps and jolts I still had a lot of fun with Broken Sword 3 and this attests to the mesmerising quality and drawing-power of the game, and confirms Revolution as master storytellers when it comes to Ripping Yarns.

So the Myst series ends serenely, calmly, and the way it began. In truth though, I probably did want a fusion of all the best bits.

Himalaya Studios honed their skills with their popular remakes of "King's Quest" I and II. With Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine they show that they also have what it takes to create a successful original work.

Runaway is a light-hearted romp with some genuinely humorous moments. My biggest disappointment was that Gina had no real role other than to look appealing and need rescuing.

A trip well worth taking. Most relaxing and enjoyable I thought, with enough challenge to keep experienced adventurers entertained and enough guidance for new players to join in and have plenty of fun.

Anachronox is an extremely enjoyable game. Although billed as a console style RPG it has a lot of adventuring and puzzle elements mixed in which might appeal to some adventurers as well as RPG fans.

A creaking cupboard door will send shivers up your spine if the characters haven't already started it a-tingling! The character graphics have to be seen to be believed. They are superb, almost caricatures, with eyes that tell their own stories.

An independent game, and a remarkably good one at that.

Overall Nibiru is an intriguing and entertaining game, not overly difficult, and I had a lot of fun playing it.

Another clever offering in this wacky off-beat series. I'm looking forward to seeing how far Telltale Games can push the absurd plotlines by the time the season ends with episode six.

Daemonica isn't perfect but it certainly made me want to play, which is a lot of what you want from a game. Its dark side appealed to mine, and for me, its strengths overpowered its flaws. Its final rating might not be the same as yours (isn't that always the case) but reflects how much fun I had over a few very lengthy and absorbing playing sessions.

Re-jig the control system and there is no doubt you would be on the verge of an outstanding game. Even with the foibles of the controls, both of us agree that this game was well worth the price of admission.

The beautifully detailed graphics make exploration a sheer pleasure and the music and ambient sounds combine well to heighten the sense of something evil waiting, patiently, watching your every move.

Neverwinter Nights isn't perfect. But I nevertheless had a great time on this journey and it's kept me well and truly entertained for the past few weeks.

This one is a leisurely and enjoyable journey, one to take if you just want to relax and don't want to tax your own little grey cells too severely. It's particularly good for new adventurers.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is a challenge that younger kids, say from 6 to 10 years, should thoroughly enjoy, and have a good few chuckles along the way. I did.

It looks quite good, having a sort of old fashioned Sierra look about it.

A most enjoyable and mostly satisfying game. Despite being a bit too generous with the sound puzzles, it's a lot of fun sorting out the problems and following the story.
