BlazBlue: Central Fiction is not just the end of the BlazBlue series; it’s a worthy climax to a quadrilogy that has been consistently excellent. It allies top notch fighting with a mass of content both online and offline. Superb netcode makes it easy to score some internet points, or just get some matches in with your pals and, if you’re lucky enough to have someone to sit on the couch next to you, expect there to be plenty of laughter and crowing while you battle for bragging rights.

A point and clicker which is easy to forget. It looks gorgeous and has a great voice cast but does nothing to stand out from the crowd. If you like your fantasy clichéd and ponderous this could be for you.

Small Radios Big Televisions is bold in so far as it offers very little gameplay and is surprisingly repetitive for a game that will last you two hours. There's merit here from an artistic point of view but the game is a victim of its own narrow viewpoint and the fact that artsy non-games aren't exactly rare these days.

Killing Floor 2 will be shunned by some for essentially being a horde mode shooter alone but it is far from the afterthought that its peers tend to be. It may not work as well in single player but if you have the friends to get a game going then it makes for one hell of a blast through.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 continues where the previous game left off in every regard. Bar some minor changes, the gameplay remains largely the same but the story continues to develop which will please fans. Don’t start here if you’re interested but look forward to this after you’ve experienced the similarly excellent original.

Taken as an interactive adventure, Robinson: The Journey is a stunning way to enjoy your PSVR headset. The world it creates is beautiful and the level of immersion is unparalleled. The gameplay isn’t nearly as exciting but is still a good adventure game but that’s not what they are selling you here. This is straight up eye candy.

Eagle Flight does a pretty good job of simulating flight in a natural setting. It is also one of the more relaxing VR games out there if you are just looking for a simple fly over. The controls are tight, the visuals are great and multiplayer is great fun. This is definitely one to try.

Root Letter has great visuals, an intriguing story and well paced chapters. The interactivity may only give the illusion of player control but it’s a welcome distraction.

Exile's End feels like a genuine retro classic, right down to the excellent music. However, a reliance on backtracking with no real signposting stops this from becoming a future classic itself.

Titanfall 2 improves on the original in almost every way, it takes the frantic action and amps it up even more in both the multiplayer and the brilliant new single player mode. Couple this with the consumer friendly DLC approach, excellent visuals and creativity and you have one fine game. Respawn have outdone themselves.

This feels like a great disappointment. Moto Racer 4’s budget upbringing can do little to forgive the twitchy handling and tough career objectives. For an arcade racer, fun moments are in short supply and fans of the series might want to avoid this. There’s challenge and frustration in abundance but the core racing doesn’t excite me.

Ronin combines style with tactical gameplay to make an enjoyable quest for revenge. Its reliance on trial and error as opposed to careful planning is a little disappointing but the satisfaction of dispatching an entire room of armed goons makes up for it.

Yesterday Origins updates the point and click genre and manages to tell a great thriller story at the same time. With good presentation, excellent voice acting and well thought out puzzles Yesterday Origins is a game which I can easily recommend.

Mark McMorris Infinite Air is a strange beast with strong social elements and great ideas that are hampered by a clumsy control scheme. It’s something that may be tightened with time and practice but I never got the sense this could truly be mastered. It’s a sparse genre so boarders might decide to take the plunge.

Xenoraid hides some good gameplay deep in an initially weak-looking package and it hides it well but fans of the genre who want some cheap, but different, shoot ’em up action may well end up enjoying the game.

Tethered is a fresh and welcome idea for PSVR that provides a worthy and challenging RTS experience. It capably proves that the genre is not only functional but also an incredibly good fit for VR hardware. If you were ever a fan of god sims then Tethered is worth your time.

Repetitive gameplay is the only thing holding back Earth’s Dawn but it is a pretty major part of the equation. The missions reward you well and it always feels like you’re making progress, but the lack of variety may be a deal breaker for some.

Windlands breaks a lot of rules in regards to early days VR movement but it holds up well and lends its way to a fun and engaging experience. This will make for a good test of your stomach if you want to try a more physical game for your new headset.

We've always been suckers for a mini-game compendium and Carnival Games VR has a couple of bangers. It's not all good but with this much variety on offer, you're sure to find something you like here.

Super Dungeon Bros is the very definition of average, with bland art style forgettable level design and floaty controls. Whilst more fun can be wrought out of the multiplayer, the chances of finding other people to play this game with is near non-existent. As a result you’re left with a single player game which seems to be poorly balanced and liable to crash.

The characters will annoy many but this game has it where it counts. The mission structure keeps you doing “just one more” whilst the ‘Game Settings’ truly feel like rewards. If you’re already a fan of the series then you’re in for a, albeit slightly shorter, treat. Others' mileage will vary depending on their tolerance for the cast.

WRC 6 provides a fun arcade tear through the country with an accessibility which should appeal to a lot. It handles the on-track action fairly well, although the lack of split times and the co-driver’s torrent of notes can really dampen your enjoyment. The damage model and penalty system are perhaps too forgiving to add to the game’s challenge but there’s a fair amount of joy on hand from the driving. It’s by no means deep but it is enjoyable.

An interesting take on adding interaction to the visual novel genre which is only partially successful. Whilst the story is engaging and the art design is gorgeous, the RPG elements of the game just come across as frustrating. It is worth a look if you like visual novel games, but doesn’t do enough to bring in a new crowd.

Eve: Gunjack is a pretty basic game but that doesn’t detract from its charm. Sure it may be over pretty quickly and the mobile trappings may be off putting to some but it stands as a cheap and fun distraction.

Eve: Valkyrie is the type of game that I have been waiting for a while now. It blends tight, responsive controls with some of the best action available for VR. Unfortunately it is slightly marred by unwelcome microtransactions and an teasingly brief single player. If you want a multiplayer space dogfighter then this is the best out there currently, however there could be more content for the price tag.

Mordheim: City of the Damned is exactly what I want from a Warhammer game. It has translated the table top game excellently to the PS4 and provides a brilliant example of turn based strategy gaming. Whilst there are some technical issues present the game is able to overcome these to offer a truly engaging experience.

Thumper has some great rhythm action to offer but the start setting and oppressive tone often makes it feel like what Rez might have been like if the Germans had won World War 2.

As a pool game, Sports Bar VR nails it. It’s as close to the real thing as you can get without leaving your house. The other modes are variable though and while the setting is quite nice in VR, the package is a little thin right now. However, it gives you more than Hustle Kings VR but maybe less than you might have expected overall.

In spite of its occasionally obtuse moments, Machinarium has enough charm in its presentation to win me over. There are some clever puzzles in this package with plenty of assistance on offer to provide enough direction. Sometimes the execution is a bit off and having a controller as a substitute for a mouse can lead to awkward moments, but it’s a strong effort that’s worth a look.
