In Nightmare has a decent idea at its base and some nice visuals but the fundamental gameplay makes too many missteps to make this one worth playing.

At times, Strawberry Vinegar handles friendship between two children well. There's moments of humour and some good character building on offer. The aesthetics are sickly sweet, twee and a little too much for me. Unfortunately, the good work is undone by some rather awkward, awkward implications. This game takes a rather inevitable turn which I really wish it had the nerve to avoid.

Touhou Genso Wanderer is a very Japanese, and very average, indie roguelite. As this is in the Touhou universe, the same cast of anime characters appear and this may appeal to some people. However, this does little to stand out from the crowd and is vastly overpriced at launch.

Nubla 2 may have been the result of a collaboration between a game developer and modern art museum, but the gameplay is anything but artistic. Wonderful aesthetics and an engaging narrative aside, Nubla 2 is a short and frustrating adventure, thanks in no small part to poor platforming mechanics and snail-like pacing.

Despite a decent setting and story the actual act of playing Black Mirror just isn’t enjoyable. As a result the many flaws stand out all the more for it. For adventure game fans this is maybe one you’d want to look into if it ever goes on sale, but for anyone else there are far better places to start your adventure.

This is not the return to the series fans were hoping for. Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is a slight experience with a story that feels poorly connected to the older classics. Elalith's actions undermine the decisions taken in previous games and, if that's not enough, the gameplay is very basic. It does have some interesting visual sections, but these also scale back the interactivity. As a result, it doesn't feel cohesive and strikes me more of a piece of merchandise than a game.

There's probably a very small, hardcore audience for Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet but if your logic is 'Great! I like fighting games and I like shoot 'em ups' then, seriously, buy a fighting game and a shoot 'em up and stay away from this silliness. This is a bit like kittens and ice cream. Keep them separate. Don't blend them together and try to tell me that's a good thing.

Tokyo Tattoo Girls promises a lot but delivers very little. It appears to be a strategy game but it basically plays itself with only minor input from the player. Some strong artwork at least makes the short playthroughs relatively enjoyable, just don't expect it to tax you.

    S. Prism Destroyer is a run-and-gun shooter with gameplay from the '80s, visuals from the '90s and not much else. There's some challenge here but not much in the way of inspiration.

There may be fans of City Hunter, the manga comic, but we'd be surprised to find any fans of this game's original PC Engine version so this expensive port is hard to recommend, especially because of the game's awful level design.

Shieldwall feels very hollow. The idea of building an army sounds great but it's realised in very limited terms. Tactical options seem very light and the timed nature of each battle means you're following the same basic flow every match. As diverse as the map selection can be, you're still stuck capturing flags against AI that seems to, at the very least, not operate under the same cooldown restrictions. The lack of multiplayer really hampers any longevity this game might have. As it is, Shieldwall is a very slender product with little depth.

Metal Gear Survive replaces the personality and heart of the Metal Gear franchise with plate spinning survival mechanics and a story that simply does not excite. There are some serviceable moments to find within the game, however the sense of tedium unfortunately overpowers the whole experience.

Police Shootout is a mystery. We somehow enjoyed playing it despite it having poor graphics, terrible audio, laughable writing and clunky, flawed gameplay. It's by almost every measure a terrible game and yet we finished it multiple times. Unlike the playtesters.

Bandit Six: Combined Arms offers two relatively plain and simple VR action games. Neither will rock your world in terms of gameplay or graphics though and technical problems have marred our experience of the game also.

Still Time is a puzzle platformer in a pixel art style and with the hook of being able to rewind time in order to solve the puzzles. Unfortunately this rewind mechanic doesn't work at all well, sometimes refusing to allow you to rewind at all. This all but renders the game unplayable and isn't something I can recommend.

This feels like a great disappointment. Moto Racer 4’s budget upbringing can do little to forgive the twitchy handling and tough career objectives. For an arcade racer, fun moments are in short supply and fans of the series might want to avoid this. There’s challenge and frustration in abundance but the core racing doesn’t excite me.

Taito have done great things with the Space Invaders series so copying the original and ignoring the brilliant sequels seems kind of lazy. If you want cheap platinums while looking at something that kind of looks like a MAME rom then this will serve that function but if you want anything approaching a good game then this isn't for you.

There is almost nothing to recommend with Valkyria Revolution as it fails to hit the mark in every aspect having, for some reason, changed pretty much everything which made the first game great. What you're left with is a very forgettable action RPG which frustrates with an overly long and dull story and simplistic and clumsy combat.

We've got time for the devs behind this vertically-scrolling slice 'em up but they've been doing this three-colour retro bit for a while and it's not really working anymore. If you want two platinums in half an hour, this is for you but if you want a game with any real substance at all, this isn't it.

Super Engine GT Turbo SPEC is just the minimum viable product of racing games. It adds nothing to the genre and misses all the modes, options and fun that you'd get from pretty much any other racing game. It's surprising just how uninspired this game is.

Visuals from 20 years ago meet gameplay from 40 years ago. Space Paradox: Noire isn't terrible but it's about as unexciting a shoot 'em up as we can remember reviewing.

Rolling Bob’s biggest selling point is the way it uses the gyroscope in the DualShock 4 to create a unique control method. Unfortunately this control method just doesn’t work and actively frustrates the gameplay. Couple this with bland art style and some examples of badly translated text and you have a game which is best ignored.

Syberia 3 is a mess of a game with appalling performance issues, terrible graphics and a lacklustre story. Whilst a weak story and poor graphics could be excused, particularly given the clever puzzles, the terrible performance issues all but ruin this game. I couldn’t even recommend this for fans of the first two games as it will just tarnish your memory, you’d be better off just reading a summary of the plot.

Fast and Furious Arcade Edition is a vacuous void of a game that while it might work well in an arcade environment, but is so sadly lacking in this home port. The AI rubberbanding is among the worst we’ve ever seen in our memory, if not ever, to the extent that no matter how well you drive, the opposition will be on you regardless. Don’t waste your time and money buying and playing this, instead pick up Burnout Paradise on the PSN store as you’ll get more from that for less money. Avoid this at all costs.
