It loses points for having a dull singleplayer mode, but if it is viewed as your training ground for the multiplayer it starts to make more sense. The multiplayer is so fast paced and convincingly pulled off it is a blast to play, even with the controls being a tad hard to get used to.

If LeBron’s your guy you’ll love 2K’s latest release. While there’s not a lot new, aside from the compulsory King James worship, the game is a fitting end to the current console cycle.

But, with four player split screen and 3D support, those with a big enough telly are in for some incredibly intense, high revving racing. Sure it's chaotic and epic and it starts out too easy and hits a point where it becomes too frustrating. But, and this is most important thing, MotorStorm: Apocalypse is exciting and thrilling and awesomely fun from the moment you start playing.

All these tweaks and changes are nice, but it’s the new modes that provide most of the value here.

Even if you don't have a 3D telly (and who does?) and despite the issues with the career mode, you still get a game that's enjoyable looks fantastic and plays great.

Worms W.M.D. is a Well Made Distraction that I Would Most Definitely recommend.

Rocksmith tries to walk that fine line between a game and an educational tool, and sadly it gets confused a lot of the time. It has evolved the music rhythm genre of gaming, which is brilliant, but it has forgotten how much fun rocking out with your six-string should be.

Absolutely nails the core gameplay.

While the gameplay will seldomly challenge any experience gamer, there is a definite appeal due to the simplicity and sense of achievement with all of the hidden extras.

Very similar to its predecessor, but it now comes with a proper two-player mode, an improved Break it Down mode, and lots of other small improvements. If you enjoyed the first game, you will certainly enjoy this one.

The game itself will take you a good number of hours to complete – there are over 150 puzzles spaced out between cut scenes and other adventure elements. However, the puzzles provide little in the way of replay value, so you probably won’t find yourself going back for a second play through.

Madden 10 is still, in almost every way, a quality title. It’s a game packed with detail, drama and fun. So don’t be surprised if it’s around for another twenty years.

The fighting is as frantic or as tactical as you want to make it. It's easy to get started, but has plenty of depth. And, lets not mess around, there's a lot of very fit, very brutal men, handing out vicious, blood splattered beatings.

It's not the most original idea for a game and there may be some technical issues to be worked out. But, from the all the unlockables, the endless mixture of clothes, rewards, weapons, mods, and kill phases like 'Let me spray you with my awesome', Gotham City Impostors has plenty of awesome to go round.

What Metro: Last Light does best is establish and maintain a tone. It is sad. It is hopeless. It is grim. Wonderfully, thought provokingly, and very enjoyably grim.

It's a good effort, and still has lots of good points to enjoy throughout the game, but unfortunately will go down in history as the weakest of the series.

FIFA is one of the longest running game franchises, appearing almost every year for 25 years. For die-hard fans, buying every new edition is just a way of life – and with improvements across the board, they won’t be disappointed this year. However for more casual players who purchased last year’s FIFA 17, all you’ll really be missing out on is the new player rosters, strips, and a few extra nice-to-haves.

Ninja Theory have been faithful to the original games, but still added enough of their own lick of originality to warrant the return.

An interesting game. It attempts to combine an increasingly niche genre with one that couldn't be more populist right now. The danger it faces is to alienate its hardcore fans without luring enough FPS players over.

For the most part Split/Second: Velocity hits the mark like a cargo ship through your windscreen. It's extreme fun and effortless to get into, like the best weekend party games should be, but may struggle over the longer term.

Street Fighter X Tekken brings it in some places and slides by in others, yet it manages to be one of the best crossover fighting games in recent memory.

Overall, if the violence doesn’t put you off, Condemned 2 is a worthy purchase. If you’re a shooter fan, and are after a visceral, disturbing experience, then this is the game for you.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is as good as it could possibly get. The only problem it has is the obvious one; if you have the original release on PC, or on the last-gen consoles, it’s up to you if you want to spend $80 on an expansion pack. And is any expansion pack ever going to be worth the price of a full game? But, if you didn’t buy the original game, get this.

Some new levels would have been nice (there’s no new content on offer, unfortunately) but the 40+ that are here certainly represent a solid investment and will take some time to conquer, especially if you’re a perfectionist.

One of the top-quality Sonic games, even if it's a bit weirder and a bit patchier. The lack of slickness ends up being a positive - this is a game that'll stick in your memory, and encourage you to keep coming back to it. Like Sonic? You'll like this one.

It's this frustration that turns Crysis 2 from a raging river into a swollen lake. Everything it does well, it does really well. As an overall experience it looks great, feels great and tells a great yarn. Its bells all whistle and its trinkets all sparkle. But this dazzling array of graphical and technical wizardry hides the fact that water has quietly seeped into this title's few cracks. Some of the core gameplay mechanics that you'd expect a tier one developer like Crytek to knock out of the park, are instead a little rusted over.
