Tadpole Treble Encore is absolutely worth the pick-up, whether this is your first rodeo in Thunder Creek or you're deciding to visit the likes of the totally-not-Frank Sinatra male tadpole in Midnight Bayou for the 50th time (because that song is just awesome).

Dreamscaper is a wonderful experience for those looking for a deep story and fun gameplay. The narrative might get a little heavy for some, but those who are looking for a moving experience or just a good roguelite will find it here.

Despite its issues, NBA 2K19 is by far the best installment in the franchise’s history. No matter which team I play as, no matter the late-game situation, it does a tremendous job of pulling me in. Its presentation enriches me with tons of basketball info and insight, plus its gameplay makes me more anxious for the actual NBA season to start (in a good way). There are still improvements that can be made for next year’s game, but 2K Sports and Visual Concepts shows their dominance while also celebrating 20 years of NBA 2K basketball.

M2 did a pretty good job at this port. Everything looks and runs quite well, and the customization options for the gameplay and controls are much appreciated. While I wish the visuals looked more like the PS2 port of the game, and that there were more content, this is still a neat little package that should prove to be fun for any fan of racing games, whether you’re a novice or veteran.

For those that have played Etrian Odyssey games before, and those that have yet to experience a game in the franchise, Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight is absolutely worth picking up!

If you’re familiar with Curse of the Moon, you’ll feel right at home with its sequel. It’s more or less the same great experience you’ve come to expect, with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. We may not have needed Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, but now that it’s here, it’s sure to become a staple of my library.

Although nothing here is likely to change your opinion on any of the titles, most people who have played these games don’t need any convincing. Each game holds up very well and shines behind its own compelling strengths. It’s hard to imagine what could have been — a fully revamped Super Mario 64, tweaks to a few of the more painful aspects of Super Mario Sunshine, or some fresh levels in Super Mario Galaxy, for example. But despite some disappointment with how little was done to enhance these games, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is ultimately a convenient, fun collection that enables you to take some of the best 3D Mario games wherever you go and swap between them with ease. It doesn’t get much better than that.

With a price-tag of only $10, MixedBag Srl’s colorful shooter is easily one of the most original and enjoyable games out on the Wii U eShop right now.

Overall, Slime-san is a surprising and insanely fun downloadable title that platforming fans should not hesitate picking up. The style is gorgeous and the music is catchy, while the moment-to-moment gameplay is incredible. Super Meat Boy may still be months from launch, but those looking for a twitch-based platforming experience should not hesitate downloading Slime-san today.

Little Nightmares II tells an enriching story, through its hauntingly beautiful level design and themes. There are intense moments, with frightening enemies lurking around every corner. Combine all of this with its fantastic audio design, and Little Nightmares II is a very special game that's definitely worth playing.

Horace is a heartwarming platformer that mixes a variety of genres to produce a one-of-a-kind adventure.

The Switch port of Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition is a wonderful upgrade to an excellent action-adventure video game. The Freestyle Mode gives players so many options to inflict pain on hellspawn, and co-op Bloody Palace is a fun diversion. If you’ve never played DMC3 before, or you did years ago, this version is the definitive way to play it. I can’t recommend it enough for series fans or outsiders alike.

The collection offers a wide range of experiences suitable for any shooter fan. In solo play, the Switch combines an absurdly addicting grind with true pick-up-and-play functionality, and if you have a few friends who grab the games as well, get ready for some long, intense sessions full of wacky humor and action-packed quests. I’ve enjoyed some Borderlands in my time, but now that I’ve gotten a taste of the fully realized flexibility of portable loot-’n-shoot action, I’m not sure I ever want to play the series a different way again.

The soundtrack is monotonous, the menus are a slog, and it often becomes too easy to button-mash to victory. But otherwise, NEO: The World Ends with You is a really cleverly designed game that packs a fantastic amount of content into a small game world, and that even stays true continuing into the postgame. An engaging narrative that successfully expands upon the world of the original brings the entire experience together, and the final result is another inimitably unique action RPG from Square Enix.

With exceptional boss fights, the copious amount of unlockables, and the short runtime, Ys Origin is a game that begs to be replayed and enjoyed again. This prequel is a terrific entry to the franchise that will make players eager to play the rest of the series.

