The real star of the game is the action, which becomes an explosion-filled thrill ride by the end that never gets old – thanks in part, no doubt, to its relatively short running time.

The game is also limited by what is missing. There is no Wimbledon, no Williams sisters and no Ana Ivanovic, and although Roddick and Murray might draw some interest from the US and UK, they don’t have the same effect at this end of the world. And there is also the fact that it’s a sport sim.

The stunning production values in the cut-scenes are worth the price of admission and it is all wrapped up with a comprehensive multiplayer component too. Just be prepared for some brutally tough single-player gameplay.

It’s the kind you pick up if you love tennis and have a poster of Sharapova on your bedroom ceiling.

Guitar Hero on the DS is an ambitious idea which could’ve easily failed but here we are with those ambitions fulfilled. Rock on, Vicarious Visions; let’s hear an encore soon.

Refreshing and original. Unfortunately, the lack of victims running from the buildings makes it feel empty, and the repetitious gameplay loses its novelty value after a few hours.

It's hardly a step forward for the franchise and clearly lacks the polish of earlier titles, but if you're into this kind of game and are looking for more pocket action from your favorite characters, it could have been worse.

The long, over-indulgent cinematic cut-scenes combined with the sometimes inappropriate odd-ball humour has had many gamers scratching their heads in confusion. Regardless of your view point though, very few could question the artistic genius behind this latest instalment.

One of the biggest gripes of Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox – which was solved in a later remake on the PS3 – was the camera: it didn’t have analog stick control. Although in Ninja Gaiden 2 you can, it’s a constant struggle against the camera as it tries to retain the default angle.

It looks nice, moves at a good clip and you always feel like you’re able to control the car and know exactly when you lose your grip. The Flashback feature feels like something with a lot of promise and we can’t wait to see what the next racing game that rolls out of the garage at Codemasters will be like.

At first glance this game may seem tilted at a younger audience, with its cutesy-style graphics, but don’t let this exterior fool you, as your brain will come close to melting point with some of the levels.

The game looks even more fantastic than ever and a few extra features are on its way for lucky PC users.

Buku Sudoku isn’t bad; it’s just that the Xbox 360 doesn’t really seem the platform for such an experience.

Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness does a lot of things a little differently from the generic western RPG. Unfortunately, some things work better than others. No doubt the system will be refined with the sequels to come.

Despite the delays on the release date, it still feels rushed and slapped together at the last minute despite some promising planning and concept designs (I still want to buy a life-size Mantel solider suit).

What IS different, and what makes the game worth its purchase price, is the addition of the Singstore.

If you’re able to motivate yourself to exercise you can do no wrong in getting Wii Fit. Granted it’s not for everyone, but the ones it is for will be able to take a lot away from it.

This solid football game offers hours of enjoyment, both via single and multiplayer, and has enough improvements to keep FIFA ’08 fans happy. However, the limited number of teams and the pure European focus may put off some of the more casual players.

Traveller’s Tales have put plenty of care into this title and it is sure to please Narnia fans of a younger audience. Even as a 27 year old, I got plenty of enjoyment out of it.

Speed Racer: The Videogame excels at multiplayer, allowing two people to play split screen across a variety of Championship races.

Speed Racer is a game that gets a lot of things right but it never goes that extra mile. The license probably does make the game better than it should be but that doesn't mean you should give it a miss.

This game will certainly appeal to true puzzle fans. It is a refreshing change of pace for others and EchoChrome fits perfectly on the PSP platform. However, it is definitely not recommended for late night playing as these addictive and brain-taxing puzzles will keep you up for hours.

It's not perfect, but given the equipment available today, it's as close as anyone is likely to get. Grand Theft Auto IV is Rockstar North's magnum opus and it is absolutely essential. That’s all one needs to know.

This is definitely the weakest iteration of Vegas 2; if you have a PS3 or 360, it’s easy to recommend those versions over this one, even if the controls aren’t quite as tight.

It might not be the best vertical shooter ever – that honour goes to Ikaruga’s predecessor Radiant Silvergun – but it is easily the best game on Xbox Live Arcade and indeed the Xbox 360 itself. Purchase immediately.

The game looks better than ever on the PC and plays like a dream too. However if you already have the game you wont find anything totally new other than the odd side-mission.
