While the program itself is quite well executed, it's still basically just a standard calculator, and most people already own at least one of those in some shape or form.

In the end Animal Crossing Clock proves to be mainly just another chance to cash in on the popularity of the Animal Crossing series and doesn't even manage to provide a very useful tool to go along with it.

Crystal Defenders R2 features a bit more challenge and just feels a little meatier overall than the first release. If you enjoyed Crystal Defenders R1, you'll likely enjoy this second title as it's basically more of the same, just with a little more of an edge to it.

Perhaps one of the best games released so far on the DSiWare service. The graphics are very pleasing, the dialogue is charming and the gameplay is simple enough to enjoy in short bursts and deep enough to keep you hooked for hours.

In the end, Photo Clock doesn't prove to be any more useful than the Animal Crossing Clock application, even with its ability to use your own photos as clock themes.

The story's practically non-existent and you'll be going from A to be B a lot, but it looks good, plays without error, has an entertaining multiplayer mode and contains enough variation to stop it being overwhelmingly average.

Developers SKIP Tokyo have executed another simple puzzle concept flawlessly, with both main game modes proving highly addictive and enough to keep you coming back to beat your previous high score.

Sure, the Mario theme is cool and the ability to actually have some interaction with the experience makes it a bit more practical than the Animal Crossing Clock, but ultimately it's still not enough.

The Mario theme is obviously going to make this appealing to some, but much like the Animal Crossing Calculator application, it's still just a simple calculator, something than can already be found on almost any electronic device in existence today.

While it still retains many of the negative aspects of past titles, it should appear quite clear that it is the definite installment in the series.

For 200 points Sudoku! 50 For Beginners is a pretty sound purchase: it has enough to keep the player occupied for a decent amount of time and really is a very good introduction to Sudoku.

It isn’t a must have title by any means but genuinely interested players should find enough redeeming qualities to make this one worth a download.

It’s difficult to recommend Silver Star Reversi wholeheartedly, however its core gameplay and frugal price make it difficult to dismiss.

If you've played Incoming! for only thirty seconds, you've gotten just as much out of it as if you've played for several hours.

Overall this stripped down DSiWare version of Puzzle League is a pretty solid puzzler with clear and concise gameplay. There is a fair amount to keep avid puzzlers busy and for the price tag the game really is a bargain. It’s a pity that the game lacks the multiplayer action of the original, but then for only 500 Nintendo points, the game is still a steal.

The bottom line is what is on offer here doesn’t represent good value for 800 Nintendo Points.

For people unfamiliar with the series, perhaps first-time DS owners, this game is an ideal download as it offers a nice introduction to the brain training series and indeed can perhaps be viewed as a cheaper alternative to the full title with the bonus of not having to carry around the game cartridge.

The presentation is as basic as you can get with no options and no ability to play anyone besides the computer. Although the computer is a competent foe, these games are generally prized for their social aspect and get old quickly when played alone.

Much like the first Brain Age Express DSiWare release, Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters once again manages to offer up a small sampling of brain training exercises from the retail title in a more condensed DSiWare package.

The game's cutesy graphics bely what the game is really like - shaking your Wii Remote until your arms are about ready to fall off. For 500 Wii Points, thankfully, the blow isn't too bad, but unless you'd really like to test which of your friends can shake the fastest, we'd recommend staying far away from this one.

Children won't have the patience for this, and there are much better things to spend 800 points on. In summary, PictureBook Games: Pop-Up Pursuit is the perfect reason to discontinue family game night.

It goes without saying that Pop Plus: Solo is a highly recommended purchase, there are very few other games on the DSiWare service that come close to matching the extremely high quality of this title.

Overall, if Oscar in Toyland had been polished and updated for 2009 this could have been the DSiWare service's first big platformer. As it is, Oscar in Toyland only just manages to escape mediocrity, and yet doesn't quite fall into the "good" category.

The games in this third Clubhouse Games Express package are all good fun and certainly executed well, but it's difficult to recommend them too highly when you can get the entire package of games for less than $20.

There's nothing wrong with either representation of these popular card games, but there's not really much outstanding about them either.

Art Academy: First Semester is a fantastic program for creating art, though it doesn't offer much else.

This is a strong step in the right direction, and a title the developers should be proud of.

My Sims Camera’s saving grace is its relatively low price, and when you consider that Nintendo have charged the same for clock applications and calculators, My Sims Camera isn’t a terrible purchase. Saying that, unless you’re a fan of the series it’s perhaps best to steer well clear of this title.