Traffix is deceptive with its beautifully clean minimalist aesthetic. That theme is juxtaposed next to its frantic, reflex-based gameplay that will have you hitting the restart button time and again to get a perfect score. Nevertheless, it turns the typically stressful situation of a congested commute into that of a fun strategy game that can be enjoyed by anyone.

Clubhouse Games uses the Switch hardware in creative and technical ways, and Nintendo's signature quirky charm oozes all around here and makes for a fun collection that provides basically endless amounts of entertainment.

Cyber Shadow could explain some aspects of its gameplay better, and it doesn’t do much to innovate in its genre. However, with meticulous game design, challenging yet fair obstacles, a meaty length, and beautiful 8-bit pixel art, Cyber Shadow is a memorable and high-quality action platformer.

It’s not a bad game by any means, and I think some fans of both dark art and horror will enjoy this game much more than I did, but for me, I have to hark back to that abstract art analogy I used earlier.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker highlights one of the best secondary characters in the Super Mario universe, and gives him a stellar adventure. Fans of the Wii U version should pick it up for the portable experience and extra levels while those who didn’t play the game in 2014 will find a lot to love. It’s another fantastic addition to the continually growing Switch library, and I can’t wait to see what Nintendo does with Captain Toad in the future.

As it stands, Fuga: Melodies of Steel is good, but it falls a bit short of greatness. It toys with some really interesting ideas but ultimately failed to fully capitalize on them. Even so, I did enjoy my time with it. If you're looking for a roughly 15-hour turn-based RPG experience, you can certainly do a lot worse, though I'd recommend waiting for a sale.

Dragon Quest Builders takes all its notes from Minecraft, that’s no secret. Its cutesy art-style and bubbly characters feel right at home on a Nintendo platform. If you’re a fan of Minecraft and want something familiar with a different style and finesse, Dragon Quest Builders will scratch that itch. Unfortunately for die-hard Dragon Quest fans, you won’t get much out of this game that’s set in a universe you’re passionate about. Dragon Quest Builders on Switch brings near-PS4 quality graphics with the portable aspect of the PS Vita. If you’re going to play it anywhere, I recommend the Nintendo Switch.

All things considered, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a fine addition to the Wii U eShop lineup. It’s one of the more polished titles on the service, and has a good length and value to it.

A fantastic addition to the 3DS library with a well polished gameplay experience that doesn’t feel ‘dumbed down’ or like a mobile game. Clever level design, nice visuals, and the added mech-suit really make Planet Robobot stand out as a Kirby title, and is one of his most enjoyable entries to date. If you enjoy classic Kirby games and are looking for a game with some real value, Kirby: Planet Robobot should be on your radar.

Ultimately, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions opens up a bit of a paradox. On one hand, Nintendo fans that have yet to play the game are bound to be younger and perhaps without the means to purchase as many new games. Therefore, although the 3DS version of the title is perhaps the best way to play the GBA classic, at $30 above Virtual Console price it may be worth considering the Wii U port. Those that don’t mind sinking their money into a remake should not be put off, however. Although Bowser’s Minions falls short of adding value to the package, Superstar Saga is still an excellent Mario RPG and one that holds up very well in today’s 3DS catalog.

Splatoon is to shooters what Mario Kart was to racers: it emphasizes pick up and play fun. It’s a fun and lighthearted game with some great mechanics and focus on elements of the shooting genre that have never been looked at the same way before... While the initial amount of maps and modes may be deterring, the sheer fun of the game manages to outshine any strong negative feelings I had. It’s not a perfect game, but it’s fun: plain and simple.

With quick loading and Nintendo Switch portability, it’s easy to call this the definitive version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. It’s a fun, silly, and engaging experience that excels at paying homage to two iconic game franchises while also crafting its own memorable, endearing world. Fans of the addictive RPG gameplay of Persona 5 or the charming characters of Fire Emblem: Three Houses will be right at home with this game, as long as you’re prepared for yet another lengthy RPG experience to absorb your life for a while.

Overcooked 2 is something of a perfect sequel. It takes what the original did well, cleans it up, and then adds a few new elements.
