At first, The Matrix Online is like a dream come true: your own Matrix. But then the cold, cold flames of its boring concrete hell, known as a game world start to get to you. Authentic, constantly developing storyline and one the best combat systems in the genre just don’t save the game from being monotonous and simply not fun to play. It’s as soulless as the world it tries to emulate. [June 2005, p.76]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Overall, First to Fight is an entertaining game. The graphics are okay while super-patriotic music is something Hans Zimmer would be proud of. For those who yearn for modern warfare, First Fight is not a bad, if not very original, choice. [July 2005, p.60]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Even if the worst mistakes and bugs would be fixed via patches, Imperial Glory would still only be mediocre. [July 2005, p.71]- Pelaaja (Finland)

You simply can’t offer more of the same when being the fifth game in a long running series. Dynasty Warriors 5 actually manages to take few steps backwards when compared to Dynasty "Warriors 4: Empires," mainly by dropping the excellent Empire-game mode. The button mashing action is still fun, but after five games and their extended editions, you kind of hope for something new to spice up the series. [August 2005, p.70]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Juiced has many interesting features, but they all have been seen before in the games it shamelessly imitates. The game has interesting characters and good career-mode but why bother, when there are better games to choose from? [June 2005, p.62]- Pelaaja (Finland)

For a single player, Monster Hunter doesn’t offer much. It’s designed to be played together with other people over the Internet. Clunky controls and the wonky camera system make it hard to get into, as does the frustrating amount of menus you have to wade through to simply get into the multiplayer part. Untold Legends feels too much like it’s been made for home consoles and then squeezed onto a PSP, losing many small, but important features in the transition. Visually the game is really impressive, but the action is repetitive, the loading times are atrociously long and the slowly evolving story is just not interesting enough. Still, the game’s fun in small doses and especially as a multiplayer experience. [Sept 2005, p 62]- Pelaaja (Finland)

It's a good thing that Star Fox series has returned to its space shoot 'em up roots, but why did they have to include mediocre land-action sequences in the game? Also, some other small details, like a lack of radar or a map, only ten levels and uninspiring multiplayer elements stop this from being the truly next-gen Star Fox game since "Lylat Wars." The PSP version of WRC has a different developer than the PS2-version - and it shows. New developer Traveller’s Tales has done good work in the past, but based on this the team lacks experience in the rally game genre. The cars sound lame, it’s hard to drive the Special Stages as it’s very unclear where you should be driving. Most of the time your car feels like it’s floating above the road. Even if Haunting Ground is visually great and is in many ways a refreshingly different representative of its genre, but does have its own set of problems. [May 2005, p.68]- Pelaaja (Finland)

In the end, Blood Will Tell is a very basic action game that consists of a series of battles with few slower moments thrown in for good measure. The rather dark storyline is interesting enough to keep you playing until the end. [May 2005, p.64]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Stand Alone Complex lives on its good looks and famous anime licence only. As a game, it’s so average in every other aspect that it’s not even funny. [May 2005, p 80]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Despite its limitations Batman Begins is an okay-ish action/adventure game, which has excellent production values. The voice acting is excellent and helps to make the game feel and sound very authentic compared to the movie. This game certainly is no "Catwoman"! [July 2005, p.59]- Pelaaja (Finland)

MediEvil on PSP feels too much like a half-hearted rehash of the old PlayStation game, but with with some new faults. The fighting degenerates into a simple hack’n’slash, despite different weapons and attack combos. The controls are just not good enough for varied combat. Despite the repetitive and simple combat and platforming sections, the reason you keep on playing is the humour. Sir Dan is a very sympathetic character and its fun to follow his erratic adventures around Gallowmere and his strange interaction with other characters. Voice acting is excellent too [Sept 2005, p.66]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Amongst the minigames there’s plenty of traditional platforming gameplay. You can see that the developers have played plenty of "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker." This is not a complaint, on the contrary. The only real niggles are the lacking save points towards the end of the adventure and some of the bosses come up way too often. The unique capabilities of DS’s dual screens are not used very well. Touch screen serves only as a map, and as touch activation for nitro boost. As a driving game, NFSU 2 DS does not feed the need for speed. Driving simply feels too slow paced. [August 2005, p.68]- Pelaaja (Finland)

The developers have shamelessly ripped off elements from more successful street racing games, like "Midnight Club" and "Need for Speed Underground." Unfortunately they haven't been able to make them work along with their own mediocre ideas. [May 2005, p.82]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Maximum Impact is a really poor showing for an anniversary game in the series. Visually the game is poor and the implementation of the third dimension doesn’t add that much to the fighting mechanic. [May 2005, p.74]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Despite its many promising ideas, Fantastic 4 is not successful as a whole. The biggest problem lies in the mediocre execution. Bland graphics and bad animations diminish the gaming experience. The game uses its licence relatively well, but doesn’t in any way rise above other mediocre movie licence games. [August 2005, p.67]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Musashi: Samurai Legend is hard to rate. Nothing in it is new and everything it has to offer has already been seen in other games in the same genre. Still, collecting the legendary swords and studying the enemy techniques is quite fascinating and keeps you playing. This game is a good choice for those who seek a bit more action oriented adventure than what your average Japanese RPG offers. [Sept 2005, p.70]- Pelaaja (Finland)

For golf fans, Outlaw Golf 2 doesn’t offer anything besides frustration due to lacklustre controls. If you are into such a thing other games, like "Rumble Roses" and "DOA"-series, offer more in the breast- and crass-departments. [May 2005, p.80]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Ridge Racer’s touch screen debut ain't what it’s cranked up to be. It could have been much better. As it’s now, it doesn’t utilize the DS’s capabilities in any useful or fun kinda way. [July 2005, p.77]- Pelaaja (Finland)

Dynasty Warriors on the PSP is quite a good conversion of the home console versions. Because of the technical limitations big battlefields have been split into separate small sections. This makes the PSP version lose the free roaming battlefields though, so all that there is to do is slash at hordes of enemies. [Sept 2005, p.67]- Pelaaja (Finland)

On paper Boiling Point has been designed as an expansive simulation and RPG with its complex weapon’s upgrading system. However, all the elements are very unpolished and most of them barely work. The game’s potential strengths such as the openly structured missions and the massive gameworld are rendered meaningless because of this. [July 2005, p.55]- Pelaaja (Finland)
